![]() Solvit PupSTEP Plus Pet Stairs By: Solvit Average Rating: 4.5 Total Reviews: 216 More Information Works great. Took some time to train my cat to use it but after busting her tail trying to jump enough times she gave in. Not for overweight dogs! I purchased these steps for my 9 lb weiner dog after getting tired of lifting her to my bed. For her, they work great - except for a little sliding action on my wood floors. Her 20 lb weiner dog buddy came over last weekend and cracked one of the legs. If you have a small dog who does not exceed whatever the weight limit is, I would recommend this product. The material they provide to apply to the steps (sticker-like) muffles the noise my small dog would normally make on the hard plastic surface of the steps. I can hardly hear her coming up the steps. Over-all, this is a good product for the money as long as a larger dog does not have the opportunity to test the strength - this is for small dogs only. If your dog has trouble learning at first... My dog, Stevie, went up the stairs just fine if there was a treat waiting at the top...however, using them on her own was a different story. She would sniff at them and seemed to be scared of them. My sister had just purchased similar stairs, and I asked her for training tips. She suggested draping something soft, like a towel or blaket, over the entire staircase, and also putting bits of dog foot on each step. It worked like a charm! I think that Stevie didnt like the little patches of "carpet" that come with the stairs; either that or she didnt like the plastic parts. Now she is using them all the time! Great purchase, considering how inexpensive and convenient the product is. good product but not for everyone I really like these pet stairs because they are nice looking, light weight, and foldable for storage. My bed is fairly high, and I purchased them for my 8 yr old 6 lb. toy poodle who recently had a back injury, and I didnt want her jumping off the bed. I would not recommend these for all but the smallest animals, as each step is pretty shallow. My dog was scared of them at first, because the plastic is noisy as she goes up and down, but I put a treat on each step and coaxed her up and down repeatedly, with lots of cheering and "yay, good girl!" to make a game of it, and she did get used to it. At first she RAN up the stairs (still a little scared of them) and went down slowly, but often jumping past the last step or two. But after about a week, she seemed very confident on them--actually seems to like them. So, while these worked for me, I really think that most dogs would be better off with deeper steps with a more solid feel to them. This design would be improved by having fewer but deeper steps, and carpet covering the risers as well as the step. Bottom line--if your pet is small or lightweight, and either easily adapts to new things, or you are patient about helping them get used to them and allow enough time, you may like these. Need to start when dogs are young I purchased this for older dogs who have trouble getting up on beds and sofas. They dont readily understand how to use it. I may yet get them trained but it is a struggle. This is a good product but will have more success with a young dog being trained. Solvit PupSTEP Plus Didnt take long to train Tiny to use the stairs. He is blind in one eye and needed help getting on and off my bed. With a night light to help illuminate the PupSTEP, Tiny has no problems navigating now. No assembly required We use the steps for our pet Chihuahua to climb up and down to our bed. However, the steps are too small and too narrow. We would have preferred perhaps three steps instead of four. We are in the process of training our eleven year old Chihuahua to climb them. She is very hesitant about the narrow steps but has no problem climbing our normal stairs both up & down two flights. Other than the size of the steps, we like the fact that it has rubber feet and stair threads to prevent slipping. We would reccomend this for small dogs who can be trained. The steps do not reach the top of our bed, but the design of our bed allows for an additional step for our "Chalupa" Love the pet stairs These pet stairs are great! Lightweight so makes it easy to move around if needed. Yet strong. My dog was a little leery of it the first day but now races up it so it has even become a good source of exercise for him! Ive only had it a few months but so far doesnt show any wear at all. Im really glad I got it AND I might add I found this exact model on several websites and Amazon had the best price - BY FAR!!! Worth the money! This product is perfect for my small, 10 lb., 13 yr. old dog. The stairs actually reach the top of the bed (ALOT of other steps dont). The price is affordable and it folds up easily for storage. All it took for my dog was a little training in order for her to use them. I placed a treat on each step and she walked up them without a problem and has been using them ever since. My 15 lb. cat also uses them (when hes being lazy :-) STEPS I LOVE THESE STEPS BUT NOT AS MUCH AS MY PUPPY DOES. SHE THINKS THEY OPEN UP THE WHOLE WORLD TO HER. Learning Curve I got these steps for my 13 year old dog because she is small and we have a high bed. I had hoped she would climb down them instead of jumping off. Well the old saying holds true sometimes, you cant teach an old dog new tricks. The steps are wonderful for my newly adopted terrier mix. She goes up and down like a pro. I think it is a great product but you have to have a willing subject to use them. Perhaps nice for small dogs... ...but did not work well for my 12 year old, 40 lb. mixed terrier. She was too afraid to use the steps because of the instability and slippery footing under her feet. These stairs do come with adhesive pads to place on the steps, but they do not seem to add to the comfort of the steps or aid in decreasing the possibility of skidding. When I did try to coax (force) her to use the steps, they jostled around so much that they frightened her even more. I will keep these steps, in case we ever get a smaller dog or another dog in the family needs them, however they do not seem like they would work for a medium-sized dog. I did like the ability to fold the steps, which makes for easy storage. solid and functional great purchase, great price, very useful and solid - our two little dogs dont usually like pet stairs because they dont feel stable but these are quite stable and they use them without a problem. and the stick-on grips make it possible for them to use the steps without slipping! definitely recommend purchasing this product. