My 10-year old Border Collie/Golden Retriever mix had been showing subtle signs of canine cognitive dysfunction for a few months, getting worse in the last month. He had a lot of fear issues that just kept mounting: lamps, air conditioners, the digital camera, anything that flashed or beeped and often seemed confused and lethargic on walks, sleeping during the day and pacing at night. After a physical exam ruled out any other problems, we decided to try the Cholodin as a first attempt at treating this disorder. We hoped to avoid Anipryl because of the possible gastric side effects. I ordered the Cholodin from Amazon/Entirely Pets on a Tuesday morning, and my order was received Thursday afternoon! My dog got his first dose that afternoon, and on Saturday morning went on a two-mile ravine hike with a friend and his dogs. He never slowed down, never showed fear or confusion. Within three days, his fear of the evil beeping window a/c had dissipated, he was once again remembering and participating in his "normal" routines, and he was sleeping through the night. Now, after a week, he is no longer lethargic during the day and, for the first time in his life, even handled a middle-of-the-night thunderstorm with relative calm, no pacing and panting. I have not noticed the myoclonal jerking that is sometimes seen with this product, and he certainly does not seem hyperactive (the border collie part of his genetics ensuring a high degree of activity as "normal" for him). I have my happy, goofy puppy back, thanks to Cholodin!!! Cholodin Canine Tablets These have been such an help to my Dashound she is doing well since we placed her on these pills. Thank you for your excellent service. Jazmines Mommy Diane Moore Could help some dogs With canine cognitive disorder, this has been a useful item. It did cause an increase in myoclonic jerking, which could be unrelated to the Cholodin and related to what we think is hepatic (liver failure) neurological manifestations. I would not hesitate to recommend this product for consumers with pets who clearly have cognitive disfunction. I would advise consumers to first do a blood chemistry panel to see if there is kidney or liver failure first. |
