love the item...but the collar falls off     On: 2008-08-31

this is the first thing ive found in 7 years that actually works for barking...only problem is the collar is so poorly made that it continually falls off. really wish that for this price they could have made a better collar since this really is a great product.
Perfect training companion     On: 2008-08-20

This has been the ideal training companion for my rescue dog. We use the beep as a warning, combined with a command from me, NOT as a "good dog" beep. For my dog, that does the trick, no spray even necessary. He shows aggression toward some people, and this, used as a backup, means confidence on our off leash walks, (I am using it in conjunction with a lot of consistent training). I hardly ever have to use it, but its there if I do.

No mechanical issues; my dog even went in the water when I didnt expect him to, and it dried out and afterward, and worked fine again. I do find it a bit ugly, and it gets some dirty looks from those who think its a shock collar.
so far, great!     On: 2008-05-14

I adopted from a shelter a little critter which to the best of my knowledge is a Basenji-Jack Russell mix (a Basenjack?). Kinda hyper, kinda twitchy, but very cute & loving. After two years I decided to try to do something about her barking. Dont get me wrong; I want her to bark if someones noodling around on my property. But I dont want her to bark for two hours at the guy plowing his field 400 yards away or the neighbors trying to sit peacefully on their deck. Thats why I decided to try the remote control Spray Commander. I get to choose when to administer correction and theres no shocking involved. I think youre supposed to use the #1 beep button as a "good dog" tone, but I decided to use it as a first warning. Once (what was that?), twice (there it is again), three times (where is that coming from?) and then the small squirt (WHOA...something aint right here). Got immediate results the very first time. She came right back to the house. After five days, Ive only squirted her three times. When she hears the beep, she comes runnin. Better than that, today there were kids walking across the field behind my house. This would normally be a ten minute scream-fest. She went out on the deck (we have doggy doors and a fenced backyard), "burfed" a couple of times, whined a couple of times (if I go out there and bark, Im gonna get suirted), and came back in the house. So, if the equipment holds up, Im sold 100%. Might not work for everyone, but Im very happy so far. Also, I thought the spray was Citronella based and was pleasantly surprised when it came oderless. I think the sound and the puff of spray under the chin is plenty enough deterrent. At least for Dixie.
It works!!     On: 2007-11-04

I have had dogs my whole life but never one as active as the one I have now. This collar has helped with chewing, barking, digging and jumping on people. I thought it might make his fur oily but there is no residue. Even when the collar runs out of the citronella spray, it still sprays air which also deters our dog for a short time (until he catches on). He is now responding much better to our commands without even using the spray!
Best Training Device Ever!!     On: 2007-10-07

The Spray Commander is the best device I have ever used as a training method for my 100+ lb akita puppy. This product is extremely effective in controlling excessive barking and destructive behaviors. I initially used the shock collar but found out that it is ineffective for dogs that do not respond well to harsh training methods or have high tolerance for pain. The shock collar only irritated my puppy but never corrected the problem! With the Spray Commander, I was able to train my dog to come when called, to keep out of expensive rose bushes & trash cans, and to stop other unwanted behaviors. However, keep in mind that dogs are much more clever than you think. The trick is that you should never let your dog see you refilling the device or using the remote. Otherwise, they will associte you with the device! The spray is not at all potent or harmful to the dog, which puts me at ease when using this product on my puppy.
Wow! effective, reliable and humane     On: 2006-06-26

This collar is amazing. We occasionally foster/rehab dogs who have behavior "issues". The Premier version of this product is one of our "secrete weapons". Its truly a god send and Veeeerrry durable. In the past 18 months we have used one collar to extinguish unwanted behaviors in two 70+ lb rough and tumble out of control adult dogs, a yappy collie-? mix puppy, my home schooled standard poodle service dog (76 lb) and the neighbors terrier. It has been chewed, stepped and drooled on, caked in mud, butted by a goat, kicked about and forgotten on the floor of the car in both scorching heat and freezing cold. With a little maintenance... fresh batteries... clearing the mud from the nozzles and microphone... It still works fine.

Unlike electric collars, willful and mellow dogs alike just get distracted and shut up instead of getting ticked and barking more. We showed it to the local animal control police (they dropped by to scan a stray for an id chip). They are delighted with its performance and are telling folks they serve barking dog complaint situations about it. I strongly encourage you to buy this effective, reliable and humane product if you need your dog to be quite or to redirect other unwanted behavior.

Don't! Don't! Don't!...     On: 2006-06-20

This was a product made by Premier which does the great "Gentle Leader." It is now Multivet--a Quebec company.

I paid $158 at a local pet store. Was very helpful...until it broke 5 days later. Exchanged at store, but they said further problems take it up with the company. Two weeks later the second one died.

Multivet has not responded to my email. I mailed in the warranty and it was returned as no such address. Tried registering online, webpage "submit" button does not work. Went to troubleshooting page and learned they havent put it up yet.

Warranty is only for 30 days. Product is not waterproof. On/Off switch is cheesy plastic and I suspect much of the problem.

I am now looking at electronic trainer collars that are waterproof, have a better warranty, also contain a tone response. Looking at Innotek Ultrasmart IUT 1000, which is actually cheaper if you shop carefully. Has 1/2 mile (at best--clear straight line) versus 300 yards Spray commander
