  Innotek Automatic No-Bark Collar, Rechargeable By: Innotek Average Rating: 3.5 Total Reviews: 70 More Information Big disappointment  On: 2008-11-16Item was shipped with sparse instructions. I thought the battery was dead because I couldnt make it work. After buying replacement batteries, I finally got the collar to operate, and it made my dog cry out, or yelp, making convoluted turnovers on the floor. He didnt stop barking, and was making such a fuss I couldnt take it - it was like he was being tortured. Item description at Amazon.com led me to believe features not included were included. Anybody need a used item with 3 extra batteries? More Problems  On: 2008-11-12We bought this collar in hopes that it would help our dog quit whining while he is in his crate due to separation anxiety. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt but really the only thing it has done is make our dog afraid to go into his crate because he doesnt realize it is the collar shocking him. If I had it to do all over again I think I would have bought a training collar instead where I have more control over the whole process. The collar can be very sensitive at times and at other times it seems to take forever for it to take action. We have a toy poodle and he is very smart but after wearing the collar for the last few weeks he has now started peeing in his crate in retaliation and he doesnt have a very big crate so we arent sure why he is doing this. He has been sleeping in his crate for the last ten months and his only problem was the separation anxiety, now I fear we may have created more problems for us to address and I dont even know where to begin! We have a weiner dog with a flare for all night long barking (at nothing) after the first night he wore this it was weeks before he started barking again and even then it took only one night to refresh his memory that barking is not allowed at night at our home... It took a month to receive it. I called after two weeks and the woman who answered was very impolite. She said it will take 3 to 6 weeks for delivery. It did not say that in the ad. Bark collar On: 2008-10-02It worked well, but I felt bad when it went off. My small dog would jump and yelp. I dont think it hurt her though. Good product On: 2008-09-29Our small dog used to bark at the TV, doorbell, and anytime we put him out side. Less than a week later he already stopped his annoying barking and doesnt need the collar anymore. Worked great. As far as the battery goes I had no issues with it and it still works. It is not a big deal anyway, you can find the battery at any supermarket. fast ship/worked great On: 2008-09-18The collars I orderd worked fantastic for my 2 American Foxhounds. I take them off in the evening as the probes are quite snug throughout the day. I put the collars in yhr morning when they first go out (I also have 3 other A.Foxhounds who are not as noisy), and always remind them not to bark. Some days there are no attempts to bark at all, so there is that psychological edge that they know what will happen. Very quick shipping.Very satisfied, now my daughter wants some for her 2 yappers! Satisfied. Its done the job! On: 2008-09-08I started using this on my roommates dog since it kind of a needy dog, and continuously barks to get what it wants. If I didnt know better I think the dog wants to train me. Upon using this neck collar, the dog has gone from a full blown bark, to a small yelp. Granted, we dont use the collar on all the time, but I have noticed a substantial decrease in the barking. There has been a slight skin irritation on the dog in the beginning, but its pretty much non-existent now. For me this collar worked like a charm and Im very satisfied with the results, specially for the price. Awesome product On: 2008-09-07This turned out to be an awesome product. My dog had slowely become out of control with her barking. I reviewed many products and decided to try the Innotek. Within 3 days she was trained. There is no unnessary barking now. If the need arrises now for her to have to bark it is a low tone neccessary bark. WOW... what a difference! On: 2008-08-30I cannot believe how wonderful this collar works. I have not needed to use the shock button but 2 times. She stops whatever she is doing when she hears the negative tone which makes me feel better about the collar. I worry that some people may abuse any collar that does not give you the option to have a negative tone without the shock. I also use the positive tone to reward her and she is responding very well to hand signals now. This collar is keeping my precious pup from digging and jumping the fence to chase rabbits. The fact I do not have to buy batteries makes this collar very valuable and if you are looking to Go Green this collar reduces the amount of wasted materials loaded into our landfills... Works great! On: 2008-08-25This worked great on our medium sized dog. Would highly recommend for all dogs who bark when left outside. Wish my neighbor would get one for his little yappy dog. Great buy, highly recommended! On: 2008-08-23I just purchased the collar for my doberman who has recently picked up the new hobby of constantly barking. My dog stopped barking on the first day! Worth every penny and my neighbors are smiling again. I didn't want to do it! On: 2008-08-17I have two barkers. One old Basset and one young Dachshund. The little one fantom barks constantly and the other fallows. If I didnt get it under control we were going to make enemies