A lot of people think it is silly to get a pet dryer. Why get one when you can just use the hair dryer you have already?

I got this for two reasons: my long haired dog is afraid of the hair dryer noise, making grooming less fun for us both. But more importantly a normal hair dryer gets too hot, so I have to be very careful when grooming. Im worried of making a mistake and keeping it too close, keeping it too still on a spot, etc. He has told me "hey, thats hot!" before so I know I must be more careful. So I cant use it on a high setting, would be nice because it would go a lot faster. On the low setting it takes FOREVER.

So I started looking for a pet dryer...generally, they provide strong wind power with much less heat. They literally push the water off the hair. Often there is no heat at all. At least, thats how I thought pet dryers were supposed to be.

I wasted my money on this. Its just like the hair dryer I use on myself. It gets super hot when you use it on high. The low setting, naturally, lacks any strength. It would take me two hours to do the job on a thick, wet, double coat on low.

Its also just as loud as my current hair dryer. Mine actually works, but its completely pointless. I may just have to shell out the big bucks and get a high quality dryer, like the my groomer uses.

I purchased the Andis Pet Dryer at PetSmart and I would not purchase another one. Whenever I use it, it works fine for about 5 minutes and then stops. I have to let it cool down and then it works for another 5 minutes and stops. Very frustrating! I cleaned the filter thinking that was the problem, no luck.
Worthless     On: 2007-01-05

We bought this dryer at a Petsmart I believe, and after TWO uses the dryer and stand are broken. While drying our dog the first time the switch on the dryer stopped working, luckily in the on position, but this only allowed us to use high. I had to unplug it to turn it off. Today using another similar size/weight dryer with the Andis stand, the stand no longer would hold its position. Seriously. Two uses? I would strongly advise another product line

Quite pleased with this pet dryer. The stand is very sturdy. I like the three heat settings and cool shot. Thought it was a little bit louder than advertised. Only a bit quieter than a regular human dryer.

Poorly designed stand + bad customer service = NoGo     On: 2006-01-13

I purchased this product at a dog show in October. After only a few uses, the stand no longer would hold the dryer in position. When we opened it up to see what the problem was, we discovered that the "nobs" to hold the stand in different positions were only slightly raised, plastic nubbins that evidently wear down quickly. I called Andis about this and their customer service department was not helpful at all. So now I have to hold the dryer by hand, or use duct tape to hold the stand in one position only. I thought the dryer was nice (pretty quiet), but given the shoddiness of the construction of the stand and the snittiness of the customer service representative I spoke with, I probably wont be buying any more of their products.
