It is durable, bounces well, and I like that you can stuff it with treats. our dog enjoys it!  On: 2008-10-15The large KONG is a good size for our 60 lb dog. Ive stuffed it with treats and also use it as a fetch toy. Good times are had by all! Super Durable and Bouncy On: 2008-10-13This is my dogs favorite, not only becuase it usually contain food in it but it is bouncy and you can chew on it for a long time. I also play fetch with this toy which is easy for dog to grab and if they decided to keep the toy for a little chew time - it tires them out quickly because Kong is indestructible. It also bounce alot so it catches the dogs attention and want to go after it. Overall, great buy - I think every dog should have a Kong. Great for dogs who need jobs! On: 2008-08-24Our border collie mix needs lots of mental stimulation, and Kong provides a great way to turn her mealtimes into games. We put her kibble ("small bites") into the Kong and seal off the end with peanut butter. She loves the challenge of getting the kibble out. As a bonus, it extends the time it takes her to consume a meal from five seconds to five minutes, which can only be good for her digestive system. Kong is also very durable. Our Maggie is a power chewer, disemboweling every toy in her path, but the Kong still looks like new. We have several of Kongs competitor toys as well, but none works as well as Kong. The ball-shaped feeder toys tend to roll under furniture and disappear for weeks at a time. Others dispense the food too quickly. Kong has it just right. Lab loves Kong On: 2008-07-22Our almost 4 year old Lab has played with classic kongs since puppyhood. He likes the way they bounce and the sound they make. The kong is easy for him to carry he hooks his canine in the whole and off he goes. Unfortunatly his looses them in the irrigation ditch. Guess that is what keeps the company in business. I would recommend this toy to any dog owner. Thanks for a great product. love the darn thing! On: 2008-06-14love it! ive had the large red classic for some months now and aside from a few teeth marks, my golden retriever has not chewed through this toy, unlike all his other toys which lasts approximately 2 days. Its also a great alternative to throwing toy balls as you really dont know where its going to go end up as it keeps bouncing and bouncing. Its also great to put treats inside and make them figure out how to get it and on hot days, id freeze the toy with water inside so it cools them down while theyre playing. Tiny Kong  On: 2008-04-15Small Kong is not what this is. It is tiny, finger (pinky finger) puppet size. Dog loved it, but not indestructable... On: 2008-04-10Dog loved it, but not indestructible. He goes at this forlong periods of time when theres a treat in it. Would recommend for a puppy of appropriate size. Well be moving onto the medium one soon. Kongs Saved my LIfe! On: 2008-03-21My dogs are home alone while Im at work. We fill Kongs with peanut butter and/or dog treats. It gives them hours of something to do while were away. They can be washed over and over. Great quality. We even use them at the animal shelter b/c they can be bleached. JOCKOS FRENZY! On: 2008-03-20My dog loves this thing though he doesnt play/chew with other toys- this he adores so Im buying another because he sometimes loses this for a couple days then brings it back out to my attention. The peanut butter spray makes him completely in a frenzy to get every bit OUT of this toy- and, btw Ive not found grease spots on my rug at all- he even takes it to bed. BUT - Jocko semi-buried this toy under some bedding and ended up chewing his way to it through a SHEET so LOL if you have a dog that gets this excited keep an eye out! DO use the sprays with this and your dog will love you for it! So far, this has held up very well and 7lb half weenie dog Jocko is quite a voracious chewer. Im surprised and pleased that such a simple durable design works well to keep my dog happy and calm - with healthier teeth and gums too. The spray provides vitamins and keeps his coat beautiful and shiny as well. Built Tough!!!!! On: 2008-03-20Kongs can take a beating. This has lasted so long with our 2 dogs. Great buy. Works exactly as advertised. On: 2008-02-18I purchased this for my Jack Russel after seeing how well it held up with my friends Pitt bull. Her Pitt bull has had her Kong for over 4 years now, and hasnt even dislodged a single PIECE off of her Kong, this thing is INDESTRUCTIBLE. Be sure that you purchase the right size for your particular breed. Too small and your dog may choke! Too large and it wont be very manageable by your pooch, and theyll likely lose interest. A must have for the dog with a penchant for chewing! (all of them) Great dog toy, strong, keeps them occupied On: 2008-02-09We have two Vizsla puppies who are strong chewers and need lots of excitement to keep them occupied. The Kong has been great. We have compared them to the Canine Genius and like the Kong much much better (the food/treats stay inside a lot longer, they hold up better to dog chewing, and the dogs like them more). Highly recommend the Kong, use Peanut Butter or soft cheese to make the treats stay inside even