Needs Work     On: 2008-10-17

I was excited because this bowl was made of plastic, we had one of the metal ones and it started rusting. Like other reviewers have said the hose connection is awful. After trying 3 different hoses, Ive chucked this bowl in the trash.
Works great so far     On: 2008-09-24

Its nice to finally find an automatic pet waterer that doesnt require special plumbing or anything like that, and at such a reasonable price. I just screwed it onto the end of my garden hose, and that was that. It sure has saved me a lot of water-schlepping for one dog, four cats, and two chickens.

If you experience leaks like some of the other reviewers have, try making sure the hose-gasket is still inside the female threads on the waterer. I can well imagine this little rubber ring could fall out and get lost inside the packing material during shipment. (If you already threw the box away, hose gaskets are five for a buck at your local hardware store.)

I dont think Ill be using a Quick-connect device for mine, because I find that those need a lot of water-pressure to work properly, and I am keeping the water-pressure turned down rather low on the faucet I have this dish connected to. Works great so far, and its nice not to have to worry about the critters having enough water in hot weather.
Great Watering Bowl - Remember to get hose and/or connector!     On: 2008-07-19

This is a great product for a reasonable price. Important NOTE: Although it will connect to a garden hose, it might not connect to a "standard" garden hose because of the type of thread (female or male). This product works great with a TastePURE 22743 10 Reinforced RV Fresh Water Hose.

I also got Gilmour Brass 2-Way Connector, #13 so I can connect my "standard" garden hose to the facet as well.
Easy and simple     On: 2008-07-15

So far this product has been great. Since it is still summertime, I cant say how it performs during freezing weather. I really like that it doesnt overflow like some other watering devices.
Maybe I'm lucky- no problems     On: 2008-03-02

Im not sure if others just got a lousy bowl, or if I just happened to get one of the few good ones. But either way, I have been using mine for a month and there seems to be no problem. No leaking or anything. I am using a regular hose that I cut down and put a plastic type hose fixer on the end that attaches to the faucet(Walmart- 50 cents) and a quick connect fixture that connects to the bowl. So far it has not gotten scummy, but my dogs drink a lot. They are over 50 lbs. each. I also have it sitting on top of a bench and I keep the water turned very low, barely on.
Terrific for the money     On: 2008-02-10

I seen some of the other reviews which criticised the fittings. True, they are weak and I took some of mine off and replaced them with PVC and glued all the fittings with standard PVC glue and I was careful not to over tighten them. I used a adapter fitting so that it would accept a 1/4 poly line. The fitting I used was a Watts quick connect. You simply push the poly line in and it stays. To remove the line so that you can clean the bowl you push the collar in and pull the line out. If you do this put a shut off on it. I put mine in the house and mounted it to the wall. The float valve is covered and can not be bumped pushed or touched by the pets. The valve seals off securly without any leaking by causing any over flow. I hooked mine to a Reverse Osmosis unit in my basement. It stays full and is not hard to remove for cleaning. I did not run the screws all the way against the bowl leaving enough room to slip if up and off the screws. Even if you have a garden hose on it you should probably change the fittings as they seem really weak. With PVC being so much stronger I wonder why they chose those fittings.
Nice Idea, Poor Execution     On: 2007-12-19

I went through three of these things before finally giving up. The hose connection is of VERY poor quality and does not seal well. I went through different hoses and multiple bowls before throwing the towel in. It did keep water level in the bowl, unfortunately, it encouraged puddles around it too since it didnt have a good seal. Maybe if they ever upgrade to a metal fitting, Ill try it again.
Junk     On: 2007-12-14

This was a waste of money. It to a while to get it dialed in (just like Tonis review said above). It worked for a few weeks and then got so scummy. It was impossible to clean properly. The scum was growing from the inside (the part you cant get to) and just seemed unsanitary for the dogs.
NOT WORTH THE PRICE OR THE TROUBLE     On: 2007-10-02

I purchased the product based on the 2 other positive reviews on Amazon. I must have gotten the one in the lot that does not work. The hose advertised with it, and purchased, did not fit. I used my own hoses. I purchased a brand new hose. It leaks, period. We spent hours adjusting it. It is made of cheap plastic. I have no problem with the Dish being made of plastic, but the housing where the hose is supposed to fit, does not have a tight fit when the hose is put on, so it leaks at the joint. I just purchased another product today, and am just taking the money loss, because it is not worth it to be aggravated further, by returning the product, so I am out $28 plus. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT. IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY OR THE TIME!
Autowata bowl     On: 2007-08-27

This is a nice quality product at a reasonable price. Thats the good news. The bad news is that my dog, A 70Lb male Boxer, took an immediate dislike to this product. He literally destroyed it in a matter of hours so I cant really comment as to its long term effectiveness. It is a nice product...too bad my dog didnt think so. He is a rescued dog so perhaps he went to Doggie College as a demolitions expert. :)
Never empty! Great invention!     On: 2007-07-25

I really like this product. Ive been using the bowl for about a week and it really is cool. I have a Boxer and a mutt that share this bowl & even though it seems a bit small, it is never empty because it automatically refills. It has a float mechanism built-in like a swamp cooler, so it always stays at the right level & since its connected by hose, the water is always fresh and cold. AWESOME!
