I bought these for years. The liver squares appeared to be made of liver slurry, pressing into molds and then freeze dried. The advantage was that the pieces were uniform and soft enough to crumble over the dog food as an enticement to eat.
The company must have changed suppliers. Now the pieces look like pieces of cut up liver, with all shapes and sizes. The pieces are really hard, and cant be crushed with your fingers. I called the company; they were very nice and replaced the tub I bought, but the product has clearly changed. After 7 years, I wont be buying from Beefeaters again.
I now buy Bellyrubs freeze-dried liver made by Meyers Country Farms - not available through Amazon ;-(
