![]() Innotek Two Zone One Dog Indoor System Average Rating: 3.5 Total Reviews: 6 More Information Small dogs do fine, you need to be patient! My Boston Terrier 5 months old puppy learned in one day. Sure she was scared and didnt want to come from under the chair for a few minutes, but she was fine the next day. If you give up, then you will never discipline your dog. You have to be consistent just like when you discipline kids. If you feel sorry for them when they cry and give up, the discipline will not work. My dog has no need to wear the collar after two days and its been a week already. She knows that she cannot go to those places. I started with saying "no" when she was heading to those zone places and then when she ignored the "no" she got shocked. Now she associates my NO" with getting punished if she doesnt listen so whenever I say "no" this dog immediately obeys me for anything, not just where the zones are located. Boston Terriers are very smart, so she might try to go to those places again in the future, but for now I have no need to continue using the collar. I know she doesnt go to the basement because the litterbox is not messy. When she used to go there, shed dig through the litterbox and there was cat litter everywhere. Not sure why dogs love cat poop. Not for small dogs! i put this on my pug and was horrified the first time he was shocked. the "harmless" zap knocked him on his back. my usually happy, easy-going puggy was apprehensive and afraid to move out of his corner. maybe this collar wont affect larger dogs quite the same way, but i think ill stick with gates and verbal corrections. Great Product - But things you should know before buying The zones work great, within the limits listed below. Good Points 1. Has a A, B, and AB setting which lets you control individual dog access to areas or objects (such as separate food bowls for special diets, rooms, etc) 2. The shock is mild but definitely uncomfortable (I tested it on me before I used it on the dogs). It is milder than the strong static shocks I regularly get around the house. 3. The dogs quickly learn to avoid things that cause shocks. Limits 1. Collar wear is recommended to be limited to 12 hours due to rubbing by the stud on the neck. This can be a problem with intelligent dog and schedules requiring longer wear times. Intelligent dogs can quickly learn that the collar is the source of the shock and can wait until they are not wearing it to get into the forbidden. 2. The range increments listed (2-12 ft) are not dependable. I find mine, with direct line of sight, is half that or less. 3. The six available range settings are not enough. There are times that 1 or 2 ft increment is too much. 4. Area of affect is spherical. Keep this in mind when deciding where to use them. Depending on the range setting, just walking by the counter or under the table can set them off even if all you intended was to discourage Fluffys nose from appearing on the counter/table top. The only way to alleviate this is to find some way to dangle the zone from the ceiling to correctly limit the reaction area to those 3 ft off the floor. I was very skeptical about buying this product. I have a 9 year old, very hard to train dog. We have always had trouble with him reaching the counter top and the table to eat our food. 2 days with this product and we have a changed dog. He learned so quickly not to go to these areas and our house has been much quiter. We used to have to crate him at our meal times because he would try to eat our food (he would bark at us during the entire meal). Now he can be out and sitting next to the table and wont even try to get our food. It took about a week before he was comfortable going near the table and walking by our center island in the kitchen but now he is completely fine and he even has stopped trying to eat my childrens toys and getting on the couches. Before the Zones product we tried years of training, chocker collar and pincher collar and nothing would work. This is the most amazing product that has made life so much better for my family. We arent constantly disciplining the dog for getting into things, he just knows he cant do it now. I know people think that it is bad to "shock" the dog but we tried everything else and he wouldnt listen, he was only actually shocked a few times before he figured out that he had to listen this time. Now he never gets shocked because he knows that he shouldnt go to those areas. Smart dog learns quickly and avoids shock. We purchased a new home and inherited an already installed Invisible Fence. We certainly had reservations about using "shock" to train our dog to stay in our yard. However, it only took a couple shocks for the dog to learn to retreat at the audible sound prior to shock. Same for indoor barrier. Smart dogs will learn from the correction quickly and avoid any type of shock later on. I found it much better than tripping over gates (especially while 7 months pregnant) or chasing and yelling at the dog. Our house is much more at peace w/out the frustration of daily disciplining dog for breaking through our gate barriers. He now has free roam of a large area of home w/out entering the NO, NO zones. This is a shock coller Purchased item to limit our dogs access to some areas of our house.....The item description leads one to believe that it works by sound emission, but actually uses SCHOCK to harm the dog when it gets near the transmitter. Absolutely inhumane.