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000MD57OO/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title Perfect for Older Dogs When my little dog used to jump off my bed she often hurt herself. Not any more! The pupSTEP stairs fit right to the top of my bed, so now she can just walk down them. Perfect for older dogs with leg or back problems to eliminate the pain of jumping down so far. Also works on couches, chairs, and outside patio steps that are too big. Superb Steps for Aging Kitty My cat is 17+ years old and he loves to sleep on my bed. He was having great difficulty climbing the bed. These steps are fabulous. They are light, convenient and easy to clean. The little pads you place on each step can be brushed clean. They actually trap excess litter on my kittys feet. I especially like these stairs because, if needed, you could actually fold and place under the bed if no longer needed. I highly recommend these stairs! Excellent solution for my small dogs We needed a solution to help our mini mini schnauzers get to high places they could not jump to. They were leary of the steps at first but with some treat-nudging to get started it is now used without hesitation. My only suggestion is reduce the noise. The steps come with a non-skid patch to apply but it doesnt cover the entire step. Their little paws and nails touch some plastic and make a startling clicking sound every time they use it. Great item! Easy to fold! Light weight! IT WORKS! I got this pet stair for my miniature schnauzer. She is extremely afraid of stairs because she once fell down several steps while at a friends house. I leave it by my bed and although she is still learning I really like this item because is inexpensive, folds really easily, and its light weight. No way to go wrong! I just would not recommend it for really heavy pets since it is made from a plastic material. Awesome Pet Stairs! These pet stairs are perfect for helping our 5 lb yorkie get up to our bed. No more waking up at 3 a.m. to let her down and pick her up!! pupstep love it my dogs can easily get up now with out me lifting them. they are small dogs but i have a bad shoulder and can not lift any more. solvit pupSTEP plus pet stairs These stairs are great for our two dachsunds. Their short legs prevented them from jumping on our bed. Now they can get up there easily. The stairs are sturdy but we have them on a carpet, so I dont know if they would slide on uncarpeted surfaces. Our dogs take a running start so they are almost jumping on them. The carpet stick-ons give the steps a non-slip surface. I found it easier to peel off the backing if you bend them in the middle and start to peel it off there. It's a great buy It is light weight for anyone to lift. Its about 7lbs. Folds down where you can store in a closet, under a bed, or any small space. My bed, a king size, sat pretty hit off the floor but the steps came about 2 inches short of the top which was great. I wouldnt recommend for a pet over 30lbs because there isnt enought room between each step to allow your pet to climb properly. I have a cockerspaniel who is 25lbs. He was slightly intimadated by the steps because I live in a ranch with no steps at all but if your pet is okay in climbing steps, I would recommend this product to you. Great for Cats too!! Great product, but dog is skittish I purchased these stairs because my son and daughter-in-law have them for their two Maltese dogs who use them regularly. Unfortunately, my adopted 5-year-old Maltese, Lucy, is still skittish about using hers. She has been with us only for 4 weeks, and I am in the process of training her by using a treat on each stair in order to lure her up them. (Sometimes she does not want the treat enough, though!) I have used double-sided tape to add napped fabric to the edges of the steps so that she is not frightened by the sound her toenails make when she does not get her foot squarely on the pad. That has helped a lot. I think all will be well when Lucy is completely settled in and accustomed to being part of our family. I gave a four-star rating mainly because I have modified the steps in order to make them more appropriate for my dogs needs. Just the right step. Were very happy with the Solvit PupSTEP. We have two special needs cats who love to sleep on the bed, but cant always jump up on their own. They both have found this stair system easy to use and it folds up easily when we need to vacuum. Were glad we purchased it!! Great steps for our cat! Our 11 year old Siamese was having trouble getting up on our bed and so we ordered these steps for her to use. At first she ignored them (except to scratch them!), but within a couple of days she was RUNNING up and down them! They worked perfectly for our purposes. Works Great, but watch out for the shipping and handling charges! The steps work fine, but I would not have bought them had I know that the separate shipping charges would be almost half the cost of the product, making them quite expensive for what they are. Advantages include being able to tuck them under the bed, compact enough that they dont take up too much floor space, and easy for my too small cat to learn how to use. After only two or three lessons she was happily coming up on the bed to sleep with us. Disadvantage is the final cost. If you can handle the final price tag of about $50, then purchase it. Great pup steps! I bought this for my chihuahua and it has been perfect. The carpets on each step keep it from being slippery and the whole set up is extremely stable. I highly recommend it for anyone with a small dog. Works great once your dog likes it! The steps are very sturdy and work well once your dog is trained to use them. I own an overweight beagle who struggles and needed to be lifted onto the bed. It took lots of treats and praise, but now uses them and works great. We are still practicing going down on them...but seems like they will work great! up and down Works as advertised, puppy learned after a couple of tries. Folds down and slides under the bed when not in use. It is also nice that I can fold it and place in under the bed when I dont want the dog on the bed. Our bed essential! These steps are essential for not only our small yorkie but even our 75 lbs german shepherd...our 7 year old daughter TOO! They are made extremely well and I couldnt imagine not having them. They are perfect for our bed and our dogs couldnt live w/o them. Even though they can jump on our high bed w/o them. Exactly what we were looking for... These steps were just what our little Yorkie needed to help him be independent. Hes so short, he cant jump up on our bed, with the steps he can come and go as he pleases. When we dont need them, they can be folded up and slid under the bed. Very nice product, we had looked at different places including pet stores, nobody had anything like this. At most places that we had looked all they had were very big steps, these are perfect. Thanks Amazon for making this buy a pleasure. Pleased with steps I have a dachshund with a back problem. It didnt take him long to learn to use the steps. He now goes up and down the steps and his back seems to be getting better. The steps are sturdy and the perfect height for the bed and the furniture. doggie steps I purchased these doggie steps for my Min Pin. She absolutely loves them. It took her about a half a day to get used to them, now she climbs up and down. I love them too, I dont even take them down. They just sit next to the bed and my dog just uses them all the time. Pet Stairs very durable, I bought this item for my bulldog to get in and out of the car, and I am very happy with the stairs. Doggie Stairs These doggie stairs are absolutely wonderful! We have 3 dogs and each one of them got the hang of it very quickly. Would definitely recommend to anyone with smaller dogs that have problems either getting up on the bed or jumping off the bed and not wanting them to injure their backs. pet stairs VERY NICE THEY WORK EXACTLY AS I WANTED.THE ONLY THING I WOULD CHANGE IS TO MAKE THEM A LITTLE TALLER. Best alternative to "Doggy Steps" Being the owner of multiple 3- and 4-step "Doggy Steps®" in the living room (yep, our two dogs get to go on the sofa and loveseat -- which are kept covered, of course), I found I needed another when my new mattress raised the height of my bed and our 15-year-old dog could no longer climb up using the makeshift foam bolster ramp. Tried the 4-step Doggy Steps from the living room couch and it worked fine. Problem: They are no longer available. Other options were VERY expensive, especially if shipped to Hawaii, since most sellers only ship UPS or FedEx 2nd day air and charge full rate. Solution. The Solvit PupSTEP Plus Pet Stairs from Amazon.com to the rescue! PROS: Easy to set-up (and easily folds down to 16" x 30" x 5½" for storage under a bed, etc., if needed), light, very sturdy (can