longer. Beagle proof! On: 2008-02-07I have a year and half old beagle that has teeth of steel and a bite strength to match! Ive found few dog toys that could stand up to his tough chewing and thus far the Kong line of toys have been by far the best! Hes had a classic Kong for a year that I give him peanut butter in when I kennel him in the mornings that is just starting to show its abuse. I bought a new one (as a future replacement) at Christmas along with three other Kong toys (I also got him a Kong dental bone, a Kong ball and a Kong bounzer ball). Ive found that these Kong toys far outlast many other toys Ive bought him that claimed to be indestructible, and this classic Kong has held up far longer than would have expected. I would certainly purchase these Kong products again without hesitation. Thank goodness he only chews on his toys! Hooray! She finally GETS it! On: 2008-02-02We bought the red Kong for our dog when we first adopted her, knowing that she would be in the house alone for a few hours at a time. We bought all sorts of toys for her when we first adopted her, but she really didnt seem to understand "playing" at all. She was an adult when we adopted her. She enjoyed playing with the neighbor dogs outside, and enjoyed chewing bones and eating treats and cuddling inside, but her rope chew toy and the Kong just sat there for months. Finally, after much work with her (and, might I add, some extra strong-smelling treats) she finally today is occupying herself with the Kong! Ive never seen her play with anything for so long, unless you count growling at the window or at the cats upstairs. I think the key is that you need to fill it with something strong-smelling so the dog will get past the rubber smell to understand that there is FOOD in there. As my dog has absolutely no interest in peanut butter (I know, right?), I found some "sirloin burger" treats that smell exactly like beef jerky that got her going. And once she finally got all the food out, she figured out that it bounced, and chased it all over for about an hour. Im totally impressed! On: 2008-01-07We have black kongs and love them but constantly step on them and roll our ankles. So we thought the red ones would be easier to see. We just assumed they were all indistructible. They are not. Our pit bull had chewed the red ones completely up in a matter of hours. Our bad. But we really didnt know there was a difference. Dangerous toy for chewing dog under 50 lbs On: 2007-12-12I have a 10 year old Dalmation weighing about 42lbs. The top ring is very weak for a chewing dog. This happened the first day I received the Kong. There was no food in the Kong. I had to pull the top ring from the back of her throat. Very scarry! Kongs are the best On: 2007-12-08Greatest dog toy ever made! All my dogs have loved the kong. Our new puppy is enjoying it tremendously. I just have to make sure out full grown lab doesnt get it and choke on this small one. The Kong and It's Uses On: 2007-11-18I have a 7 lb pug who loves to chew on her kong. She also loves to have frozen peanut butter with her leftover kibble inside of it. When we give her the kong she will just chow down on it for hours. If you dont have a kong yet i highly reccomend it for your dog of any size and any age. Also there are tons of websites with recipes to put inside your kong. Our pug will eat the kong stuffn and the kong puppy stuffers which wil be good for your dogs teethe . So if you are looking for a great chew toy for your dog,PICK THE KONG!!!!! THE Perfect Toy On: 2007-10-05Dog: Boykin Spaniel (huntin breed) Size: 30-35 pound lap dog Favorite Pastimes: napping on the couch, watching Animal Planet, long walks, playing fetch with her daddy and her kong. This is THE perfect toy. My dog is not a chewer by any stretch of the imagination, but she is obsessed with this thing. I mean, obsessed. Recommendation: Get several. They bounce in a strange way, and like to get caught under the furniture. We have lost 1 of 3 so far. small dogs only On: 2007-09-23This toy is not sturdy enough for a dog over 10lbs - learned the hard way. My 50lb dog bit the top off in les than 5 minutes Good chewing or for bouncing On: 2007-09-20Shell sit there and chew this for hours. She really enjoys the game of chasing as it bounces random directions - usually 3 bounces off my hardwood. The small is about the size of a computer mouse. Recently I had collapsed lung surgery and now use the filling of Kongs for a six minute treadmill break. He now joins me on the treadmill for about the first three minutes before jumping off to work on his latest Kong. Kongs are a lasting feature in our lives. The Amazon Provider of a two years supply of Kongs (6) was excellent and very competitively priced. I recommend both the Kong and Supplier at a 5 star level. Great, durable, educational toy ! Ill sometimes fill this with baby food when I am using it as a training treat. What dog doesnt love a Kong toy and this Kong is large enough that it holds more stuffable food inside. On: 2007-02-14My Samoyed loves this toy and so far hasnt managed to trash it. Yay! Its sturdy and VERY chewable. Excellent for Small Doggies On: 2007-02-10We have two