![]() Drinkwell Platinum Filters - 3 pack By: Drinkwell Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 23 More Information drink well filters I have a drinkwell for my cats and i need filters to make it work. Cartridges are excellent. These are the best cartridges to use in the Drinkwell. We have five little dogs and need the extra filtration. They are wonderful. Highly recommend them and the seller. These Filters Are A Step-Up From The Older Version! Since I already posted a review for the Drinkwell Platinum Pet Fountain, I am going to keep this review focused on the product itself, which is the new and improved filter. I cant say that I was all that thrilled with the previous filter for use with the older version of the Drinkwell Pet Fountain. It was always producing a lot of charcoal in my cats water and although it didnt hurt him, I still didnt like the site of all that "garbage" in the bottom of his water dish. Also, the old filters didnt seem to do that good of job of filtering out the water. I dont know if it was just me, but I didnt like them all that much. Now we jump forward to the other day when I got the Drinkwell Platinum Pet Fountain for my cats eighth birthday, which he was simply overjoyed with and stuck his entire face in the stream to get the first drink. These new filters seem to do a much better job at filtering out the water as it circulates throughout the system. I have yet to see any charcoal in the bottom of his dish, nor anywhere else for that matter. I would definitely recommend that you buy several of these three-packs of replacement filters and be sure and change them frequently depending upon the condition of your local water. Some places have a harder water than others and therefore should replace the filters more often. Shawn Kovacich 100% Cat Lover cats drinking Since I bought the Drinkwell cat fountain (and keep it supplied with fresh filters), my cats have finally stopped drinking out of the toilet, (they all [3] think theyre dogs) and I dont have near the mess to clean up. Yeah!! EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION I first received a partial shipment--contacted them about the problem--They emailed me back immediately and said they were sorry and would ship the balance of my order---It came in two days. Thanks Cybercats Works as advertised This product is the consumable supplies for the Drinkwell cat water fountain. Im not sure we really need this carbon filter cartridge for the cats water (given the places my cats tongues go), but it works. Makes my cat happy. My cat enjoys the Drinkwell product and the filtration ensures that his water is fresh as it is recycled. Disappointed in Amazon and KV Vet Supply I have nothing bad to say about the filters or the vendor for these filters. They were mailed immediately. However, I bought the filters in a package deal with the water fountain. The vendor for the fountain was KV Vets Supplies from Nebraska. They cancelled the order because of a "pricing error" and then tried to up the price on me. So, now I have filters, but no fountain. Be aware of KV Vet Supply. They may give you a good deal on their Amazon page, but when they cancel the order and up the price, Amazon has absolutely no customer service to help out. Bad deal all around. Quality product and good price These filters are quality Drinkwell products and this package of three is a good buy. These filters do the job for which they are intended. I love my Drinkwell watering fountain. They won't drink from it. I bought the product with high hopes it would help with my cats urological problems, getting him to drink more water to help keep him from blockages. This tactic of using the fountain was recommended by a vet. Too bad, but he wont touch the water, looked at the fountain a couple of times, but wont even play with the water. Even my dog who will drink from anything wont drink from it. For me at least, it was an expensive waster of money. Pet drinkwell filters The filters work very well but need to be changed more often. Vendor price was best and arrived faster than expected. Filters very easy to change. Filters are OK, Fountain Filtration System is Not I essentially agree with M&M Catboys review, which is more about the system than the filters themselves I think. I have both the Big Dog and Platinum fountains. The water in the Big Dog flows over and partly bypasses the filter even when it is new, so the filter is less efficient in it. For both fountains, I wash all hard components every four days with soap and hot water and replace old purified water with new purified water, and still get dirt and slime on the inlet white side of the filters, which have to be changed every two weeks even with frequent flushing of the inlet white side. For me, changing the water more often and omitting the filter is the cheaper, better alternative. For what its worth, though, these newer filters are better than the older ones and worth the difference in price if you find filters helpful in these fountains. Obviously, they are doing some good if they load up with contaminants, but frequent replacement is expensive. Premium Filters - No problems I disagree with M&Ms review about the filters lasting no more than 1 day. That hasnt been my experience at all. Make sure they get loaded with the black side facing the front of the