support 120+ pounds), affordable (especially with Amazon.com free shipping -- THANK YOU Amazon.com, from Hawaii, where shipping is almost always an expensive problem). Also higher than Doggy-Steps (top step is about 6" higher above the floor), but same "footprint". Enclosed steps (siderails) safer than open steps. The top step is 19" above the floor; Steps are 15" wide by 6" deep; and the front-to-back measurement of the unit when in use is 24". CONS: Very low-pile carpeted steps are not as soft and slip-resistant as the sheepskin-covered Doggy Steps. Steps are steeper, but still can be navigated by older/smaller dogs with some practice and a little training. I bought two! perfect pet steps Perfect pet steps. Easy to fold up when not in use. Easy to clean. Light weight but sturdy. great steps these steps are wonderful...i had priced the same steps in a couple of pet stores for double the price...ended up buying them on amazon and they are great...my cat is older and had trouble jumping on to the bed...these steps were ideal...they are just the right height for a bed or sofa and are pretty sturdy...super easy to assemble and my cat just loves them...no more problems for her jumping on to bed or sofa...i would recommend them. This is our 2nd set of pet stairs We have 2 small dogs, a papillion and a yorkie, with 8 small legs. Jumping down from the bed or couch, when they were too impatient to get down before I could reach them to lower them carefully to the floor, would sometimes cause yelps of pain. After one set of Pupstep Plus pet stairs in the bedroom proved wonderous, we just purchased another set for the couch. Now even our cats use the steps. It comes already assembled and arrived quickly. Highly recommend works like a charm I was a little hesitant when I ordered this product since the reviews were "mixed." However these steps work very well for the intended use which is for an 18 y.o., 14 lb cat. He has no problem going up or down the steps to get on/off the bed and started using them immediately w/o any coaxing. They are not very substantial, but they do not have to be for this particular use. I like the fact that they are very easy to move if necessary. Although I dont use a rug underneath the steps on my hardwood floor, the suggestion is probably a good one if you have a pet thats heavier than 15lbs. 2nd time purchasing, works great This purchase was the second time I bought the Pet Stairs for my chihuahuas. The first one was broken by a friend of one of our grandchildren. She did not know better and tried to use them as steps for herself. They broke, but not the fault of the product. They work great for small dogs, just not for human pets !! I highly recommend this product. Misleading dimensions I thought this product was 31" high from reading the description on Amazon, but from floor to top step, measuring vertically, it is 19". The 31" measurement is the step distance on a slant from 1st step to top. Overall, I am very happy though. They are sturdy and do not move on my carpeting. I have 2 cats and one weighs 13 lbs. and he can use them without moving the steps. My cats love the spongy step pads and playing underneath the steps too. I would recommend to anyone that has a pet that needs a boost up on the bed or favorite chair. Good for my senior guy. Used by Chihuahua and Ferrets This a a quality durable folding step stair which I leave propped up by my bed for use by my ferrets and 6.5lbs chihuahua. I had to train my chihuahua to use this by leaving food up the steps but she has started to use them on her own when she wants. The ferrets also like going up & down the steps however when I first propped it up they sometimes tried to remove the padding which I have since trained them not to do. Good for small dogs Our bed is pretty tall and we were worried about the stress on our min-pin particularly from jumping down. The PupStep steps are sturdy enough and fit well at the foot of our bed next to our cedar chest. Our dog is 7 years old and weighs 10 lbs. He can get up and down the steps easily. Its been about a week and with the use of treats he is starting to use it on his own instead of jumping up and down. I definitely recommend these steps for a SMALL dog. I dont think the size of the steps are right for larger dogs. Perfect set of steps for my 3 pound Yorkie My wife and I have a tall bed and wanted to be able to sleep at night while the dog got up and down without having to lift her on and off the bed. We now sleep better. Petstep I have two of these for my elderly, arthritic cats. They can now enjoy the sun on two beds that they were unable to jump onto. Stores easily although they are always set up at my house. I love them and so do the cats. Not for all dogs Bought these steps for our slightly overweight, older dog. He didnt take to them at all. He just couldnt get used to the plastic steps which scared him when he first tried them out. To be fair, we live in a one-story home and our dog isnt used to stairs. Still, I think they would have been ok if they were werent so steep and narrow and if they were made of fabric instead of plastic. Overall, nice steps, easy to move around and I liked that you could fold and store them away under the bed. Just not for my dog. works for my 60 pound dog This has been such a help for me. My 60 pound Golden is having knee problems, again and it hurts her to jump up. adn it hurts my back to lift her. I use these steps to get her in the car (SUV). They are easy to operate and store in the car. my dog has no troble navigating them and they support her fine. Perfect for small pets. We purchased this for our old cat who can no longer jump up on the bed and its perfect for him. Would probably work for small dogs as well. However, the steps are too shallow and close together for a larger dog to use. stairs for pets The fold up stairs makes life easier for our 10 yr old cat to get up on the beds now. Very well made plastic easy to fold up .Very happy with this buy. Great Stairs for Small Dogs I had surgery and couldnt lift anything over 10 lbs. Since my dachshund weighs more than that I needed something that would assist her getting on and off the bed. So I ordered it. It came and we only had to put some self-sticking carpet on the steps that came with the steps. At first she was afraid of it because it was new to the room, but after she went up and down a couple of times it was a breeze for her. I think they are great and so does my dachshund. Great Doggie Stairs These stairs are great and well built for the smaller dogs/cats. So much cheaper then the carpeted stairs....Easy to keep clean, and it folds to put under bed when you dont use it. Very convenient and my Chihuahuas love it. Great customer service Unfortunately my steps came in cracked (they were made of plastic). I contacted the Company and not only did they tell me to keep the steps, but they immediately credited my account. Very, very responsive and I would certainly buy again. PupSTEP Plus Pet Stairs The PupSTEP is light but study. Our cat, who has never jump up on anything, loves the fact he can now get on the bed and sleep all day. I would purchase another one should I need another one. Doggie Stairs I love it! My Lhatese loves it. Unfortunately it does take up a lot of space but its worth it! EXCELLENT PRODUCT!!!!!!!! This item has been perfect for my 3.5 pound Chihuahua:) It took a little coaxing at first with some treats but after a couple of days he flies up them. He still jumps off the bed to get down. I would defiantly recommend this product. Steps now in basement Box arrived banged up. Setup was simple but the small carpet insets were not in the box. I called the company and it took over 2 weeks to get them. In that time the dog tried the