So much safer to set - so 2* - but for the rats too!     On: 2006-01-10

I would love to give this trap a 5* rating because setting it is soooo much safer than the Victor brand traditional traps. The design looks and feels like "a better rat trap" but has the one drawback that I get a lot more sprung traps without any victim than I do with the Victor traps. By the way I have no affiliation with Victor at all. I just like to kill rats. Talking of Victor, they make two types (that I know of) - a traditional one with a small metal bait holder, which scares the Sh*t out of me when I set them, but is as good as it gets w.r.t. dead vermin. They newer and safer ones have a large yellow paddle which is easier to set (nothing like as easy as the Big Snap-E trap though) and are still effective. The older type still has the hairier trigger though...

Bait - Ive used dried apricots, peanut butter and gummiworms all to good effect. Im told fruit gums work well, but my local store only had worms. Didnt make much difference to the momentarily happy rat I caught last week. ;-) Cheese is quite poor.

I also had one of the Big-E traps break - in the trip mechanism. I have to confess I didnt bother to find out how their customer service is - its a $5 trap after all - but its a shame it broke.

Hope you kill lots of rats.
