  Easy Step Pet Ramp By: PET GEAR Average Rating: 4.0 Total Reviews: 37 More Information They are okay, but could be designed better  On: 2010-07-20I bought these steps for my elderly cats, so the steps can easily accommodate their weight without a problem (they weight between 10-14 lbs). I do like that these steps are taller, so my cats can easily get up onto my taller bed. The problem with these particular steps is that they are angled downward, so when they crawl up and down the stairs, it throws off their balance. Try to imagine climbing up and down stairs yourself with the steps on an angle. Not exactly very safe. The steps should have been designed flat and on a right angle. Im not sure what the purpose is for this design, but it doesnt seem to serve any purpose but to create problems for them. If I had to purchase steps again, I would not pick these. Its not worth my pets risking a potential fall and injury. Great!  On: 2010-07-09These steps are lightweight but sturdy and easy to put together. I also bought the 3 step version so that my dog could get into my bed at night. My mini schnauzer had a mild problem with his back so I got these to help him recover and they worked just great! It was very easy to train him to use them. Well worth the price. Just what I needed. On: 2010-07-01My bed is really high up. About 30". I needed some steps so that my puppy could get up and off my bed as he wanted instead of him constantly jumping on the side of the bed and whining at all hours of the night. This did the trick. These steps were very easy to put together. Getting these was also a good training exercise for him because he did not know how to go up and down steps before now. It learned how to do it fast! Now he goes up and down on his own without the incentive of a treat! These steps dont budge either, then again my puppy is only 10lbs right now. My only disappointment is that I thought the color would be darker like in the customer photo (I ordered it in cocoa), but its not. Its lighter. Best Sturdy Useful Pet Steps On: 2010-05-23I got these steps for my small dog who just couldnt get onto my very high adjustable bed without help. They came promptly and were insanely easy to set up which was wonderful & right away as I was putting them together I could tell they were going to be more solid & sturdy than all the ones Id seen at the pet type stores or checked out online. They were very well made, solid & sturdy, they had a nice look and were nicely carpeted as well...no cheap look to them. They also were wider than most, yay, and each step slanted VERY slightly up to be of better use when the pet runs up them. They were the perfect height too, just a great height so that no matter what level my bed was positioned in they still provided enough height for my pet to get on the bed...which is saying A LOT because my bed is very high to begin with and only gets higher with the changes as you adjust it. My dog wasnt afraid, he just sprang running right up and down them, even my cat loved to perch on them and use them himself too sometimes even though he doesnt need them. Excellent product, these are the pet steps to buy!!!! Very Good Product On: 2010-04-20These steps are just the right height for our new bed. We have a older dog and when the bed was set up she could not get on the bed without help. These steps work very well. With just a few days of coaxing her with a treat she is now able to go up or down without any help or coaxing. I would recommend this product. Too steep for my chihuahua On: 2010-01-23I bought the 2 step heavy duty version because of the 12 inch x 12 inch step treads. If you look at the alternate pictures of this product you can see that the 2 steps are at a noticable downward slant. My chihuahua learned to use the steps going up but wouldnt go back down due to the downward slant and height of the steps. This product would have been better if the steps were level. 2 steps that were level would have worked fine, even though the total height would have been a few inches less. I returned the product. Received replacement after contacting the company  On: 2010-01-07When I received the steps from Amazon, I had the same problem as some others. The holes and dowels didnt line up at all...on the very FIRST piece. I contacted the company who made them, and a rep. named Julie emailed me back. They sent out a replacement - the whole thing - immediately, and sent a prepaid shipping label for me to return the defective one. The replacement was fine..I put it together in 15 minutes (with the help of a rubber hammer) and my 75 pound German Shepherd and 50 pound 14 year old dog had no problems using the steps to get up on the bed. Pet Steps are junk  On: 2010-01-07None of the dowels lined up with the holes. An inch difference. Its all cheap plastic so its not like you can "make it fit" - the plastic dowel will break off!! Okay but not great On: 2010-01-05These steps were about the best plastic ones I could find but they are just okay. Other steps commercial available were way too small and narrow and definitely not suitable for our 10-year-old 50lb boxer. These were, at least, easy to assemble. These steps "give" a bit when she steps on them and the lightweight, hollow plastic pieces make the unit feel less-than-sturdy even when placed on a non-slip rug. The steps are are tilted at a slight upward angle which makes them a little awkward for her when decending, a simple right angle step would have been better. Overall, she doesnt really care for them and they are now just taking up space in our closet. For inexpensive plastic steps, these are okay, just not the steps I was hoping for. I guess Ill have to build my own wooden ones to get the quality I really want. Odd Perspective for Dogs On: 2009-12-21I bought this for our beagles to get up on our high bed. They were easy to assemble and sturdy however the stairs themselves have a downward slant. My dogs are used to a ramp so this wasnt a new concept but they were uncomfortable with the steps...almost like they thought they were going to slide off. We worked with them for quite a while but in the end, returned them for a refund. Slanted steps  On: 2009-12-18I got these for my aging, overweight, going blind precious pal. The steps are not level. They slant downward. She fell right down them and splatted on the hardwood floor. : ( Returned. pet steps On: 2009-12-15Very happy with this purchase. we have 4 pugs. they all use the pets steps with ease. 3 are puppies and they learned to use the steps in one day. cant tell how much easier it is to have this wonderful product, than to have to pick up & put down 4 dogs. what a back saver. Nice Sturdy Product On: 2009-12-08The product was received promptly, and found it to be as described. The unit is sturdy, and is the right size for the bed. I like the wide,carpeted steps which provides plenty of traction for my dog. It