![]() Solvit Deluxe Telescoping Pet Ramp By: Solvit Average Rating: 3.5 Total Reviews: 20 More Information So far so good! Just purchased and happy with what we got. Our boys, two 75 lbs./6 mos. English Mastiffs are adjusting well to walking up and down with supervision. Love the light-weight of our ramp and it fits great in our suv. Hopefully, as the boys get larger and heavier the ramp will continue to meet our needs. Very happy with this purchase. Great Pet Ramp We purchased this ramp several months ago and glad we did. I recommend this for any family that has a canine family member that has problems with getting up in cars or furniture. Our Little Guy (large Cocker Spaniel)has a bad knee and unable to jump up on the bed. I bought his ramp and it only took him a day or two to master climbing up on it. It has good traction so he does no slip. carpet samples made all the difference My 12 year old, 90 pound male golden retriever is using the ramp easily after 4 days of training with treats. What made all the difference was to use 4 13x17 inch carpet samples on the extended ramp because he was spooked by the sandpaper-like finish. The carpet samples are exactly the right width for the ramp. As for the problems people experienced, i.e., sharp edges and poor design of the plastic slide stops, I have not experienced these. Granted, the workmanship isnt great, but it does the job for my dog. I bought the ramp at my local bricks and mortar PetSmart store because I wanted to be able to return it easily if it was damaged or my dog just wouldnt use it (sorry Amazon). BTW, I can easily handle it by myself and Im a 5 foot, 125 pound, mid-60s female. GREAT PET PRODUCT This ramp is easy to use and lightweight. Excellent for older dogs or those who cannot use stairs for health reasons. Our dog just had spinal surgery and this product has made rehab much easier! Highly recommended! Pet Ramp is a great help I bought the pet ramp because my poor little (fat) doggy is sick. He is a German Shepherd that weighs about 60 pounds and has recently developed back problems (due to kidney disease which is no doubt caused by the pet food recall). It was really hard on the poor guy trying to get up and down the stairs and into the car for numerous vet visits. He would fall down trying to follow us up the stairs and sometimes would just stare hopefully at us, hoping we would carry him up the stairs or into the car. Since he weighs so much, it was really hard for me (a 52" woman) to try to carry him up and down the stairs or into the car. Now with the pet ramp, it makes his life (and mine) a lot easier. It took him a few days to get used to it, but we use it on the porch so he can come in the house whenever he wants and use it for the weekly trips to the vet. (He gets into the back of my Honda Accord--the ramp fits at a slight angle but is sturdy enough when top is placed on the back seat so he can get in and out of the car). The ramp telescopes back into itself and it has a handle so it easily fits into the back of the trunk. Its been a real life saver for me and my Boo. potentially harmful to pet safety The top side rails did not include caps for the top of the rails on either side thereby leaving exposed sharp metal which can easily catch and slice your pet. This, in my opinion, is an unconscionable omission in manufacturing when approximately four safety caps could solve the problem. Ramp Defects I ordered and received it in time to use for our 70 lb. dog just after her ACL knee surgery. It has worked well and helped with the extra care needed for dogs during the post-op rehab stages of this type of operation. I needed the ramp just days after it arrived so I did not have time to consider any returns or exchanges, however, there are some major complaints I would like to register now that I have some more time. #1 - Poor packaging and safety strap design - The packaging of the ramp is probably OK for retail store use, however, the shipper simply slapped a lable on the box and sent it out. During shipment the box tore in several places and the end actually was already opened. Due to the excessive motion and bouncing around the safety strap and catch was already broken upon receipt - the metal snap part was ripped out of the plastic strap. #2 - Inadequate design of the two plastic slide stops - After only two normal uses, one of the plastic slide stops broke completely off. The other one is loose and also about to fall off. In my opinion a heavy, hard rubber material would work much better than plastic. #3 - Very sharp aluminum edges - At the top of the side rails, the aluminum is very sharp - right where a dog is likely to step a bit to the side as it nears the top of the ramp. In my opinion, these rails could easily cut a dogs foot pads and cause serious injury. I have avoided this by covering the ramp top with a heavy towel whenever it is being used. This extra step in protection is not indicated anywhere in the instructions and should net even be necessary with a better design. Pet Ramp The ramp is light and easy to use once you get your pet used to it. However there were some plastic end-pieces that fell off as soon as I took it out of the box that were meant to protect from sharp edges- I put duct tape over the areas. So if that kind of thing doesnt bother you- I think this is worth it when you compare it to the price and/or weight of other similar products advertised