my cat loves it!

I think this product is a hit or miss depending on your pet, but I think its totally worth a try if you have a cat or dog that is always trying to lay on or around a heating source. I knew before I bought the bed that I needed to get one because one of my cats is always trying to sleep on my laptop or on the power adapter. The cushion actually acts kind of like how my laptop does when the cat sits on it (the laptop is always slightly warmer than room temp. when on, and then it gets super warm the longer she is on it until the fan has to kick on), so there was no major transition when I got the Therabed. It works exactly like what she was used to from the laptop! She loved the cushion immediately and now wont leave it! The only thing I had to do to show her that it would warm up is that I put a pillow on top of it so the bed would heat up. If you dont test it with a pillow, its really difficult to know if the bed is warming because there is such a slight variation in temperature until a cat actually sits on the bed (saves electricity...really great). It isnt the softest bed, but I figured if my cat likes to sleep on the floor and on a laptop, and for the simple fact that I bought it specifically for the heat, then the Therabed pet cushion would be perfect for her needs...and it is!

Not soft enough for my dog

I purchased this for my very, very old arthritic setter. I was disappointed because she just plain didnt like the bed. I suspect it was because this bed is not soft and cushy. This is surprising, given that it is advertised for arthritic animals. If your animal likes soft beds to feel cozy, this item may not be the answer. It did wash up fine for me. It is unfortunate that there is not an "on" indicator. You have to unplug the transformer from the wall socket to turn it off. For my dog, the Dolce Vita heated pet cushion was a waste of money.

HOW TO MAKE IT ATTRACTIVE TO MY CATS

FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS AND WASHED THE COVER, AND PUT THEIR TOYS AND SOME SOFT TOWELS THEY LIKE, BUT THE CATS ARE NOT INTERESTED. I THINK IT SHOULD HAVE A LIGHT AND A SWITCH , SO YOU KNOW IF IT IS WORKING. A WASTE OF $70.00.

Crunchy

I bought this bed for my old, arthritic Lab mix. She did not like the bed and will not use it. The cover is not soft and the bed makes a funny crunchy sound when stepped on. It didnt surprise me that she was less than thrilled with the bed. But my other dog, who loves to be warm (sleeps under covers, lies in the sun coming through the window), slept on it once and that was it. Id like to see a softer bed and maybe a sheepskin cover. Although the bed warms as advertised, I cant really recommend it. It doesnt have a cozy feel.
