Flea trap     On: 2007-09-01

The flea trap works well and will kill many flea with out spays or powders
Save your money and buy a night light!     On: 2007-08-23

With three cats and a dog plus two kids who cant seem to keep the pets outside, our house has been totally infested with fleas this summer. I had made a simple flea trap using a desk lamp pointing down at a low cake pan filled with soapy water which was catching dozens of fleas a day. When I saw these traps advertised I thought they looked like just the ticket and expected they would be a big improvement over my decidedly low tech job. So I ordered four right away.

Now Im less then impressed and plan on returning these today.

Yes, the light on the trap attracts fleas - you can see dozen of the little buggers milling around the each trap. But after using four of the Spring Star traps for two days, I have only caught a grand total of just one flea. That is one pretty expensive flea. And yes, I did remember to take the protective paper off the sticky paper and pointed the sticky side up. It just seems like the fleas cant find their way into to trap or if they do they simply arent caught on the sticky paper. If these traps are a vast improvement over the "old style" traps, I hate to think how bad the old ones were. I think Neil Young must have bought a few of these which inspired him to write "Piece of Crap."

What I have ended up having to do is spray the area around the traps and kill the fleas that have congregated around the traps. This is good as it limits the area I need to spray. However, I could have done this just as easily and much cheaper using a two dollar night light. Id say save your money and just get the night light first.
It Really Works     On: 2007-07-18

Im surprised that such a simple idea can be so effective, but it really works. Since I got this about 3 weeks ago, I havent noticed any flea problems, and this is the worst time of year for it. I will have to figure out how to change the sticky paper at some point!
Sticky Flea Traps     On: 2007-06-08

I had used a similar product some years back, and I loved it. But as time went on I couldnt find it in the stores. I was delighted to see one like it
for sale on the internet. I ordered two traps with refills and intend to
order more. All I can say is they work! On the day I received them, I planned to spray for fleas (I have a multi-cat household.) I havent
sprayed to this day. New users be sure you remove the protective paper, if
your brand has it, and make sure the sticky side is up (and plug it in!)
If you are not getting results, that may be why.

Extremely helpful, but you'll need to do more.     On: 2006-11-28

Fleas can be an annoying problem to have in your house. Theyre tiny, annoying little insects. Its a difficult problem to tackle, and you need to do so from several angles.

This flea trap is a big help in targeting certain areas of your home, particularly where your pets frequent. We set this trap up by the couch and there were a lot of fleas in it after one night. I was really impressed. You can move it to different rooms if you need to, and it has a nice long cord so youre not stuck near the wall. Definately a nice additions to your flea arsenal.

However, dont rely on it as your only means of tackling the flea problem. I found several home rememdies to use if youre not comfortable using chemicals and other artificial means. Mix 3 parts of borax and 1 part of salt and sprinkle it on your carpet and furniture. Wait half an hour and vaccum it off. The borax will kill any living fleas and the salt will dry out the eggs. Repeat for a week or two.

As for your animals, giving them a bath with a flea shampoo, or even regular dish soap. Just make sure you dont get it their eyes or anything. Combing also makes a big difference. Dunk the comb in a bowl of soapy water and swish it around to kill any fleas on the comb. If you find a few stuck in the teeth, you can use tweezers to pick them out and either dunk them in the water or burn them with a candle lighter. Be careful! Safety first! Watch for nearby flammables!

For yourself, I used a spray on insect repellent. Look for special tick and flea repellents in a store or online. Usually in the form of lotions, too. Avons Skin so Soft is helpful.

Using the trap and other methods, you can diffently make your flea problem much more manageable, or even non-existant.
Quite Satisfactory     On: 2005-09-08

Once I figured out I had to remove the paper backing from the flypaper for it to work, it really started snagging fleas.
Works Great     On: 2005-08-30

I do not have any animals in the house, but I had a flea infestation anyway [I suspect the previous tennant had a cat or dog in the house]. This product is great - it caught 9 fleas in the first 24 hours of operation! Hopefully this product will break the cycle and take care of my problem. I tried spraying my carpet with insecticides, but that was not 100% effective - hopefully this trap combined with a re-spraying will solve the problem for good.

Since this is a 3rd party seller, the shipping is not as quick as the regular amazon shipments, so check the shipping terms if you are in a rush to get your trap!
Good stuff but needed more help     On: 2005-07-05

Worked well but still had to use chemicals sprayed on floor to get rid of infestation--Also bought different one that plugged into wall outlet (Enforcer) that did not work nearly as well because fleas were unable to reach it except at bottom and one light stopped working after about 1 month but problem fixed by then
