Im sure they last longer for only one pet. They can also be removed, after turning off the water filter, and rinsed well then re-inserted. I do this sometimes when I dont have time to change the filter and clean the water fountain, but I clean and change it as close to once a week as possible. Its been 3 weeks and I have not really seen any changes to the filter. The water flows passively through the system, but there is no force pushing the water through the filter per se. So Im not completely sure it is filtering, rather than just taking the path of least resistance around the filter. but cats are still drinking the water (albeit a bit less than initially) and still prefer it to fresh water in a bowl even after 3 weeks. The filters are more expensive in the stores...buy them at Amazon and save $. Great Product On: 2008-04-23This product is a great product! Ive heard mixed reviews, but my kitty loves it! It doesnt make a loud noise unless it is low on water, but it doesnt scare my cat. I would definitely suggest getting this product for your babies! Indispensable little item. Great for my cat On: 2008-02-18My cat loves the fresh flow filter and these replacement packs are great! No problems. Not what I was expecting/hoping for  On: 2008-01-21Our cats are finicky and greatly prefer filtered water over tap water (and our tap water is really fresh... straight from a nearby mountain). We thought this would be a perfect solution and would hold enough water to prevent us from having to set out multiple bowls while away. Unfortunately this product did not even come close to meeting our expectations. The filter doesnt seem to do a lot. Within a couple of days, the water is noticeably cloudy and after a few more days, the water becomes filthy and the motor begins overheating and making a loud noise which scares our cats. In order to keep this system working well, we have to add a large glass of FILTERED water daily (we only have two small cats!). In addition, we then have to unplug the unit every three days, and drag it over the sink, hopefully without major spills. At the sink we have to disassemble the fountain and clean out all of the parts, none of which are dishwasher safe, then refill three different areas, drag the heavy, constantly shifting unit back over to its home, again, being careful not to spill anything. The filters say they last weeks, but if we dont replace them every 1 to 1 1/2 weeks, the motor will shut down. After using the product for three months and going through 9 filters, weve finally decided to give up the battle and take it to a thrift shop. Changing the water in our cats normal bowl each day is much less of a hassle and despite it all, it seems our cats prefer their bowl with still water over their fancy yet noisy fountain bowl. Save you money!!! A complete waste of money On: 2007-12-17I have used this brand of drinking fountain for my dogs and cats for a few years. After seeing the dogs and cats lick their butts and then go get a drink of water, I decided that they really didnt need filtered water! Save your money and leave the filters out. Your animals wont care. Your pet may love it, but It is a Pain On: 2007-12-02I bought this thinking it was amazing, I was tired of always dumping the water, because my cat will not drink his water unless it is fresh. I thought wow a product that would make life easier. My cat loves drinking out of the sink, so i figured that he would like the constant flow. When I got it I really liked it. For the first 2 days it worked perfectly. it took my cat about a day to get used to it. It flowed like I thought it would and my cat loves to drink from the top where the water comes out. He likes the fact that it flows. I never see him drink from the bottom of the bowl. He has becomes spoiled from it. When the water gets low it makes a really loud sound, so I have to turn it off. When I do that he gets mad and meows for me to turn it back on. He only wants the fresh water that flows. I liked the fact that it would filter the hair and crud from his water. That is what I hate most about my cats water/ That was the main reason I bought this. The thing that I hate about this product is that it does not do that well with filtering the water. I am constantly having to take it completely apart to pull the hair from the suction pump. It is not to hard to do that, but it is a pain. It has the filter to change, which I change regularly. For some reason the hair doesnt even make it to the filter the filter never seems that dirty, but man does the pump always need to be cleaned. If you dont mind taking the product apart and cleaning out all the time Im sure your pet will love it like my cat loves mine. if I would have known this before hand i would not have bought it, but now my cat likes it so much I have to deal with the annoyances of it. Its worth a try if you dont mind the work. Your pet might really like it. It really needs a few adjustments to make it worth the money. Excellent Merchant On: 2007-11-01The replacement filters are an exact replacement for the item currently in use. The merchant delivered the item on time and it is exactly what I expected. Good Idea in Theory On: 2007-10-25After trying for a month; my cat still wont go near, let alone drink from this fountain. Unable to return it because it had been used, it went straight to the thrift store. A total waste of money. filter pet water fountain On: 2007-10-21It worked, but my cat did not like it. The water slides down, instead of floating down like a faucet. My cat hates it. The product does what is is supposed to do overall, like the product, just do not use it anymore. SUPER Item!! On: 2007-09-22This is a great product to have!! My cats LOVE the fountain!! The price of these filters on Amazon compared to the store are a BIG difference. On: 2007-02-06You wont find a better price on these filters anywhere. The water filter system is wonderful for my two cats who love drinking from the fountain. Much healthier for them than standing water in a bowl. Go for it, your cats will love you for it! Nice idea. On: 2007-01-12I definitely like the idea of my cats drinking clean water. This Freshflow works well - although it is taking my cats some time to get used to the constant flow ! They dont seem to have much of a preference between this and the regular, unfiltered water though. I think you would have to replace all water bowls with these for it to fit the purpose. |
