...Because Id hate to buy a whole new door all over again just for the flaps. I have oversized dog doors (size XXL) for a large dog that has difficulty walking through lower or narrower doors. Each of the original Ideal Pet patio doors (I have 2) cost over $120 because of the size, so it was a blessing to find that I could simply replace the worn out, torn, sun damaged, dirty flaps.
You need to make sure that you are buying the correct size, so measure it out first and also make sure that you have the right door. There is an issue of the logo on the flap and if you have a certain one, the replacement flaps may not fit exactly right. Fortunately, it fit my doors. The old flaps had a rectangular logo accross the middle of them and these new flaps apparently replace those older ones.
It took me about 10 minutes for each door. Very easy to remove the old flap and put the new one on. They provide an extra piece (a brace/bracket) in case you break the old one (which I did!) while removing the old flap. All in all, great product...Im so glad these are around! Made the dog doors look like new.