of all our nice nieghbors. Our Basset is also old and cranky and for some reason hates old ladies in hats who always want to pet him on walks until he would lunge at them and bark. The bark on a basset is truely worse than a bite! I started with a noise dazzer and that worked well for a couple months but eventally lost its effect. It works great getting cats out of my yard though! This fits my 16lb tweenie doxie as needed and my big saggy 60lb Basset for walks, and it works really great!!! They get a warning that just makes them sort of cock there head and go oh,no I better stop. They did get though all the levels each the first few times. They are stuborn and I cried the first day when they yiped. Mom is such a soft touch. I am glad now I have it, they learned quick and it wasnt too pain full. Everyone in town is happier, and they are making new friends. Product is not as stated. On: 2008-08-13Innotek BC-50B Free-Spirit Automatic No-Bark Dog Collar I ordered a rechargable item, but it is not. Furthermore, the battery that came with it lasted less than a day. Not sure it's working. On: 2008-08-05We bought this collar for our English setter/Springer Spaniel mix who loves to bark. It came with a CD-rom, an extra set of prongs (for longer haired dogs) and a battery charger, which we wanted. A red light illuminates when the collar is shocking or resetting itself as well as if it needs recharging, which we liked. The length of the black nylon collar is very long so you can cut it to fit. We also liked the fact the collar is water resistant too. We didnt think the bark collar was working as our dog continued to bark even after a week of wearing it so we called Innotek who had a very knowledgeable customer service rep. She advised us how to test it on ourselves and it did shock my husband so it was, in fact, working. However, our dog continues to bark with the collar on, especially if there is someone at the front door. I guess he just endures the discomfort. We were hoping for a miracle cure to his barking, but unfortunately, this hasnt been it. An additional word of caution: We bought this collar through an Amazon.com vendor because it had the best price. When we called Innotek (the manufacturer) for advice, they advised ut that the vendor was not an authorized Innotek dealer. I dont know if this would void the warranty or not??? Works GREAT but.... On: 2008-08-03The collar did an excellent job of correcting our terrier (noisy) puppy. However the battery that came with it died the first week and I found out the replacement batteries cost 10 bucks apiece. That added an extra cost to the "good price" I had gotten. It Works! On: 2008-07-31I bought this for my dog who barks at everything. Even dogs barking in movies I am watching. After I put it on him I took him outside where he does most of his barking. I heard him bark several times and thought it wasnt working although he did run inside. Later in the house he barked at a tv sound and after about the third bark he did a funny flip and ran over beside me. It does work. He now hesitates before he barks. I just got this last night. The one thing I would say is you have to know your dogs personality. My dogs are pretty compliant. They learn quickly so things like this work on them. There are some dogs who are very stubborn and refuse to learn. Observe your dogs personality and it will probably work for you. It is not cruel. It would be cruel to have to get rid of a wonderful dog over something that, with patience, can be controlled. Still Barking  On: 2008-07-28After reading all the reviews, I thought this product seemed great. Everyone said that they only had to use the collar a few times, and the dog picked up that they should not bark anymore. My dog just loves to bark; I know the collar is shocking him because he jumps and makes a yelping sound, but he continues to bark until the collar reaches maximum shocking capacity. When the collar is on maximum, the shock sends his 12 pound body to jump and convulse, and he makes a screaming sound that is very scary. As soon as I take the collar off (because this just seems like torture), he returns to barking. He barks at all other dogs, except for his friend dogs. This collar is a failure for my dogs barking issue. Peace at last! On: 2008-07-27I didnt want to buy zap collars for my 3 dogs but, after moving into an apartment and having a miserable failure with a ultrasonic device, I was left no choice...I even paid for overnight shipping I was that desperate. It was a little disconcerting seeing their initial reaction to being shocked but, man did they learn quick....its a pleasure now when I leave the apartment, I just put on the collars which is like a psychological device more than anything now, meaning "oh my collars going on, daddys going out!"