steps and would slide on them. She would not go up the steps. Finally applied the treads but the dog will not go up or down the steps. Overall they are now in the basement. Very Surprised Well I was skeptical...but as the title suggested I was really surprised. They work as they should, perfect height for our new bed that sits about 4 inches higher. One qualm I have is that even with the little feet sometimes the stairs seem to slip a little (hardwood floors w/o poly); not enough that it bothers the dogs getting onto the bed but enough that I hope it doesnt get worse. For the price though these are outstanding; cuz I looked for a good while and didnt find anything more appealing...go with these. EXCEPTIONAL PRODUCT! My toy poodle was diagnosed with a disc problem. I believe it all stemmed from jumping off a high bed. I just wish I had gotten these steps LONG before she showed signs of problems. If you have a little dog that likes to sleep with you, these are a must. Teach them now to use them and they will appreciate it when they get older. Very little assembly required, bascially some tread strips and they are ready for use. We also take our pets on our RV and these will work great for the bed in it too! Light weight, yet very sturdy. I searched the entire internet and these were the best, offering the most economical price I could find! life saver these steps are a god send. we have a corgi and he does not liked to be picked up but getting him into our van for trips was a problem until we got the steps and now he sees the steps come out and he is very excited because he knows he is going for a ride. i would recommend them for others with the same or similar problems Solvit Pet Stairs These are nice stairs, lightweight and sturdy. The height is a bit low for the newer, deep mattresses; however, it is a good height for sofas, chairs, etc. Dogs dont take to this naturally, there is a training curve but its fairly short. Overall, if you have a smaller dog, this should work quite well for you. Solvit PupSTEP Plus Pet Stairs Ordered 2 and they both arrived next day. I couldnt believe it! Easy to assemble and theyre working out just great for my cat whos recuperating from multiple double back leg surgeries. At first, didnt think he was going to use them, but he just needed to get the hang of it. Without them, he wouldnt be able to get on my bed or look out the window. Dont know if I will ever be able to put them away, but knowing they will collapse basically flat, is a real plus. Had done some online comparisons, and ordering from Amazon was a good deal. Plus Pet Stairs are helpful Steps were basically just as pictured, came quickly, however, the actual steps themselves seem to be quite short for our dog (Westie). She will still use them but seems to have to focus to actually make each step quickly. Works well as she was unable to get up on the bed any longer as she ages and these make all the difference Mostly a good deal The steps were purchased so my 3 and a half lb. yorkie, Teddy, wouldnt jump off of our kingsize bed. It works for that purpose and he has mastered climbing the stairs as well although he does it with some hesitation. The only complaint I have is that the pieces of carpet on two of the steps have come loose from the plastic. I will have to get some kind of epoxy and re-glue them to the steps, so that is a little inconvenient, but overall I am satisfied with how these steps work. We have a small space in our bedroom and they are just the right size to use off the corner of the bed. 4 step stairs Higher than regular dog stairs, which is very good, and this one is handy because it folds for storage under the bed. Only drawback is that the treads are not as deep as other dog steps so my tiny maltese and yorkie(both under 5 lbs)had a hard time getting used to it - not enough room for front and back feet - its still awkward for them, but theyre doing it. If you dont need the fold-down feature, Id recommend getting other stairs with deeper treads. Good doggy stairs at a reasonable price! Do some research in locating similar stairs and you will find that some can be outrageously expensive. This one does the job nicely at a cost of under $40... We never take it down and our Maltese just climbs up the stairs and into the bed now. I never have to worry that he will be stuck in bed or that he will be injured trying to get back up or down the floor. Plus we dont have carpet to cushion their fall -- the stairs saves us time, worry and vet bills to repair any possible bone injuries! My only criticism is to have non-skid feets built into the product... those flimsy foam stickers just dont cut it. Works Fine These steps worked perfectly for my Yorkie (4lbs). It did take him about a week to use them on his own. If you have a larger dog it may be difficult for them to use the stairs coming down. They are pretty steep. Shipping was quick and this was the cheapest I found online. Ok for the money I have a Shih Tzu that needs help getting up on the bed. These steps are tall enough and he does use them but they needed to be weighted down as they will skid on rug or wood. Not quite as sturdy as I would have liked but do the job. SOLVIT pupSTEP THEY ARE JUST GREAT !!!!IT,S A PLEASURE TO GET AN ITEM THAT IS EXACTLY AS PICTURED AND ADVERTISED. !!!! NO ASSEMBLY REQUIRED EXCEPT TO SNAP THE BACK TWO LEGS INTO POSITION, WHICH WAS EASY. A SIMPLE ITEM, LIGHT WEIGHT, EASY TO MOVE AND MY LITTLE DOG NOW THINKS SHE IS A PRINCESS . I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND THEM TO ANYONE WITH A SMALL AND SPOILED DG. "A big help" What a big help these stairs have been for our cocker spaniel who is 13 years old! It took a few tries before she got used to it, but now she goes up and down them without any coaxing! They have been a blessing! I would recommend them to anyone with an older dog or cat with stiff joints, having to jump up and down to get on the couch or bed. Thanks again! Great for Kitten With Cerebellar Hypoplasia My littlest kitten (Princess-Sissy) was born with cerebellar hypoplasia, and as a result does not have full function of her hind legs. When I noticed that she was using the bedspread to claw her way up to the bed, and then jump down, my friend Stephanie suggested that I get a set of steps for the little one. Well, these steps are just right for a small kitten. She is now 7 months old, and climbs up these step just fine. Sometimes she walks down the steps to get off the bed, but sometimes she just jumps--silly girl. My oldest cat, Squeak (who really doesnt need these steps, BTW), was climbing on them today, so she gives it a "paws-up" too. I guess satisfaction depends on how heavy and impatient the pet is. These steps work for me (though Im too heavy to use them...:-) ), Sissy and Squeak. Im considering getting another set for the sofa in the living room. Cat stairws Great product. Even can train a cat to use it after putting some time in. Now she can get on the bed again. Good for old cats. Not a bell ringer, but okay. I got this for my older cocker spaniel who couldnt make the jump to our bed about 30% of the time. She uses the stairs, but they move easily. Often, as she takes her last step to the bed, the stairs scoot away from the bed such that she cant use them to get down. We also have a toy Manchester and she uses them to get on but to get down, the steps are too narrow or too fast a rise and she has to leap off. For the price, it isnt a bad product, but that isnt exactly an endorsement. Plus, the peg on one side broke (hard plastic). I just used an old cork from a wine bottle shaved down a little and it is holding. Great for my older kitties! I was skeptical when purchasing these stairs because my cats are 14 and 13 years old and they weigh 