on Amazon. Slip and Slide -- doesn't work, dog hates it, out $100 Jessie, my 14-year-old arthritic 68 lb. labrador, slipped on the ramp, and could only use it if I supported and practically carried her up the ramp. Additionally, her feet would hit the plastic (outside the carpet) which offers even less traction than the carpet. She did not like it at all. Having to support/lift her defeated the purpose of the ramp. The ramp had a year guarantee, but the manufacturer said I had to go through the dealer to return it. So I went through the dealer, but then the manufacturer said I took too long (Id had it about 6 months). I asked the manufacturer about retrofits, but there were none. So I have a very large, very expensive paperweight in my garage. And I still have to lift Jessie up stairs and in vehicles. Works But As for Quality... Its wonderful that this is so light to carry around and really is a great help for my dog. He easily learned how to go up and down the ramp too! But, my husband cut his arm several times the first day we used it. It has these sharp edges that youll have to tape up or do something to dull. And part of the sand paper-like cover is already coming loose (at the first day). Good price compared to the others though... What we expected................. and more This ramp is just what we expected, plus! It is easier to extend than a folding ramp, is very lightweight and therefore very portable. We have 3 Rotties 85#-120# and only Hobo who is blind and 120# has difficulty getting adjusted. We only need the ramp to load/unload away from home. But away from home is where pets will have the most distractions, so weve taken the time to train our dogs (using treats and praise) to use the ramp. A little more training at home with Hobo will get him used to using it. I read some of the other reviews and it seems rough handling in shipping and not understanding you need to train pets to use the ramp are the cause of many of the complaints. The only thing I have difficulty with is the snap strap used to keep the ramp from opening when not in use is a little difficult to undo, so I dont use it. A good product at a fair price. Ok, not great Perhaps its just hard teaching an old dog new tricks. However, Im still struggling to get my 70 pound lab used to the ramp in/out of a Toyota Sequoia. I dont know if its the sound of his paws on the treads or the fact that he steps wide and slips on the outer rail occasionally. Im thinking about gluing artificial carpet onto the ramp to see if that make it easier him. My advice would be to start using a ramp before your pet needs the ramp. Different item from Description I had a long, well thought out review dealing with this item for sale on Amazon that I had bought. When it was written, even though I was very tired and didnt want to do it, I put a period on it and scrolled down to see "Preview your Review. I did that too. When I went to go back to "create your review" the page was empty. I dont know why but Im not going to re-write everything I did before and it makes me wonder about Amazon. How many times has this happened before? Pet Ramp is a good value. The ramp is well made and very strong. Just watch for sharp edges in spots. Some plastic gaurds were just lying in the box and needed re-glueing. Not what I had expected. Unfortunately we returned the ramp. It was a huge disappointment (from the package being damaged/open to the design). If both my husgband and I had not been previously been happy with our shopping experiences with Amazon, we wouldnt be returning to make purhases. best value All these pet ramps are pricey, but this one is sturdy, easy to use, and not too heavy. We used it for the first time this morning and it was great. I can keep it in the dog car and use it by myself. the rubbery surface easily dents in general it is a good light-weight ramp. However, its rubbery surface was dented a bit when I got the ramp, and my dog which was about 105 lbs succeded in denting it more quite easily the very first day. just a little improvement needed This dog ramp is working out fine but just one thing that could be improved. My dog has torn the sandpaper like covering on the ramp in his third assisted trip up into the truck, it should be a painted on anti-slip or a heavyer beltlike stuff, a dog of 60 pounds using the front legs to dig can tear it easly. Also, the two rubber end bumpers on the inside ramp, keep coming off--they need glued or something, other than that this is a great product and sure beats lifting an old pupy into the pickup. Pet Ramp This is the best ramp I have used. Currently I have 4 that I use for a Pot Belly Pig. This ramp is extremely light weight, easy to extend or close. It has a wavy surface with a non slip tread that is much better then carpet. This ramp far exceeds the others i have used and the price is extremely reasonable Above Average Dog ranp Very convenient and lightweight ...only problem I had was that when I was extending the ramp (this was the first time using it) I got my fingers stuck in b/w the two pieces - I scraped up my fingers pretty badly! Just have to be a little careful when adjusting it to its proper length Above Average Dog ranp Very convenient and lightweight ...only problem I had was that when I was extending the ramp (this was the first time using it) I got my fingers stuck in b/w the two pieces - I scraped up my fingers pretty badly!