small Poms who like to get their teeth into everything. They will stay busy trying to get the treat out for a long time, after awhile they will get the treat and want some more. The doggie toy is made up of very tuff rubber and you will not have to worry about the dog tearing it up and perhaps getting the pieces into their stomachas and may not be able to pass it, then off to the vet you go. Very safe for your dog or dogs. Keep 'em busy. On: 2006-12-25I bought this for my dog last Christmas and she loves it. It keeps her busy for quite a long time. Legendary For A Reason On: 2006-12-24Im quite sure that my dog - a large Border Collie mix - loves his Kong more than he loves me. I fill it with peanut butter and let him spend a happy hour slurping it out; I stuff a large treat inside and watch him puzzle over how to free it; I simply throw and bounce it around for him to chase. Its funny looking and a little hard to clean (though it does go in the dishwasher!), but its pure doggie joy, and at a great price. If my dog ever manages to chew this one up, hell get another. Great Dog Toy On: 2006-12-19My dogs love their Kongs, especially filled with their favorite treats. Cant wait to try the Ziggies as they are supposed to fit inside the Kongs to create a wonderful "project" for times when I want to distract or amuse my Springers. I even use these in the KongTime machine. THE BEST BIG DOG TOY EVER On: 2006-12-03We have a 65 pound lab/husky mix. She manages to destroy soft toys, vinyl toys, rope toys, squeaker toys, chew bones...just about everything in under 20 minutes. (especially if left unsupervised) She has 3 of these large, red kong toys that have lasted for over a year! They are the best toys for large, aggressive chewers. The kong spray that you can purchase to spray inside the toy made our dog sick. We have since learned that many other brand-name treats also fit inside the toy if you squash it a little bit. Our lab loves it On: 2006-11-28We have a 7 month old lab who loves it. Its the only toy that we have tried that he cant chew through. And he chews through almost anything (tennis toughies, raw hide bones, etc etc). He has had it for 3 weeks and is still as fascinated by it as he was on day one. Most durable dog toy yet On: 2006-11-09This dog toy is the most durable one I have had for my dog. He had chewed and destroyed every other brand we got. It is still going strong, Kong bones are great too!! Not for tough chewers. On: 2006-03-31I bought this for my puppy (Golden Retriever) and he chewed it up in about two days. He chewed the WHOLE thing until there was nothing left. It did keep him interested though. I bought kong peanut flavor treats and those worked well. It was okay. A Good Toy For A Dog Who Likes To Chew On: 2006-03-09When I got my 8 week old Golden Retriever puppy I bought him a small sized kong. He liked it although it didnt intertain him for very long. The liver and beef treats worked well and he liked them alot. At least he couldnt chew it open! I would rate it a 4. My beagle.... On: 2006-01-25You know beagles love chewing. My new beagle who came from a shelter loves to chew. I mean, he LOVES chewing anything he sees!!! Since my husband and I work fulltime and we have to leave him in a crate all day, Every morning, I stuff low sodium peanut butter and dog treat, and he loves it lick and chew all day! And even after all day chewing, the Kong doesnt break at all. I also like the Kong bounds and rolls everywhere because of the funny shape and he loves to chase. This is the best dog toy Ive ever got! great for puppies who like to chew On: 2005-11-22I have a miniature poodle puppy who eats everything in sight (including some unfortunate trips to the cats litter box). I bought him one of these and fill it with the peanut butter stuff in a can. Its his favorite toy, or at least I think it is because he loses his mind every time I start to refill it. Its well worth the few dollars (and the price for the cans of peanut butter spray). Keeps a German Shepherd Happy On: 2005-01-03My German shepherd loves this toy. As both my husband and I work we have to leave her alone for 8 hours a day. I give her a kong filled with treats each morning and often when I get home that she is still working on getting the stuff out. Any toy that keeps this chewing machine occupied for that long is worth its weight in gold! Best Dog Toy Ever! On: 2004-11-09My Boston Terrier LOVES this toy. It is fun to use as a fetch toy and has an unpredictable bounce. My dog will stand on the couch, throw the kong himself, and runs after it when I am too busy to throw it for him. For a special treat, I put cheerios or dog food in the toy with a little peanut butter and he is occupied for a good 30 minutes trying to get every piece out. When he is in a chewing mood he will gnaw at this thing for a long time. He has never tried to chew on any furniture because he loves this toy so much. We have had this toy for over a year, and it does have some little pieces missing. The manufacturer says you should take the toy away in that case- but I dont think it is necessary. Small pieces will come right out the other end with no trouble! Excellent toy! |