17 and 22 lbs respectively so I wasnt sure that they would feel comfortable enough using the stairs. But when I took them out of the box and unfolded them I was very happy to find that they are VERY sturdy and Im happy to say both my cats use the stairs to go up onto my bed. And after a few days and a little bit of coaxing they started going down the stairs instead of jumping off the bed. This was a great purchase and my only regret is not having bought them sooner! Purrfect for older Cats I bought this for my cat whos going on 13 years old. I put it up against my bed so it would be easier for her since she has arthritis. Super easy to put together, arrived in just a couple of days. She figured out the concept in 1 day so that was another bonus. Im planning on ordering another one for the living room couch. I had comparison shopped on line and Amazon had the best price and free shipping. I totally recommend this for cats or dogs! great perfect height for my little chi and tall bed, sturdy enough for my large dog but she is weary of it. little steps These stairs are well made and easy to set up. It is designed for a small animal, the steps are very close together. I have a Yorkie. Good buy for the money, came within a few days of ordering. Pet Stairs The Solvit PupSTEP Plus Pet Stair is just the right size for my older dog to get up on the couch. The PupSTEP is plastic so it is good for small dogs only. Also, it folds up easily to store. doggie steps this product is good for small dogs only! no more than 12 pounds. it is wobbly and not secure. i dont recommend it. invest in good quality steps that are fully carpeted. dog will feel more secure on them. It was as advertised My only problem with it is that I can not get either of my two dogs to use it. They both seem afraid of it. I do not feel that this is due to any problem with the product. Great for small petite dogs I have two dogs, a 20 pound Chinese Crested and a 4 pound Chihuahua. Our bed is extremely high. The Crested has no problems jumping up, but my Chi has no chance. I debated on what kinds of steps to get - I was torn between these and the more expensive carpeted stationary ones. I am pleased I went the cheaper route because these steps serve their purpose well. Easily to assemble, you just need to place the self-adhesive non-skid pads on each step and place the rubber feet on the bottom of the unit. Easily folds down flat for storage. Of course I had to assist my Chi on going up and down the steps for a few days but now she leaps up and down them with no hesitation. The steps are not very wide and that is why I would not recommend these for any other breed than the toy breed. I would think they would work great for cats as well. Great Product We recently "rescued" 2 six-week old kittens from our local shelter. They were so tiny that there was no way for them to jump up to chairs, beds, etc (or jump down for that matter) without hurting themselves. We ordered these steps and immediately they were able to climb the steps and reach the top of our mattress (23 inches from the floor). They are now 16 weeks old and they love playing, climbing on these stairs. They are sturdy and cant be knocked over -- and easily clapable for storage. You cant beat them. Solvit CatSTEP This is our second step. We have one in the bedroom and one at the cat scratching post. Really nice and sturdy step assemblies and stow away easily. We are going to use one in the motor home when we travel. Great for Travelers Stumbled at first putting it together and the carpet pieces are flimsy and didnt want to stick in place. Bit of tacky glue solved that. Less chance of dogs being injured when trying to jump from heights. Steps fold up making it easy to take with us especially when using the truck. we're please with these steps I bought one set of steps specifically for my 1yr 8 month old yorkie to have access to my bed without begging to be picked up each time. It was discouraging at first when I couldnt get her the use the steps. She was timid and wouldnt use them for the first couple of weeks but after much coaxing and not picking her up anymore, she started to use the steps to come up on her own. It was such a relief to see her do it for the first time on her own. Now she climbs up and down them every chance she gets. Im please with the steps and would recommend them to others. Solvit PupStep Plus Pet Stairs It was easy to assemble, it is operating very good and our dog adopted it.Great purchase! Perfect For Us - May Not Be for Short Legged Dogs We bought this for our older cat and it is perfect. It is exactly how it appears in the picture and is sturdy yet lightweight and easy to fold. It even came with stick on anti-slip pads for each step. Compared to stairs that are twice the price this is a real value. After looking at the other reviews, I can see why these steps may not be ideal for dogs with really short legs as the steps are fairly small. But definitely for cats, and for smaller dogs with longer legs or that are still fairly nimble, these stairs are perfect. lightweight and durable These steps are very nice. My dog has been using them everyday. She still needs coaxing to come down the steps instead of jumping off of the bed. The only thing I would change is that I would like it if carpet lined the steps to give it traction instead of "astroturf". Otherwise, I think that these steps are a good value for the money. Good for Kitties as Well! I purchased these pet stairs for one of my cats that I noticed was limping after jumping off the bed. At first she would walk around the stairs to get on the bed. I had to entice her with some kitty treats to use the stairs. Now she uses them daily to get on and off the bed. They are light weight and portable. Would recommend for cats and small dogs. Pet Stairs One of the pads was defective and all of the pads curled up after 2 days. I am going to return this item! A big help!!! My 9 yr old dog, Duke, can now get up on the bed without me having to pick him up. It only took a couple of dog goodies to teach him how to use the stairs. He & I both love the stairs;they have made both our lives easier and pain free. Pet Steps We have a small dog, the steps work great in ensuring that there is a safe way for our dog to get up and down from higher living areas. It took our dog about 2 seconds to get the hang of using the steps rather then jumping up or down. The steps are sturdy , but I would only recommend for dogs under 30 pounds. solvit pupstep plus pet stairs The stairs are great for my smaller dog, but my heavier dog (french bulldog)has a more difficult time getting up and down them. The stairs are pretty steep and there isnt a lot of foot space, so he has to take baby steps to get down (funny to watch). They seem to be sturdy and I would definitely only use on a rug or carpet for added stability because the collapsible part slides a little. Overall, I love it because I can collapse it easily and hide it when I want to. Its worth the purchase. Pup Steps The steps are nice and were easy to assemble since all you have to do is peel the back off the fabric pieces and attach them. The steps are large so make sure you have enough room. My dog refuses to use the stairs. She is really picky and Im sure with practice she will come around. Overall I think they are of great quality and worth the money. No more PAIN Solvit PupSTEP Plus Pet StairsWe have a four year old Maltese who was having really bad shoulder PAIN from jumping off the couch and bed. He would wake up and start to move and cry because of the pain. Since he started using these pet stairs his pain is gone! It took him about a month to get use to using but now he uses them all the time. They are well made, light, and fold up if you