  Advanced Dental Chews - Oval By: Animal Dermatology Average Rating: 1.0 Total Reviews: 1 More Information Warning - Dangerous ingredient  On: 2007-03-24I am returning the Advanced Dental Chews that I recently received because of the highly toxic ingredient of the artificial sweetener Xylitol. I am glad that I looked before I fed. You may not even be aware of this. Although I have giant dogs and perhaps it would not be as deadly, the current research has been showing that it can be very deadly to smaller canines. The research came from the American Veterinary Medical Association and the poison unit of the AMerican Society for the Prevention of Cruely to Animals in Urbana, Illinois.....all indicating that Xylitol...even a small amount can cause illness, liver failure, and death. There was a Press release from New York (Reuters) on Friday September 29.....since then there has been more incididence. I have heard considerable more on this since this initial press release. Xlitol should not be included in any canine ingredients. Please pass this on. In light of the recent poisoning, I think consumers are going to become a lot more aware of what they are buying and from whom. |
