On: 2008-10-27This waterer has a smooth surface on the entire surface in which the water comes in contact. VERY easiy to clean, no rough surface, ALL areas are accessable by hand (for cleaning). Has valve in cap so when its inverted onto the bowl it may be then be opened AFTER the water jug is inverted. Anti-microbal plastic bowl. Smaller 2.5 gallon size most practical, the jug snaps securely into the base also. An improvement over my "Le Bistro" (formerly Igloo) waterer..... Rough inside of bowl made thorough cleaning nearly impossible, inaccessable round area below bottle REALLY hard to clean, jug totally impossible to clean (internally). While inverting jug resulted in **glug glug** water everywnere. Good riddance!!! Good waterer for dogs, overall  On: 2008-09-14The bottle stays quite securely in the base, and the walls of the base are high enough that my dogs generally dont spill the water out of it. Of course the entire unit can be tipped over, but overall its quite sturdy and stays upright unless pushed over quite hard (e.g., when one of my dogs has a seizure). What I like best about the unit is its easy to fill in a regular sink, e.g., a not-deep bathroom sink. It appears the manufacturer sized the water container intentionally for this, as its pretty nearly a perfect fit in my sink to fill. It has a wide opening so looks like it will be easy to clean if/when I need to (I havent yet). The water is controlled in coming out by a separate little cap/hole in the lid. With that open and the container in place on the base, the water trickles out into the water dish portion. The cap is very secure, but sometimes its a bit hard to get it aligned so it screws on tightly. Overall, Im very happy with these units. Ive bought several of them for my rather large dogs. Great buy On: 2008-02-04My two cats loved tipping their old water bowl over. With this bowl its impossible for them to tip it over. The reservoir is thick enough to hold water just fine, no reason to baby it. Holds a lot! On: 2007-10-01This waterer holds a lot of water = 1.5 gallons! Very easy to use. I have 6 little dogs and once this is filled, it doesnt run out for about a week. What I like is that the bottom is gray so it doesnt look dirty like other ones that are lighter in color. I had previously used another similar gadget where you screw in a 2 liter bottle but once the water started coming down the pressure would make the bottle "dent in" and this does NOT do that. I have the matching food dispenser and it looks very nice. Again that holds about a weeks worth of food for my 6 little chihuahua sized dogs. Self Watering Dish On: 2007-04-05Love this dish can clean it on the inside unlike others. Large size makes it easy for me to leave my cats a day or two and know they are taken care of. Okay for price  On: 2007-03-15The water tank is rather thin plastic so it should be handled w/care. I like the depth of the base since my cats dont spill it as easily as they do w/ a different brand.