took my Doxie about a week to get used to it, but now he really enjoys it. He sometimes goes up and down the steps for no apparent reason other than to enjoy the exercise. I am getting a two step model for the sofa in the living room. Pet steps On: 2009-11-09I got these for my minature schnauzer, who is a little plump 26 lbs, and they are definitely sturdy enough for her, but the way the step tilts up, they look kinda steep. She uses them, and I think in time she will get the hang of them. The are nice and wide, and very sturdy snap together plastic. I think they will last for a long time. The look is very modern and clean. Worth the money On: 2009-10-27I bought this a while ago but never got around to writing a review. We bought this for our 100 lb. Labrador Retriever because our bed is high and he is having some hip problems. It took him a few days to get comfortable with it but now he uses it all the time without a problem and I can tell hes happy about it. Seems expensive but its worth the money. Great Product On: 2009-10-27I bought this step for my aging cat. She used it as soon as I put it together which was very easy... Went out and bought two more Excellent! On: 2009-09-02My puppy took to the steps right away. My senior dog is still getting used to it, but she will come around soon enough. The steps are so easy to put together and they are sturdy and look like they will last for years and years. They are also easy to take apart, so we can take them on trips with us wherever we bring our dogs. I would definitely recommend this product. Tall Pet Steps On: 2009-07-19I recently purchase this product about a month ago. I was excited to receive the Steps and the price was great. However, I was quite disappointed when it arrived. I had to assemble the Steps and the quality of the plastic was cheap. I was even more disappointed to find that the carpeted step were attached by 2 flimsy strips of velcro. My Miniature Schanauser easily kicked the pads off climbing the steps. She now uses the Step Pads as a toy and she will not use the stairs in fear of slipping climbing the Steps with NO PADS!!! Very disappointed great steps for my golden On: 2009-07-09I have a young golden retriever diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia. I bought this for him to go up on our bed. At first he was a little scared, but then I put on his leash and put his paw on the first step and helped him go up the steps. I made him go up the steps ten times till he got comfortable with them and would praise him over and over. Now it isnt a big deal and he goes up easily. The steps are easy to put together and very sturdy. They will hold a large dog well. Really happy with this purchase. Pet Gear Pet Stairs On: 2009-06-13It works. It does what its supposed to. Perfect for the puppy On: 2009-01-25We chose this over other stairs because it was the tallest available while still providing a relatively small footprint. Rubber pads at the bottom keep it from moving around and the construction is fairly solid. Its very easy to put together also, you dont even need the instructions. It keeps out small dog from jumping off our tall bed so to us it works perfectly Expensive plastic. However, my dog likes it. On: 2009-01-20After buying a higher mattress I needed some steps for my aging pug to use to get on the bed. I get free shipping at Amazon so I looked at what they sold themselves. This one rated the highest with customers. One customer said it was hard to put together. That unfortunate customer must have got a bad part because this stair took me less than 5 minutes to put together. I mean, there are only 9 pieces. Anyway, I was worried about the high price but my pug took to it right away so that helped dampen any buyers remorse. Still, it is just plastic with a little bit of carpeting glued on so I feel $75.00 is way too high. Good thing for my pug I am a pushover for his needs. Dog Uses Steps to See Out Window On: 2008-12-15The Pet Steps arrived quickly and in good condition. They need to be assembled, but even I was able to put them together (although there was a mix-up of Spanish pages stapled into the English instructions). My dog learned to use them in one day, and the steps are tall enough so he can see out the window. I put a rug under the steps to keep them from sliding on the hardwood floor when he jumps off. This is their only drawback: they are a bit too lightweight, and my 20-pound dog can move them or knock them over if he is especially active (such as when he sees a cat). Duncan loves this helper On: 2008-10-06Purchased this set of steps to help our Scotty dog get up on the footstool that he uses to see outside. He is recovering from nonsurgical treatment for an ACL and this has been a great help to keep him from putting too much pressure on this hind leg. Would recommend this for any small to medium sized dog (or cat) to help them get where they want to be. Very pleased with service & product On: 2008-09-02I have a Chihuahua who is getting a little on in years. Since he sleeps on our bed a lot I wanted steps so he wasnt jumping down which is very hard on their legs. This had the appearance of being sturdier and better made than some others. Of course, the price is higher than some I considered but I pretty much believe you get what you pay for. The steps are sturdy and very simple to put together. Took maybe 5-10 minutes. Only complaint I guess is the instructions I got left out a page in English. Instead I got 2 in Spanish. No problem. You dont really even need instructions. Its that easy. The width & depth of each step was larger which I liked compared with others. Only problem Im having, which is not sellers fault, is that hes somewhat hesitant to use them. Takes a little prodding from me and food bribing, lol. Hell get used to it after awhile. Good product and and certainly sturdy enough for larger dogs & cats. I would recommend. Removable carpet for easy clean up. These have worked out perfect for my aging doxie. Considering buying a second set for daughters doxie. Easy Steps On: 2008-04-06Easy steps are easy to put together ( about 15 minutes ), and my little dog and cat enjoy the ease of climbing onto the daybed. It took no time for them to learn how to get up. The only problem the little dog encounters is trying to get down. The steps are a bit steep for her. The cat however has no problem. For the price of the steps and overall function, I am very satisfied and glad I made the purchase Had a hard time trying to assemble. I hope if someone else purchases the steps will write a review. I read the one review that was good and that was the reason for the purchase. The return policy of Amazon is easy. so much better On: 2007-12-11these steps are great! so much better than what u see on tv.. more substantial, dogs love them. shipped very fast and easy to do business with.. would buy again, highly recommend! |
