My Cat Likes These Eardrops     On: 2008-10-25

Actually, my cat hates eardrops. But she sure is happy she used these because its saved her from having to go thru any more eardrops of meds that didnt help. I wish wed just done this in the beginning of her chronic ear infections.
Shed been thru oral antibiotics, and various drops. Her ear smelled bad. And not even like a normal infection. Quite frankly, it smelled like rancid yeast.
Shes been on it for a couple of weeks and the smell is gone. The scabs are gone from the back of her ear where shed dug herself raw. The oozing is gone.

Try this stuff. Give it time to work and youll be glad you did.
Super product     On: 2008-04-01

I use this on my Westie who had bad yeast problems. She has improved almost to not ever needing it again and I saved tons of money at the vets, I also use the zymox shampoo which works well on her skin problems. The way I can tell something works, that there is improvement. I highly recommend this.
Better than the Vet, and the Science behind it is valid     On: 2008-03-27

I used the one with the hydrocortisone because my vet said it sooths the itching. It worked! Better than anything the vet ever did. So I researched it. No peer-reviewed journal evidence as to its effectiveness - yet - but it is patented, and the enzymes are antibacterial. Im a neuroscientist, not a doctor, but based on the patent description, I wouldnt recommend that anyone mess around with their own home brewed enzyme concoction! This formula is very specific, designed to avoid water-borne bacteria. And my dog is free of irritated ears for the first time in 2 years. markrobertwaldman. com
Zymox Otic is excellent     On: 2008-03-10

All my cats have very probably succumbed to a yeast infection called Cryptococcosis which is harbored in the head and lungs of the cats. A new cat showed very quickly a badly infected eye but I knew from past experience that the eye itself was not the original source of the infection. Besides the eye infection, the cat was shaking his ears, a typical symptom of an ear infection. Eventually my other cats infected with the yeast would show a gunky residue in the outer ear, quite different in appearance to ear mite residue. The Zymotic Otic solution, when placed in the ear, drips down into the skull. The new cats eye infection disappeared in one day-that eye infection could be bacterial, but the initial infection in the ear canal and the skull is from Cryptococcosis. Zymotic Otic kills both yeasts and bacteria but of course, you cannot put it into an eye.

I live in New Mexico and an area with lots of white winged doves which are the source of Cryptococcosis yeasts. I have studied this disease for years and had hoped to earn a grant to study it further since every cat in my household has succumbed to severe environmental allergic symptoms such as ear infections, rodent ulcers and Eosinophilic plaques. (The medication for treating Crypto directly is Itraconazole or Ketoconazole and it is prohibitively expensive). I had written a a paper called "My Trailer is Like Typhoid Mary" in which I discuss evidence that the yeast has saturated the trailer which has sat in the same spot for twenty years- and white- winged doves nest right on the roof in the branches of a cottonwood leaning against the house.I sent a copy of the paper to various agencies in New Mexico but couldnt interest them in funding a research grant.

I am not a veterinarian but a botanist. It seems pathetic that the observations I have made have more or less gone down the drain. I have a very good case for the presence of Cryptococcosis but the key observation has to be the identification of the yeast in the cats by microscope or culture and again, I cant afford to pursue this.(I have droppings from a white-winged dove nest and Id bet my bootees youd find the yeast right there).

If you are a professional interested in reading "My Trailer is Like Typhoid Mary" I can send it by PDF, its free. Your input would be valuable. Write for it at smithie52@hotmail.com.

Bear in mind, please, that Zymox Otic, is for use in treating general bacteria and yeast infections in the animals ear and not specifically for one yeast pathogen such as Crypto. If you are treating any yeast infection it is best to select the Zymox without cortisone because yeasts are known to proliferate on steroids. The Zymox is very reasonable in price and it is available without a prescription, and I can heartily recommend it. And if you live anywhere where there are white-winged doves, take heed of my remarks! Beware of the environmental allergic symptoms I discuss above. Dogs can acquire yeasts, as well as cats.

P.S. As an interesting aside, people whos immune system is compromised, such as with AIDS,can be susceptible to Cryptococcosis.
Zymox IS the all-purpose ear saver...     On: 2007-11-05

Zymox effectively treats the most common types of ear infections, especially those acquired by long-eared or working dogs that often pass infections along from one to another. Zymox is a fantastic product and on Amazon it can be purchased at a considerable discount (compared to a vets office).

GREAT PRODUCT, GREAT PRICING, FAST SHIPPING, FRESH (not old or close to expiration).

VERY SATISFIED -- HAVE ORDERED TWICE WITH EXCELLENT RESULTS.Zymox Otic Hydrocortisone Free 1.25 Oz Bottle
Zymox as a treatment for chronic ear problems     On: 2007-08-23

Ive used Zymox before and it does help, temporarily, in relieving the chronic fungal ear infections which our 11-year-old Golden Retriever has had for many years. It doesnt claim to cure it, but must be used once or twice weekly once the initial daily dosage is completed. I just wish there was a way to stop these ear problems completely, but we havent found anything that will do that in nearly 11 years of treating the problem.
Zymox works     On: 2007-07-03

My vet recommended zymox for a horrible ear infection for my dog. The drug, like many other drugs, took a while before it went into effect. Once it did, though, I was quite happy with the results, the ear infection went away in a week or so. Later on in the year, another ear infection (or one that lay dormant) appeared and I used Zymox again. Same as before, the infection cleared (for now).
