The Zoom Groom is a good brush but even better for the tub. My beagle never liked getting brushed but with the Zoom Groom it seems shes a little more comfortable. But its also a little hard to get all the hairs off the brush without water. In the tub you can get out even more hair and really massage the coat. Id recommend this for the tub. For everyday brushing Is stick to a regular brush or deshedding tool.
Works best when my dog is wet from a bath.     On: 2008-05-16

I have a pug and have used this before but this time used it after a bath and got allot more hair off her because when the hair is wet its not as slick therefore the hair sticks to the rubber better and you get more traction and it pulls out more and quicker. I got a huge pile off my dog and she seems very relaxed now. :)
My dog loves this brush!     On: 2008-05-08

Ive been using this brush for about a year on my Husky, and she loves it. It works great and really getting the undercoat out. It also works well for mud and dirt clumps that get stuck in her long coat when shes outside. We just let it dry for a little while, and brush it out with the Zoom Groom, and the dirt comes right out!
A real gift     On: 2008-05-04

Our little mixed terrier has always been a terrible shedder. Weve brushed her regularly, used a shedding blade, and added fish oil to her diet, but all of these things only provided marginal improvements. We were resigned to her shedding like a monster for the rest of her life. Then we ran into someone who recommended the Zoom Groom. It not being for sale locally, we ordered it online -- figured anything was worth a try. Well, the difference made by using it was instantaneous and dramatic. It spread the oils through her coat like nothing else. She looks like a different dog. No more dryness, much less shedding, a much neater coat. And we can use it on areas that were too sensitive for the shedding blade.

Add to all this the fact that its light and small and easy to carry, which means we can bring it along and groom her outdoors on close to a daily basis -- which is what she needs. If your dog has any of the kinds of problems I described, you really ought to try this. Im sure there are some kinds of coats it wouldnt work well on, but, as far as our lovable wiry-haired mutt goes, its been almost miraculous.

Does wonders for my golden     On: 2007-12-26

I went to the pet store with a coupon in my hand for one of those furminators. I had questions about it and the store clerk directed me to ask on of the groomers. The groomer didnt even recommend the furminator. She told me about the Zoom Groom. I asked if it was cheaper and she said lots. I was very skeptical at first because the Zoom Groom is made of plastic but since it was under 10 bucks I figured Id give it a try. I have a golden retriever who is about 9 months old. I would normally have to vaccum my apartment twice a day. Just the mere touch of him would leave you filled with dog hair. After 1 week zoom groom all of that has changed. I drove with my dog from Atlanta-DC for Christmas and the car seat was not filled with dog hair. Family members instantly noticed how little hair they saw around the house. I brush my dog for a few minutes everyday and zoom groom never irritates his skin unlike how the metal rakes can. I also notice less and less hair comes up wth each brush. Zoom groom is great..please note perfect results were not immediate. But give it a few days and you will notice results all over your house.
Best brush for short haired dogs     On: 2007-11-29

At the do-it-yourself dog wash, I had the chance to brush my pug/beagle mix with the zoom groom before her bath, then used it to work in the shampoo, and couldnt help but buy one on our way out. I love this brush, it is terrific. I had tried 3 brushes on Hannahs short fur, but she was shedding terribly. We spend a few minutes outside each week with the Kong Zoom Groom and the fur inside the house has been greatly reduced!
UNBELIEVABLE how well this brush works!     On: 2007-08-09

Ive never written a product review, but felt compelled after using this brush on my pug.

I never realized how much he sheds until I brushed him with this product and the loose hair started literally piling up on his back. Every time I changed direction (with and against the grain of his fur, sideways, in circles, etc.), even more loose hair surfaced. I think it has something to do with the static electricity from the rubber "bristles," but Im just guessing.

He hates regular brushes but loves the feeling of the Zoom Grooms pliable, rubbery "fingers" -- he even carries it around in his mouth!

I bought another for my moms shepherd mix. His hair is long enough to collect in the brush, so she just peels the clump out when shes done. My pugs hair isnt long enough to stick up in the brush, so I just run my hand down his back to wipe the loose hair away. (This is definitely an outdoor process!)

I highly recommend this product and will be giving it as gifts for pet-owning friends.
A gentle alternative to slicker brushes     On: 2007-07-12

Our dog doesnt like slicker brushes, as they are too rough/hard on her coat, but natural hairbrush-style brushes dont really help with shedding. The zoom groom is a nice compromise - it pulls out the dead fur in her undercoat and is soft enough that she likes to be brushed. Weve also used the brush "wet" during her dog baths and it does a nice job of lathering her up. Our one complaint is that the brush really doesnt "grab" the loose fur the way the description claimed (shes a lab). Most of the fur it pulls out ends up flying off onto the ground or sitting on top of her coat. If we brush her outside and run our hands over her coat when weve finished, it works well.
Pet Owners MUST have Zoom Grooms     On: 2007-05-17

