After the confusing pet food recall I started doing research on dog food. To say I was overwhelmed by differing opinions - frozen, organic, heat treated, kibble, canned, salmon oil, whitefish, chelated minerals, blueberries, etc. etc. etc. I almost gave up on the whole idea of feeding my dogs dog food and instead just give them the same things Im eating, but I decided to try Steves real food - freeze dried chicken. My 3 different types of dogs all like the chicken and the beef. I then decided to try the variety of this brand which is raw food flash frozen. Besides the bags taking up a whole shelf in my freezer, the dogs love these too, especially in the summer months as it cools them off internally and they think its a treat instead of mere food, as they see it coming from the huge appliance that people food comes from also. Dogs are not dumb. They equate very well similar patterns. So, Im not saying this is for everyone but if youre trying to get a handle on what to feed your dog vs. what not to feed them and are at a stage where you want to throw up your hands in disgust at the whole situation of dog food, you may want to try this as a stop gap while youre figuring out what to do next and if your dog likes it, youll end up staying with it because its so simple to use. I wish they made the turkey freeze dried but this flavor only comes frozen.