need to put them up to clean or just out of the way for company. I highly recommend these for anyone who has small pets that jump up and down off furniture. I look forward to many more years with my dog and am glad that I made this purchase for his health. I think it will help him not have shoulder pain or even have to have surgery when he is older, which is common with small dogs who jump off furniture. Freedom for all! These steps have been a back saver for me and fun for the dogs. We have Australian terriers who are too short to get up on the big king sized bed. Our older dog, Uncle Toby, should not be jumping off the bed either, but thats another story. We chose these steps because they fold up to scoot under the bed for convenience, and also, they are taller than the others. I wanted something that would bring the dogs up high enough that they wouldnt have such a big jump at the end. It took a very short time to get our female, Taylor, to use them because shes not afraid of anything and is very agile. Once she had the routine down (about three tries) Toby got into the spirit of the game and decided he could do it, too. Now I just tell them "Up!" and dont have to constantly lift them, which saves my bad back. Mr. T (Big Daddy) prefers the couch, but has had no problems with the steps the couple of times he went up them. There are replacement pads available if the steps get worn, but so far they give the dogs plenty of traction. Our dogs weigh 20 pounds and under, so I dont know how well they would work for bigger breeds, but for us they are just perfect and well worth the price. Go Aussies! Solvit PupSTEP Plus Pet Stairs ( These stairs are exactly what I was looking for at the price point I was looking to spend. My 11lb. Chihuahua took about 1 day to get used to them. Now he flys into my bedroom and runs up the stairs to greet me on the bed, so proud of himself. He is no longer dependent on me having to pick him up every time he decides to leap off the bed. He is independent and he loves it. Since he is paper trained, he just comes and goes as needed with out disturbing me to pick him up anymore. Highly recommend. :) Making Dog life easy The Solvit dog stairs are indeed a good purchase. My dog is now 9 and she was having a rough time getting onto my bed at night and missed twice. I was afraid of a broken hip or leg since it sits up 30" off the floor. With some coaxing with treats she now willing climbs into her spot on the bed each night ready for slumber. She goes about 40 lbs and her weight seemed no problem, but my kitten is who also likes the convience. Solvit PupSTEP Plus Pet Stairs Theyre great! Solid too! One of the stair runners was a bit ragged on one side. Called the company and they sent 3 more. No problems. Dog has no problem coming up the stairs. Id recommend these stairs to anyone. Dont cost a lot either. Great item for little dogs and older dogs These pet stairs were an excellent investment. We use them in our rv. Our little yorkies can get on the bed now without waking us in the middle of the night. Our older cocker, who can no longer jump on the bed, can easily navigate the stairs to get into bed. The stairs are lightweight and easily removed to an out-of-the-way location during the day. Excellent, very light but sturdy I have 2 dogs that weigh 15 to 20 lbs and these are great. The 10 year old is still learning to go up them. They are very light and can be moved when cleaning. pet steps My cats are getting arthritis and have difficulty jumping onto their favorite nesting area, my bed. I bought the steps several months ago and the cats have easily adjusted to it and use it daily. No accidents. It is sturdy and yet light-weight. I have 2 This is my second set of steps. I have one in my bedroom and one in the living room next to my recliner. They are great. One of my little ones turned out to be a jumper so she doesnt have to use them anymore, but the other uses them all the time. They are very sturdy, my son uses them as a leg rest sometimes. Great product. Does not work on ceramic tile floors We are already at a disadvantage when it comes to shipping, since we do not live in the contiguous/continental US. Many vendors do not wish to ship direct. We had to make arrangement to ship to my girlfriend in California and then reship to our home. Unfortunately my dogs will have nothing to do with this product. The stairs are not very stable on ceramic tile floors. Even placing a small area rug under the stairs does not fix the problem as far as the dogs are concerned. The steps now sit in the garage awaiting disposal. They may work on carpet. Perfect for my dog My dog loves the steps. Theyre super steardy, and collapse easily to store under my bed. Good stairs for a good price I bought two of these and theyre wonderful. Especially on carpet. However, if you have a hardwood or concrete floor (probably tile or linoleum too), you may want to buy some of the rubber liner like you would put in a drawer or on a pantry shelf. We put some of it down on the concrete to stop one of the steps from sliding and moving and it worked like a dream. BEST PRODUCT This is such a great product. I have a 9 month old maltese and he sleeps in the bed with me. I originally wanted a set of stairs so that he can get off and on the bed without me picking him up. This product solved the problem. My dog has had no problem getting off and on the bed. I also like the fact that you can store it under the bed when you dont need it. Definitely a great investment! Great Product Product arrived quickly and was exactly what was ordered. I love the new steps, great price for the product! Good Start your puppy on it as soon as you bring him home, it will be easier in the long run. Life saver for my dog I bought this for a foster beagle of mine who could not jump up on the couch, but really wanted to be with me. I worried these steps would be too flimsy for her (she is 28 pounds), but they work like a dream. Now all the other dogs want to use them as well. This was great - inexpensive, easy to set up and will be easy to store. Great pet steps I bought these because they are taller than other brands, and a good price. For my little poodle, they work best placed sideways along the side of the bed. Trained her by lifting her up each step, one at a time, till at the top she would get brave and jump onto the bed. Over time I had to lift her less steps, till finally she felt secure enough to climb up from the bottom step. I recommend these highly! Good for very small dogs The steps are very small, so I would recommend only for dogs under eight pounds. Great product! At first my little dog wanted nothing to do with these steps. After a few days, however, right up the steps he would go. Very easy, just unfold, and apply the adhesive pads to each step. Nice product. Puppy Stairs I was concerned that my little min pin would be scared to use the stairs. At first she was hesitant, but when I installed the non slip grip pads it was a lot better. She uses them all the time to get on and off the bed. PupStep+ The stairs are sturdy and work very well for both my dachshund and the cats. All I had to do was attach the step covers and the antiskid rubber to the steps and it was ready to go. I also have the foam steps and the PupStep+ is not only sturdier but also handles greater weight. I would recommend these steps. Very sturdy considering it's foldable & very light I bought this for my two Poodle/Shiu Tzu 20-25 lb. pets to climb onto the very tall family members bed. Naturally, I had to put their paws on it step by step a few times to get used to it. One was only slightly afraid of it at first, still after a week only goes up it very slow after now only verbal prodding & soon he will not need the