...they dont bark at all now when I leave, and even without the collars, they bark so much less generally. All in all, I would give this product the big thumbs up, the only negative is that I think that the electrodes are a little sharp but, thats probably just me being a pathetic canine father :( Poor Quality On: 2008-07-07This dog collar worked for approximately 3 months before breaking. The build quality is poor and I do not recommend it for that reason. It works! On: 2008-07-01The no-bark collar is effective...its a bit cumbersome for my little dog to wear, but it is helping to teach her "no bark!" With Modification, worked for my JRT On: 2008-06-25This product worked, with modification, for my Jack Russell terriers barking problem. The collar was way too long, and when I trimmed it, it started to unravel. I eventually had to buy another better-fitting collar, and mount the device to it, by using a hole puncher. That worked. It is the only thing that keeps Berry quiet. I only use it on him when Im leaving to go to work. Without the bark collar, I would have IRATE neighbors. I do recommend buying extra batteries, if you dont have the rechargable kind. I had to change out the batteries this morning, and was glad I had the extra ones on hand. It's quite good, but.... On: 2008-06-12This product worked great from the start on my german shepard - I wish I had purchased it sooner. However, it hasnt been effective on my australian shepard. Perhaps its all the hair he has on his neck - I plan to clip him for the summer and hopefully it will prove effective. Innotek Bark Collar On: 2008-05-30This collar seems to work well, comes with good documentation, but if you have a barky dog, u have to recharge it alot. The rechargeable battery feature is by far the best selling point, making it much more economical than most other brands with the disposable batteries. The dog is definitely quiter, but if the dog does go on a roll barking, he can usually defeat the collar. Its worth the money, and works most of the time... Great product so far! On: 2008-05-30Got this for a little barking Chihuahua and it works great. He doesnt mind having it on at all and is able to sleep fine even with it on. At first using it he didnt like it, but since it adjusts automatically, it didnt hurt him. He was able to teach himself not to bark or whine within just a couple of uses. I would highly recommend this as a humane, safe and effective way to teach your dog. Excellent Training Aid On: 2008-04-29I was so hesitant to purchase this collar for my 4 year old dobbie. She was becoming a real bother to the nieghbors, barking all night long at every leaf that rustled in the night. I really didnt have any other choice. I tried bringing her in the house, she cried all night long. I tried putting her on a chain close to the house, she howled all night long. A shock-collar seemed to be my only hope to get some sleep and be able to do the same for my neighbors. I searched Amazon and other websites, and found this product, it seemed to fit the bill and looked the least harmful. It was and is. My dogs IS able to bark, and does when she needs to, and has become once again the favorite dog on the street. The battery did wear out quickly, within 3 months, but I truly believe that is becuase my dog has figure out the bark and shock levels and not due to an inferior battery! The intensisty of the shock raises with each consequtive bark the dog issues up to seven leves, but resets itself after one minute of silence. The battery is hard to find, you need to take it with you and go to a few stores before you can find it, but the collar is worth its weight it gold. It is not so powerful that is injures your pet. My dog WILL bark when she feels she needs to, but she has learned that barking for no reason is no longer worth it. I used to be against these types of collars, I now strongly recommend them, this one in particulr, for anyone that loves their dog but is having problems with persistant barking and has exhusted all other options. An excellent solution and an affordable option. Works Good ! On: 2008-04-25Have a large shepherd and six pomeranians. Works great for all. You have to keep it tight. Use the long prongs. this thing works! On: 2008-04-07I have purchased 4 other bark collars ranging from Citronella to sound and they all suck compared to this one. I would never buy any other brand and the fact that this collar is rechargeable is huge. I used to burn through batteries in less than a week. No more batteries and no more barking...a double wammy!!! Finally some peace and quiet On: 2008-04-05I was a little leery about getting this since my trainer was against it. However, my dog does a lot of phantom barking and its extremely annoying. When I first put it on, he yelped at the higher shock, but was much quieter and calmer for the rest of the night. Its taking him a while to realize what wearing the collar means but Im hoping I wont have to put it on him much longer. Training miracle On: 2008-03-03I was very hesitant to purchase this collar. I spoil my dog very badly. He is another child. I was very much afraid this collar would cause him pain or traumatize him. I relented and purchased the collar when neighbors were complaining about my pugs barking. After several short periods wearing the collar when I was present, I would put the collar on when I was leaving or when he was in car. After only about two weeks, Journey learned not to bark. He no longer needs to wear the collar. I just made a 500 mile car trip with him and he didnt bark once while not wearing the collar. This has been a minor miracle. The collar uses escalating levels of shock. My pug never required more than the second level, to my knowledge. The first little zap was enough for him to learn. I would encourage any individual struggling with a barking dog to investigate and give serious consideration to this collar. I would caution that small dogs may not be the best for this particular collar because the length of the collar may pose a tripping or tangling hazard. My pug is about 16 pounds and when on there was a significant length remaining which I tucked into his harness to prevent any