I had a Petmate Deluxe and when the pump motor burned out (due to clogging) I decided to try this one since it would also provide some aeration to the water. It has the same basic design flaw as the Petmate - ALL filtration is downstream of the pump and the small intake screen on the pump clogs easily and quickly with cat hair and it is a real hassle to remove and clean the pump. It seems like a product designed by an engineer who either has never had a pet or one who has OCD and cleans the unit daily like Nicholas Cages character in Matchstick Men. I bought two and one had a slow leak. Called the manufacturer and they were very responsive in diagnosing the problem down to a small o-ring and sending a replacement o-ring. Fifty ounces of water leaking out overnight, I had to deal with myself.....at least it is a LOT easier to refill than the Petmate. Pretty pink pet drinking fountain Drinkwell Pet Fountain + 50 Oz Reservoir "Pink Limited Edition"Attractive, functional and our cats love it. The pump is a little noisy, but only noticeable when no others sounds in room. My cats love it My 2 cats stopped drinking water out of the bowl that we had out for them, and they would only want to drink from the faucet. So every time we would go to the bathroom or kitchen sink they would jump up and cry for water, but since we got this fountain it is no longer an issue. They drink straight from the waterfall. Its really quiet and easy to clean. GrannyV My cat & dog love it. My cat would only drink from the running faucet in the bathroom sink, but he now drinks out of the Drinkwell Pet Fountain. He is now drinking more water, which is a good thing. pet fountain It works great. one of my best finds. took cats a little bit to get use to it, but dog drank from it istantly. Very Helpful Ive had a couple of the Drinkwell fountains (one at home; one at vacation cabin) for several years now; I bought this one to replace one that I *thought* had stopped working (but it hadnt - Id failed to replace a part). I bought the pink one because I have a "princess" cat; the reservoir (which I didnt have) is a really nice addition. Even with three cats drinking from the fountain, I seldom have to add water. When I get around to it, Ill probably buy the reservoir for the other fountain. I can recommend this to all cats humans - good for the cats, easy for the human! Pink Drinkwell fountain My cat has loved using this product. I had the original color model but when the pink one came out I purchased that as well.It does need to be taken apart and cleaned at least every 2 weeks because of the buildup but that only takes a few minutes and is worth it. I initially took a chance purchasing years ago but found she loved drinking from it. the cats love it... of course one of them thinks its a splashing pool but the plastic placemat that was included catches (most of) the water he splashes out. The other cat likes to drink from the freeflowing water stream which makes this fountain better than the PetMate brand because on that one the fresh water flows down a slope (no freeflowing water stream for cats to catch with their tongues). They much prefer the Drinkwell fountain. My only complaint is that the intake valve gets clogged with cat hair but it seems to only be our long-haired girls hair so with short-haired cats it probably wont be a problem. If you forget to pull away the cat hair the fountain reminds you cause it starts making a sucking sound. Otherwise its fairly quiet. Oh, and the Pink Limited Edition is VERY pink. Its nice though. . . just a bit brighter than it looks in the picture. Sometimes the cats like to put their toys in it. A friend who has this fountain sometimes finds one of his socks in it even though hed left them nowhere near the fountain (but we think his cat is descended from racoons because she used to put things in the water bowl even before he had the fountain so I dont think its because of the fountain). I highly recommend this fountain and, as I said, the cats love it!! Drinkwell Pet Fountain This is a great product. Anyone who is blessed with cats know that they are not the biggest drinkers. Cats can go days without coming near the water bowl. Not so with this product. The sound attracts them, they walk over sniff it and they begin drinking. My cats have more than tripled there intake of water and because two of them have kidney disease the additional water drinking could very likely increase their life span. I have three of these fountains and I just love them. I place them in different rooms so they have access to fresh water wherever they are. Great product. I recommend it highly. Too noisy This is a great product...initially...but its so noisy that my cats will not go near it...too bad. Cats dont really like machine sounds, for the most part. The inventors might like to try and work that out?? I love it Technically, I bought this for my cat, but really it was for me because I despise refilling her water once a day. The Reservoir is large enough to last a week! I love the option to regulate the water flow, as I turn it down when the splashing distracts me. My cat loves the fresh flowing water. It is a little bit noisey, but other than that its great and I think they are drinking more water because of it. |