prodding (he has to get used to not being lazy & being picked up.) He uses it to go down as well as he has shorter legs & the jump down must bother him enough to use it. The one who was terrified at first, she now races up it like its nothing, but has longer, springy legs & does not need it to jump off. It does move easily when pushed by a human as it is only lightweight plastic, but they seem to have no problems & the leverage is great & center of gravity is nice & low to keep it stable. For the price & convenience of something foldable & lightweight, its great. Great item I have had these steps now for almost a year. I bought them thru Amazon and actually paid a little more for them then than they are now so that makes them an even better deal now. They are sturdy, well built, easy to clean and a snap to fold and store. Some people said that they found them to be wobbly or that their pet slipped off the side - That might be true if you can only use them in the direction they are shown in the picture however I turned them sideways so that one side of the bed was on the long side of the steps and my 8 lb dog and 13 lb older cat have no problem using them. Unless they have changed them since I bought mine, I was very impressed with how stable they are. so far, so good no, these are not the sturdiest stairs out there. but for the price and the weight of the product, they are not bad. we bought ours from seller "Litterboy Pet Products" and they arrived quickly and in good shape. our corgi who weighs about 25 lbs has no problems going up them, shes still a little unsure about going down them, but i think shell learn. great for cats! My older persian mix has been experiencing some arthritis lately. She had been having trouble getting up on the bed, as her legs are a little shaky. I knew I needed to get steps for her and these are perfect! First of all, these are the best priced for the size. I saw other 4 step ones for much more money. They were very easy to set up-took about 10 mins. They are perfectly sturdy for a 13 lb cat---I dont know if Id feel secure if I had a larger animal. I have it next to an ottoman (my cats bed) and that adds to the stability. I read a reviewer somewhere who thought theyd be great for a toddler....I would NEVER do that! NEVER! I have mine set up on a rug-so there is no chance for slippage...the non-skid pads are small-if I didnt have a rug I would put it on a yoga "sticky" mat to keep it stable. My cat didnt want to go down it at first (no problem running up it!) but I put her favorite treats on it when she was up on the bed...and down she went! Now she has no problem with it. The treads are perfect-seems like they will take a little traffic and do the job fine. The other cats just ignore it....My cat and I are very pleased with this purchase. Don't hesitate to purchase! This is the second stairs weve purchased - we have two bedrooms and the stairs allow our two Yorkies, and my sisters teeny-tiny baby Yorkie to zip right up to bed! Plus! We discovered a second use! During the day we lay the stairs end to end, and block the teeny-tiny from the rest of the house until hes housebroken! Hey, it works! Sturdy, well built & fast shipping - best Ive found for the price! Best thing you can do for an elder dog The creator of this needs a huge thanks! this was the best thing for my elder dog, now she no longer has to lay in the floor late at night because were asleep to lift her, she uses her steps and everything is a breeze now. i bought one for every bed!! they are also really sturdy for plastic. i had my doubts about it but it can support my grown child 17 years old 140 pounds with no problem. fast shipping great buy! very pleased These steps were exactly what I wanted. They are light weight and collapsable to make storage easy. Sturdy enough to support the dog. I highly reccomend. Not effective for a larger cat Im giving this product two stars because it arrived on time, and in good condition. I think it would have worked well for a smaller cat, or a very small dog, like the one pictured in the product photo, but the description does promise to support more weight than that. Unfortunately, weight is not the only issue to consider: My cat is large at 20 lbs--not really fat, just a big breed--and the steps were very out of proportion to his natural stride. I tried coaxing him up and down a few times, but it was clear that his legs and paws were too big for the scale of these steps. In addition to the size of the steps, the plastic construction meant that the whole thing moved a little when my cat put his weight on it. Cats really dont like feeling unsteady ground beneath them, and this movement scared him. I ended up buying a much more expensive carpeted, wood-construction ramp for the foot of our bed, and he has had no trouble using that. Dinged one star for price-perfect for cats I agree w/ other reviewers that this is overpriced for what it is, that said, it is also the best value I could find. I had bought the ersatz sheepskin covered frame steps from PetSmart, but they were too flimsy and not tall enough. These stairs are an easy to clean molded sturdy thickness, lightweight plastic. The steps grips are okay, they do the job, I just dont know how well they will hold up over time. The important thong is my 19 yo cat can now get on and off my poster bed w/o assistance. At first he was somewhat leery, but now hes quite accustomed. Its also nice that they can be easily folded for storage, The neutral color, just as pictured, should be okay in any setting. I am very pleased. Pet Stairs a pleasure I have a crippled, half-blind, old calico Persian Kitty. A little cat nip on the steps to get her interested and she now hobbles up and down off the bed like a pro. It is just what we needed. "PupSTEP" I purchased "two" Solvit PupSTEPs. Both arrived very quickly. However, both boxes were damaged. Though seemingly intact. One was assembled immediatly put to use. Our 108 year old (dog years)dog loves it. The second was assembled two weeks later for our vacation home. This unit was found to be missing the packet of padding for the steps and non-skid feet for the unit. Because we were anxious to put it to use, we cut and fitted "peel-and-stick" floor carpet squares to the unit. It works, but the factory pads fit and look much better. I like the units and only wish that a "five" step unit (higher!!) was available. Product is okay The stairs are a little shaky which causes my dog to avoid them and try to jump up and down instead. Not a great product but the delivery, etc. was good. Dog Steps I was hoping my dog would feel comfortable using these steps to get into my tall bed (she has bad knees). However, the steps just werent high enough to reach the top of the bed. She refused to use the steps. The steps are sturdy, lightweight and well made. My 2 1/2 year old grandson used them to climb on my bed and then jump off! Then, he carried them into my closet and bathroom to find out first hand what was "up there!" I was going to return them, but now Im thinking I will keep them around for him! Great Value This item arrived in perfect condition. It is exactly what I wanted for our Papillon puppy to reach our bed. It is just right for light weight toy breeds. From other reviews it seems that its not good for dogs over about 8 or 9 pounds. We love the way it folds for storage and fits under the bed. Best of all it is affordable. We couldnt be happier with it. I liked the looks of it, but the dogs did not like it. I purchased this product so my weiner dogs could get on the bed easier. However, even with coaxing with treats, neither dog wanted anything to do with these steps. The colored pads that come with it have a slippery feel to them and I think that may