![]() Dog Coat - Two Toned Base Camp Hooded Parka Pet Jacket - Medium By: Casual Canine Average Rating: 4.0 Total Reviews: 4 More Information NOT great for cold climates -- We're astonished that others think this is a reasonable amount of polyester 'stuffing' Our family doesnt know what to make of the positive reviews for this jacket. We ordered the same jacket, and what arrived was basically a featherweight and ultrathin nylon shell with a TINY amount of unquilted polyester filling unevenly distributed inside the shell. I mean, spring and fall weight at BEST. Truly, if I take the jacket between my fingers, theres *zero* stuffing in large areas -- its like rolling a satin sheet between your fingers. Nowhere *near* warm enough for our small dog in 30 degrees, let alone 10 or 20 degrees! Perhaps different sellers are shipping different jackets under the same listing. Whatever the explanation, all we know is that received a jacket with nowhere near enough stuffing for any small dog in wintertime in the Northeast. Next I guess well be trying out real parkas from places like Lands End, REI, LL Bean, or similar. Warm Jack Russel Terrier My Jack Russel Terrier has an extremely thin hair coat--and her belly is basically bare. We live on a farm in North Idaho. She is fine out running around through the snow (for a while, anyway) when she can generate lots of body heat, but she needed something to wear in the car in the winter. As we know, it doesnt take long for that car to get cold while parked. This parka has been absolutely wonderful! She stays nice and toasty and it doesnt hang up on the seats like a fleece coat. Ive bought a parka for each car and I have an extra in the house. You cant beat the price! Linda Warm but not warm enough waterproof? Its seems like a well designed coat but underneath strap to close for urinating (male) also I would have preferred a coat that was alittle more wieghty for the Colorado snow this is kinda thin dont know how waterproof they need to redesign it with better waterproof material and more wieght to protect the snow bound dogs! hard to find cute dog coat, but watch those straps! This dog coat is made well, looks great, and seems comfortable. The only drawback is that the straps that hold the back of the coat in place are such that when the dog urinates, the straps get wet. To avoid this we put the velcro straps on top of the coat. Not the best solution but did the trick. Still not bad for the price. A nice warm coat, but it could use a few things... This review was originally posted on 12/12/05. At the time it was pretty relevant because it was one of the major events that led to Morris deciding to run-away. Amazon seems to have taken it down at some point, so I just reposted it as is. Its actually quite sad in hind-sight. Please keep your eyes out for him guys. I get more worried every day. Anyways, heres the review: Hello, Im Howard Tuttleman. Earlier tonight Morris (my dog) and I got into a bit of a spat. To make it up to him I am going to write this review for him. Its an idea Ive been fascinating myself with ever since I noticed he cant type, but have been saving it for a special occasion. I call this new style "A Dogs Eye ReView". Ok, so for now on Im Morris. Starting now. Hello, Im Morris Tuttleman. Today I accidentally saw what Howard (my human) got me for christmas. It was this great blue and beige hooded two-tone dog parka. I immediately wanted to try it on, but mom went and put it on the stupid coat rack where I cant reach it. She must not have noticed me noticing it. When Howard got home I tried to let him know my enthusiasm by jumping and barking-around. For some reason he just went up to his room. I waited and waited and waited until finally he came out for dinner. Again I tried to let him know that I was very excited about the coat by chasing my-tail for awhile. Instead he put me under the dinner-table and tried to poison me. I got very upset at this and went up to his room because thats what he always does. To my surprise the door was open and the parka was lying there on his bed. Again I waited and waited and waited for him to come back from dinner. He took so long that I forgot about the coat, so when he got there I just acted like I wanted to kill him. Then he put the parka on me, but I was so into wrestling with him I didnt realize it. And then I did notice and was happy, so I decided to walk around the house and show off my new coat that I love so much and now Im reviewing it. Ok, lets review. Ill start with the good things. Its warm and has a very nice hood-attachment. The colors are modern and stylish. I really like this parka except for a lot of certain parts. My main concern is that it has no pockets. Being a dog, its already hard for me to hold things. Near impossible when Im running around doing my day-to-day activities. I can usually handle about one item in my mouth. Two if Im really tricky. Pockets are a very-valuable asset. Also, this coat requires human-assistance to put on. Ive figured out a way to take it off in case of an emergency, but its difficult to say the least. In conclusion, the parka is still great and I love Howard for it. He is an amazing-hu-man. This parka would greatly compliment a pair of Muttluks All-Weather-Doggie-Gloves (HINT HINT HOWARD. LOL). Later morristuttleman.com Howard Back. This is Howard typing now. See what I did there? Dont really go to that web-page. Its a joke on my web-page. Ok, so dont go there. Its not real. Just so you guys know and dont tell Morris, I think I am going to get him those Muttluks. They look great. Later. howardtuttleman.com my dog loves it I am the type to dress my dog for fun, but i am moving to PA from Florida, and knew my dog would be cold. I ordered this jacket and it is easy on and off.The velcro is great! The hood is snapped on so it doesnt pull off. and she doesnt mind wearing it! |