difficulties. the end to barking On: 2008-02-23Received collar and after setting up sent our dog outside. Only took about 3 barks and she decided it wasnt a good idea. Works great and almost has totally retrained her not to bark. Wonderful product and I know my neighbors like it too. Bark Collar On: 2008-02-18THE COLLARS ARRIVED FAST AND FUNCTION PERFECTLY. THE ONLY ISSUE I HAVE WITH THESE COLLARS ARE THAT THEY ARE TO BIG. I HAVE 2 SMALL DOGS AND THE COLLARS I BOUGHT ARE VERY LARGE FOR THESE DOGS, i EXPECTED THEM TO BE SMALLER. THEY STILL WORK! Don't do it ... On: 2008-01-23I tried this on two different dogs and go the same reaction. Yipping and cowering in a corner. I do not have the heart to watch them suffer. Some say their dogs learned instantly .. mine learned to be fearful of the collar and it just seemed to change my one dogs fun and loving personality over night. After a few days of trying to use this - it went back. I will take their barking any day over hurting them. I am not kidding you... On: 2008-01-15I wish I had bought two of these, maybe I still will. I just bought one to start with because I didnt want to spend a ton of money on two things that didnt work. Anyways...right out of the box I was satisfied. Within a day, my barking dogs have stopped!!! I have two labs, one of which is pretty stubborn and he even stopped after the second bark. I resorted to this collar because their barking was getting out of control. I swear, you would let them outside and it became a competition of who could bark more! Even with one collar, it stops both of them from barking because my other dog gets bored because she has nobody to bark with. Then I made a little louder noise and with the collar on my neck...IT WORKED...lol. On: 2008-01-09I have 3 small dogs, two doxies and one peke. The dominant doxie would get the other two barking like mad. When she was in bark mode nothing would stop her and Ive read and watched Cesar Milan (who I still love!) and tried so many techniques. Being very tiny, she could go thru almost any fence in our neighborhood and bark at squirrels, people in their own yards, whatever. She would not stop, would not come when called. She was in danger of being hit by a car because she would run down the road barking at passers by. I tried the citronella collar but the batteries ran out quickly, were expensive, and she wore the collar out in a short time. Ive had these collars for a few months now, the batteries are still working, and Im happy to say that my problem is finally SOLVED. The dog does not roam and run away from me when I call now that she cannot bark maniacally at whatever she pleases. She is a sweet dog but the barking was like an obsession with her! I highly recommend this product if youve had similar problems. Works wonders! On: 2008-01-07I got this collar for my mini dachshund (14 pounds). The box is a bit big proportionally to his body, but it does the trick. The first time he tried to bark with it, he made a horrible sound, but I think it was from getting scared more than anything else. He doesnt dare bark with it on anymore and it only took 2 or 3 times of getting buzzed before he realized that barking is not for him. Hes also much calmer with it on and doesnt have to wear it more than a few minutes at a time, generally once or twice a day. A great collar to get that does the job without you having to spend $100+. Recommended! Not Good on Large Breeds On: 2008-01-07This collar is not strong enough for my large breed Border Collie. She continues to bark and bark. I see the collar light up with each bark and it doesnt even phase her. I thought maybe it was because she was so furry, so I shaved the part of the neck when the contacts were, but it didnt make a difference. Who knows, maybe it would be better on a smaller dog. Works well, but has a strong shock On: 2007-12-27This collar works, but the dog screams after barking. Then the scream sets off the collar -- she is smart enough to stop screaming, but I wish there was a milder setting. This is the third brand of collar I tried, and the only one that works -- but I wont use it unless the situation is extremely bad with people in fear of the dog, because I hate to hurt the dog so badly that she screams. On: 2007-11-10We bought this collar for our animal shelter rescued American Eskimo who barked ALL THE TIME. By barked all the time, I mean he barked and kept barking for 10 minutes or more. He barked at us, he barked at the other dogs, he barked at the cats, he barked at any noises inside or outside, he barked whenever someone walked in the door, he barked while he played and he barked in his kennel. The worst part was when he would start barking at 4 in the morning and not stop till we let him out at 8. For two months we tried everything we could think of, and everything a certified trainer could think of... with absolutely no luck. The day I got it I rubbed in against a hard surface and touched the tips. I did that several times (to get it to go up as high as I could). It startles you a lot; it really doesnt hurt, even all the way up. If you do that yourself, remember to take out the battery so that it will reset down to the lowest shock level. It takes a couple of hours to reset itself back down, and taking the battery out and then putting it back in will restart it. The first day I put it on my dog he barked up to the 3rd or 4th setting before he gave a yelp and stopped barking. It was the kind of yelp he does when he is rough housing with the