![]() Bottoms Up Rear-End Support Leash - Red Average Rating: 3.0 Total Reviews: 3 More Information Great product for an older dog (and his owner) The details: This is a nylon webbing lease similar to the ones you buy at any pet store, except it also has two loops at the end of it. There are soft neoprene sleeves that you put on the loops (the first time) and then you slid your dogs two rear legs in those loops. The soft neoprene sleeves are the ones that come in contact with the pelvic area of the dog and are soft and comfortable. The two loops are connected to a normal lease, which you hold. These loops lift the dog by supporting the weight and you pull up depending on how much weight you want to take off the dogs rear legs. I have a very old German Shepherd with bad hip dysplasia and has lost control of both his hind legs. I pull up the lease almost to the point that he has no weight on his rear legs. He still moves his rear legs, but there is no weight on these. Suggestion to make it better: The only think I wish it would have to make it better is if there was someway to have part of the lease stay on his hind quarters (the two loops) and maybe click on a second peice when we want to assist him in getting up. Like keeping the collar on and just clicking the lease when we need it. This would save us putting the whole thing on and off every time. It has been a little difficult to put it on every time he wants to go out, but that may be because he does not like me holding and lifting his legs to put the lease on. Conclusion This rear end support lease has been a great help to my dog for him to be mobile. It also helps me save my back as I am not bending over trying to carry his hind legs when he drags himself out. Overall it is a great product and we are very happy with it. Bottoms Up Leash Our dog did not take to it but i like the concept. Bottoms Up Leash Our dog did not take to it but i like the concept. I wish it would work, but it doesn't. My beagle had an injury to her knees and needs help going up the stairs. I searched extensively for something to help her so I wouldnt have to continue carrying her up the stairs and this was all I could find. It seemed like a good idea, but in practice it doesnt work. The leg holes are difficult to adjust, and impossible to adjust once it is on the dog. If the leg holes are big enough to get the leash on the dog, they will fall off the second you dont keep the leash absolutely taut. Then the dog simply steps out and you must start over. The handle part of the leash (between the leg holes and the end you hold onto) is very short. If your dog is not very large (my dog is tall for a beagle, shes definitely a medium sized dog, not a small one)and if you are not extremely short (Im 57)the leash is too short. In order for me to hang onto the handle, I had to either bend over or hold the rear end of my dog at least six inches off the ground at all times. Between the two problems, the item is impossible to use. It might work for large dogs such as Labrador Retrievers or Golden Retrievers. I dont think it would fit extra large dogs, such as St. Bernards. I wish the information here and/or at the manufacturers site would have mentioned that the dog needs to be of a certain size or it wont work. I also wish they would develop a similar item (at least in concept - not in execution) for other sized dogs. I wish it would work, but it doesn't.