have been part of the problem. But in all honesty I dont know if the product was the problem or just my dogs. Bought for my mini dachshund Solvit PupSTEP + Plus Pet Stairs I had purchased this item for my mini dachshund hoping to help her on and off the bed and couch. Unfortunately it just wasnt as stable as it should have been and the width on the steps was just a bit too narrow, even for her small body. I just was not comfortable with these steps and my little dog would not have anything to do with them. So unfortunately had to return them and will try to find some sturdier steps. Buy and Return and Return Again I was and am still very upset with the careless way this product was sent to me and also the fact that after ordering and returning and receiving a second shipment of this product.... both times the pads that go on the steps were missing from the package. Both packages were torn or ripped in places and the second package hadnt even been sealed. Doesnt anyone check these before they are shipped? I am asking for a refund on this item. I actually had to travel an hour to find a store that had pet steps. Needless to say with the price of gasoline these days it was an added expense. My pet had injured himself recently by jumping from a high area and is recovering. I needed these steps and certainly wasnt pleased with the delay in getting them. Just totally frustrated and upset. Good but no perfect For what they are, the steps are excellent. They are a simple strong well built set of steps that are afforadble. The problem with an older and larger dog is that they become wobly from side to side. Since there are no sides to the steps. the dog sometime mis-steps and misses, so she has fallen off the steps. Off course, with sides, you are probably talking more complicated contruction and greater cost. great for old dog Works great for my old dog. These steps replaced the typical fleece-covered three step version you see alot. These steps are tall enough for my dog to get onto my very tall bed. The dog uses them not only to get up and but also to get down which keeps her from hurting herself by jumping down. Also great customer service from Solvit - the stair treads were missing, one quick phone call, and they mailed more to me within a week. Great for Cats - excellent value I purchased this mainly for my 14 year old, 10 lb. arthritic cat so she could access our new higher bed. I used treats on each step for the first excursion and there was no problem after that. The pet step height is 1 - 2 inches less than other stairways in our house. She easily traverses the pet stairs and our two younger cats love to race up and down them. The steps are more than sturdy enough for the cats and stays securely in place on the carpet. Self adhesive anti-slip foot pads are included with the steps for use on smooth floors. I very thoroughly researched all the pet steps available and this was the best value I could find, especially with Amazons free Super Saver Shipping. Now if I could just find a product that worked as well removing cat hair from the bed! Dog Steps I purchased these steps for my Cavalier King Charles to get on the bed. It only took a couple of trys with treats to get her to go up and down them and now she runs up and down the steps. They are also very easy to store as they fold up. I would recommend these steps to anyone with a small pet. Perfect for my cat! Im really happy with these stairs! My cat is 21 and has arthritis. Shes just recently started having trouble getting up on my bed. At first I was worried about her even using them, but with a little bit of a tuna bribe she went up the stairs just fine. (A little side-note: she doesnt seem to be all that crazy about going down them, but time will tell.) I was concerned about what kind of quality Id be getting from the steps b/c theyre pretty much the cheapest pair of its height. After having used them I have to say they are GREAT. The stairs are sturdy and as I mention before my cat has been using them. Definitely worth the money. I dont see any advantage in spending a ton on stairs when you can get these for $35! Good value for the money This isnt the sturdiest set Ive ever seen, but for the money, nobody should it expect it to be. I helped my 17 year old arthritic cat climb it the first time by moving his paws and hoisting him up the stairs, and after one time, he got the hang of it. I think he still jumps off the bed instead of going down the stairs, but at least its much easier for him to jump up now. I like the tread on the stairs - all my cats are declawed, but they still enjoy the raspy feel of it on their paws. I recommend it. Sturdy Stairs I thought this stairs were really good. For the price they were excellent. Although 2 of my 3 dogs will not use them. The one that does use them mainly only wants to go down and not up. I think if we keep working on the training then he will possibly use them more. He happens to be the smartest one of my three so theres hope. But I must say it does take the dogs time to get used to if at all. Im hoping for the best but as far as stairs go these are pretty good quality. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!!! It is NOT sturdy at all. If your dog is 5 pounds or less it might be ok, but my dog is 12 pounds and she wont even go up it because it moves when she tries to. Post Surgery We bought these steps to help our Malti-Poo get on the bed after having knee surgery on both knees. It took some coaxing (treats)to get him to go up, but he healed and is still using the steps. Now, he loves to run up them and jump on our other dog. We bought a second set so he could get into his favorite lounger, too. These are solid and the stair treads make him feel secure. I dont regret my purchase, and would gladly buy them again, if needed. Fit for a weiner. I purchased this because our Rat Terrier likes to get up on the bed. Still fairly young, he has no problem jumping up two feet of matress and bed frame but Ive noticed he limps occasionally when jumping down. Unfortunately the steps are small with a very steep incline so the little dog ends up carefully stepping down until he reaches a tipping point. Once gravity wins, he has to try running but the small but deep steps make a smooth return to floor level into a clumsy descent that crosses the borderline between comedy and potential injury. Built out of the same material as most garbage cans, the too small and too thin pads are completely useless. The tiny rubber no-slip rubber feet work well enough until they fall off under the unimaginable stress brought by a 12 pound dog tumbling down the steps. After a brief inspection of the feet I also noticed that every time you extend the legs, the plastic is being bent severly by two round plastic bits that seem to function as a lock of some sort. Other than that, fine product. Kinda flimsy The steps are pretty narrow and my 15 lb dog had trouble stepping down. Her paws would slip on the plastic so I had to put a towel on it to give her grip. Great help for our small dog Our old chihuahua loves to cuddle but is too small to jump onto the couch/bed. The Solvit PupStep offered a cheap and practical solution. The stairs are sturdy despite being plastic, they can be folded up, and the dog had no trouble learning how to use them. A great product! Save your litttle guy We have a very tall bed and our three little guys can only get up on the bed with steps. My dogs just dont like them at all. puppy steps The order was recieved on time and in good condition. My dogs just dont like them at all. Excellent, these Steps are Stable, not bendable These are great, theyre real stable instead of the soft foam steps, although those are nice also. My dog loves these steps, thanks! :o) |
