![]() Suncast Deluxe Large Dog House By: Suncast Average Rating: 3.5 Total Reviews: 5 More Information Flimsy, thin, and a huge disappointment! A waste of money!! I used $90 in Amazon gift certs to buy this doghouse, and I only spent .19 cents on it, after taxes. I shipped for free. I wish Id never bought this doghouse! While it IS adorable, it is a waste of money! It it VERY flimsy. The plastic panels are very thin and wobbly. It was NOT easy to put together by oneself! The bottom 2 panels, the floor, are so thin and the tabs on them are very small, very thin, and very breakable! The whole house snaps together, but you really need 2 people to assemble it. I finally got it all together, and put the door flaps on. They are held on by wingnuts that do NOT screw on, but stay on with force. (However, it says in the instructions NOT to force them on!!) They DO NOT stay on, however! And there are no threads on the posts to thread them on. The door panels keep falling off. There IS a channel inside that collects fluids, but there is nowhere for those fluids to run off. There are no holes to drain those fluids. This morning, the morning after I put it together, I go out there and it is already coming apart at the back. I wish Id had my camera to take the video (I didnt know we could submit video reviews). Next time, I WILL video this cheap house for you to see. I have a Labrador Retriever, and while he seems to LOVE his new house, I wish Id paid another $60 and got the large dogloo. His other dogloo cracked on the bottom and I thought this cute house would replace it, but it does not. His dogloo was VERY heavy and very sturdy compared to this thin house. I am afraid the rain will not even stay out, considering how the whole thing goes together. The roof comes in two pieces that you slide together, and I am not convinced the rain will stay out. BEWARE: This house is CUTE, but thats about all! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY LIKE I DID! Get the dogloo made of sturdy construction instead! I should have listered to the other reviewers who said the same, about how flimsy it is; one persons blew across the yard because they didnt have it staked down. Well, you need to stake it down because it hardly weighs anything! I cant stake mine down because the darn thing keeps coming apart! I am thinking of taking a torch to the tabs to melt them in place, if thats what Ive got to do to keep it together! What a rip off! Im off now to send Suncast an email to complain about it! Please dont buy this house, youll be sorry! The smaller ones, for smaller dogs, are probably a lot sturdier. I think the size of this one was its folly...... very cheap, flimsy and unacceptable! Its not much stronger than cardboard, probably because of its size. Such a disappointment!!! Im stuck now with a cute yard decoration that is practically useless. What good is it if it wont stay together? UPDATE: I emailed Suncast to tell them about their flimsy house, and here is their reply: Thank you for contacting Suncast, Ms. Block. We are very disappointed to hear such frustration from our consumer. I forwarded your message to the Engineering department for their expertise. They would ask that you try one more time to assemble the unit. They did state that the floor tabs are really hard to get together and added that If the connections arent snapped correctly, the whole thing can come apart. They have asked me to try to encourage you to try it again and be sure each snap gets snapped. If you do get this deluxe dog house assembled, it becomes a very strong house. Please let me know if you are successful or not. I am here to help you. Caryl A. Theilgaard Suncast Corporation 701 N. Kirk Road Batavia, Illinois 60510 Ph: 630-406-6660 Fax: 630-879-6112 good deal!! This dog house was really a pretty good deal for the money. Its nice looking and easy to put together. After researching other dog houses i thought this one was no better or worse. If you dont want a wood dog house, then you will get a plastic one that looks nice, but isnt quite as sturdy as wood. It went to gether in 5 minutes. It has a nice solid roof. The floor is very thin and cheap, but that is what most of the plastic low end ones are. Very easy to put together This dog house was very easy to put together just make sure you read and follow the directions it snaps into place but you have to have it lined up right before snapping in each piece but very light and cute and the letters come with it so you can add a name to the front and it comes with clear doors that you can put on and take off easy I left them off but will put them on in colder weather all in all a great product for the amount you spend Economical purchase I have an older dog, so didnt want to spend a ton of money for something, not knowing how long it would be used (sadly), despite the other reviews, I wanted to find out myself. It was very simple to put together, I did not find it flimsy, maybe if all the tabs arent locked into place. Someone said theirs blew away in a wind storm, but it IS recommened to be fastened down, which I did, made a frame of wood and fastened it to it, seems to be very sturdy. I cut a scrap piece of carpet to fit and my dog is now in HEAVEN! Yes it isnt insulated, but think that can be easily remedied by anyone who is a little bit handy. I think what I like the best is not having to paint it, wash it down and be done with it! It is also a very cute house. Average This is a pretty good dog house for middle size dogs. I have a rottweiler and she can easily dismantle it when she is bored. It has no insulation properties so do not depend on it in the cold. If your dog is under 60 lbs its a good buy. Otherwise, go with something a bit more sturdy. It is Okay The dog house is easy to construct, but it is a little flimsy. We had a windstorm, and the dog house was blown across the yard and fell apart. It also doesnt provide very much insulation to keep our dog warm/cool from the weather. |