Ive been a Zoom Groom user for 6 years. I had 2 cats and 1 dog in that time and have used it on all three. My cat is a Russian Blue type with a thick undercoat and a normal overcoat. She needs constant brushing and has hated nearly every brush Ive used on her. She ran from the wire slicker brush, she would bite the round shedder brush, and regular soft-bristle brushes just didnt work. When I bought the Zoom Groom, I had no hope for it to be any different. Boy was I wrong - my cat turned into a brush lover. Anywhere that she is, if she sees you take out a Zoom Groom she will come running. I used to keep it in a drawer and everytime I opened the drawer shed run over. Now its in the bathroom and she follows me in there every time I go (even when its not for brushing her!). The brush also works better and is easier to use than any other brush Ive tried. It really pulls up the undercoat and makes her super smooth and shiny. It also works great on my short haired Boston Terrier/Chihuhua cross dog. The fur mats on the brush better with the cat than the dog, but a lot of the fur for both of them does wind up either on the floor or in clumps on the animal itself and you do need to pick it off. As other reviewers have said, it works great in the bath with the dog - it really helps lather and remove the dead fur.

I have given these as gifts to the pet owners that I know and everyone agrees - its the best brush youll find, especially for the money. Do yourself and your pet a favor, and buy one today.

Also of note: its made of silicone so you can stick it in the top rack of the dishwasher or wash it with anti-bacterial soap and it will get clean.

Good for fine-haired animals and dog bathing     On: 2007-04-02

After watching my friend use this to brush a wad of loose fur from her boxer, a dog that I didnt know even needed brushing, I knew I had to have this. It works very well on my cat, pulling the undercoat out and helping eliminate dandruff, but not as well on my Border Collie, whose hairs are coarse and heavy. Where it really came in handy with the dog was in her bath, as you can use it to lather up. My only wish is that it would cling better to the hair; instead of the hair matting into the brush, it collects on your animal for you to scoop up. I still recommend it, though, as the pets enjoy it better than any other brush.
I don't know how it works, but I'm glad it does!     On: 2007-03-31

My dog sheds year round, though it seems to be worse right now with the seasons changing. Her topcoat sheds the worst, so it isnt the nice fluffy hair, its the little individual hairs that get trapped in everything. Our trainer had recommended a Zoom Groom a long time ago, and I just never picked one up. We have company coming this weekend, and I was thinking how nice it would be if I could get the dog brushed well so she might not shed as bad. I picked up the Zoom Groom and tried it for the first time today. I wish you could see how much hair came off of her, but since I did it outside, a lot of it was gone with the wind. I could see it flying off of her, though. I got two good Zoom Grooms full, besides what flew away. I am sure I could get more if I kept working at it, but it was amazing that she had any hair left after how much came out. I have yet to see if this helps her from shedding so much, but it is by far the best brush I have owned.

NOT JUST A BRUSH     On: 2007-01-17

I have a 10 yr old, white beagle/boxer whose needle like fur get stuck in everything! I read many reviews before deciding to try this one. I bought it 2 wks ago and use it every morning for a few minutes. It spreads the oil in her coat and gets most of her loose fur out. I know its working because when I sweep up the fur I see less in the dust pan every day and her dog bed is alot cleaner. Her coat is shinier and softer than ever, not oily. And now, when I pet her, I only see a few stray hairs on my hand, not a handful. My dog comes running when she sees it and gets so relaxed that she slowly slides around on the floor. She wont leave my side until its put away. Its so easy to clean. I just wash it along with my hands when Im done. EXCELLENT BONUS USE -- Great for getting out the fur thats stuck in my couch. I have never been able to get those out without picking by hand, which takes forever!!! This removed almost every hair in minutes. I bet this would work great on rugs, car interiors and maybe jackets and other clothing. The possibilities seem endless. I cant wait to find out! For all of its uses, this is worth more than the cost.

Makes bath time better     On: 2006-11-27

Our beagle barely tolerates getting a bath -- not a fan of water, he tries to wiggle out of the tub. We tried using the zoom groom as a bath brush and it helped a lot. He calmed down immediately and even seemed to enjoy the way it felt. He has such a hard, dense coat -- the zoom groom during bath time helped strip out more of the loose fur, and it got him a lot cleaner than using our hands alone. Only give it 4 stars because I wish it came it different sizes -- but other than that, a great product.
Dogs will love this.     On: 2006-10-30

I have one for my cat and bought this one for a longer-haired cat. It works great because it gets that undercoat that no other brushing tool gets. My cat and my daughters dog have hot spots - and since we have been able to get rid of the under coats they have really calmed down. Now they just want to be brushed because they love it!

I have 4 large dogs - 3 are rescues - all of which are labs and/or lab X. I use the Zoom Groom (a different color for each one) on them all and they love it and sit very still the whole time. It picks up the undercoat and loose hairs that would normally end up on the carpet. Great product.

Very Useful     On: 2006-08-03

The Zoom Groom is perfect for grooming labrador retrievers! It catches all that underhair before it hits the ground. A great tool.