fountain, and the narrower edge goes in first. Also, its important to rinse the filter with cold water before inserting. This will get rid of any loose carbon dust. The manual explains all this. According to the manual, 1 filter should last 6-8 weeks, depending on your pump speed and how quickly your animal(s) go through the water. I change mine every 2 months, sometimes longer. Now, I *clean* the whole fountain every 5-6 days, taking apart the whole thing, dumping out the old water, giving it a good scrubbing with soap and hot water. I take the lid off first, clean it, and rest the filter on the lid while I clean the rest of the fountain. Then I put the same filter back in, unless its due for a change. $10 for a 3-pack that lasts 6 months is a good deal to me. Dont know how the other user had such problems with grime and slime. Its important to clean the fountain regularly is all I can think of. Great product!! These are an improvement over the original filters. These are a nice improvement over the original one or two-chambered Drinkwell Pet Fountain filters. I like these. New filters are effective for only one day or so The Drinkwell fountain is an above-average product (I rated it four stars), but the filtering system is pretty much useless. The filter fits vertically inside the fountain and may be effective in cleaning the water for a day or so, after which the water becomes cloudy (or maybe the filter is, indeed, totally useless and the water appears to be clear and clean for that one day merely because it was clean to start with). However, grime and slime will build up throughout the fountain, including the filter, really, really fast, and once that happens, water will simply flow on top of the filter, instead of through it. At that point, I guess one can do one of two things: [1] Clean/scrub the filter. While common-sensical, that does not seem to work because there is just no way to clean a used filter throughly enough. When putting a cleaned filter back inside the fountain (after also cleaning the entire fountain and changing the water), the water gets cloudy again in seconds. Guess where the cloudiness comes from? The "cleaned" filter! Bottom line: Filters cannot be cleaned well enough, which brings me to the second option. [2] Change the filter. Again, common sense, except you would need to do that every 2-3 days. At about $10 for a 3-pack, wouldnt you rather use that money to buy premium food for your pets or toward their health insurance? These days, I use my Drinkwell fountain without a filter, but I only use my own filtered drinking water to fill it. I change the water and scrub/wash the fountain every four days (with dishwashing solution, but avoid using the solution on the pump, though). The water never gets cloudy during those four days. (Four days seem to be a good compromise between my laziness and ensuring that my pets have access to clean water all the time.) I wish I could find a pet drinking fountain with a truly effective filtering system at an affordable price, but I doubt there is one on market right now. Good filter, improved over standard filter. These filters seem to work very well with the Drinkwell platinum fountain. I have used the old design filters with the standard Drinkwell, and these seeem to filter a little better than those. Happy with the performance and would recommend. satisfied Fast confirmation of order and shipping. Great product quality. Shipping time decent, but I have had faster. Not to say that shipping here was slow by any means, its just that on the same day I ordered from 2 different sellers with standard shipping and I got the other product a few days earlier so thats why. Still overall satisfied though! satisfied Fast confirmation of order and shipping. Great product quality. Shipping time decent, but I have had faster. Still overall satisfied though! platinum drinkwell fountain Fantastic Fountain; not only do my four(4) cats love it, the water stays cleaner and fresher twice as long as the earlier model without the built-in reservoir. As for some of the other reviews that state the reservoir is difficult to put in when filled, I totALLY DISAGREE!! The newer 6-sectioned filters are the key to the fresher cleaner water and are a MUST BUY ITEM!!!! Thanks from my kitties. Great water capacity but louder then other brands When I was in the store buying this, someone stopped by and mentioned that it was loud. I was more concerned with not having to fill it every day like I did with the small Petmate version. It is definately large enough. I fill the water every 4 days now instead of every day. However, the pump does have a larger vibration to it which is slightly annoying but not terrible. Improved Filter The premium version of the Drinkwell filter keeps the charcoal spread out, allowing it to be more effective than the standard model. We'll See Havent needed them yet. The water is still clean from the first one, though so I guess they do what they should. My water is pretty good already, though... The cats love it Quiet most of the time. The cats love it , especially the one who drinks from the tub spout. Pets are still checking it out - Nice fountain, holds lots of water. I need to take the other water dish away and they will use it all the time. Directions sounded confusing but assembly and cleaning are really simple. |