other dogs; the yelp that says "okay, you win, I give up" NOT "Im in pain". We used it every evening after work and through the night... for about 2 weeks. Now we might have to put it on him once a week for a couple of hours, just as a reminder. He almost never barks in the house anymore, and when he does it is just one bark and he is done. Periodically throughout the week when he is quiet (like when we walk in the door and he doesnt bark at us) we walk over and give him a treat, to reinforce the good behavior. I think the product is great. I dont usually like products like this, but there are some dogs that just wont learn any other way. We rescued our dog from the animal shelter and his bad barking habit was already drilled into him... this was all we could do to fix it. Once your dog learns what happens it shouldnt take very long for him to realize that barking is not good... then just reinforce the good behavior when it happens. Hope this helps. Good results and humane On: 2007-11-08My wife and I both tested this on ourselves before we used it to train our dogs. The level of stimuation is similar to the "hand buzzer" joke toys. Dogs like to be good. This stimulation is far more humane than all the accumulated "Bad Dogs!" they would have gotten while we tried to train them out of thier natural behaviour. It works pretty fast too. When the dogs were trained we removed the collar. When they reverted to barking we put it back on. Now we just have to show it to them and they quiet down. amazing... im astonished On: 2007-10-02I was so suprised to see how well this thing actually worked. i tried it on myself first, and it really isnt so bad. its like one of those hand buzzers, only actually more suddle, i think. but it is suprising. i didnt think my six year old cocker spaniel would actually stop, because he is one DETERMINED barker. but hes really turned it down a notch, (and its only been a day!) and i love that the collar doesnt make him stop his cute little talks, just the loud unessecary barks. its great! its not inhumane, its just a surpirse that catches them off gaurd. worth the money! and a great training tool! Poorly constructed, Not good with large breeds On: 2007-09-21I purchased two of these collars. I have a couple of labradors each about a yr old, the collar stopped them from barking right away, however they were curious about the others collar and easily popped the top casing off of these with one bite. When I returned from a 15 min. trip to the store I found both devices were in pieces. What a waste of money............ I have an older rechargable collar from Inotek that was bulkier but very sturdy have used it for over 3 yrs wish I could find another one of those. Not all that effective for an avid barker On: 2007-09-13My dog barks with little regard to the collar until it sets itself to the highest level at which times he barks in a higher pitch. He will stop briefly until the collar resets to a low level at which time the process starts over. It is too hard for my husband and children to endure therefore use of the colar has been suspended. I will be looking for another product because the barking is a big problem in our house. Micro No-Bark Collar by Innotek On: 2007-08-13If you cant be there to train your dog, like while away at work this collar works well to teach your dog not to bark. For those with small dogs (IE 10 pounds) this is still a great product and is sized nicely and the collar fits well. Battery Dead On: 2007-08-06While this product may or may not work great I received it with a dead battery so I have been unable to try it out yet. In addition it uses its own proprietary batteries so you have to order them online. Electronic Stimulation is Electric Shock On: 2007-08-05Dogs need to be trained not to bark - hire a trainer. "Electronic Stimulation" is a euphemism for electric shock. It hurts. Its inhumane. There are no quick fixes. Just as we need to work to get in shape, we need to work with our dogs to stop the barking. It takes time and effort. We also need to manage the environment. It is more effective and more humane to work with a trainer who can teach you and your dog how to get barking and being quiet on command control. You also need to control your dogs access to windows and other sources of stimulation. It takes time and energy but is the only fix for these problems. Both shock and citronella are ineffective and really not kind. Theyre a quick fix that doesnt work. Remember that these behaviors have been going on for quite awhile so self-reinforcing before we owners actually make a plan to effectively change behavior so it will take a little while to see improvement. Be patient and do the work. Just like getting in shape as people, there are no shortcuts. I know its not easy -- I had the same problem with my sheltie. Only training worked. Shes fine now. I also dont let her by the picture window when Im gone. Electronic Stimulation is Electric Shock On: 2007-08-04Dogs need to be trained not to bark - hire a trainer. "Electronic Stimulation" is a euphemism for electric shock. It hurts. Its inhumane. There are no quick fixes. He would sit outside and bark a very high pitched, excited bark, at everything - all day long. If I went outside, hed be quiet, but who has time to sit with the dog all day?? When this collar arrived, I put it straight onto the dog. He barked about 5 times, figured out he didnt like the result and has been quiet ever since. Hes also alot less hyper than before. I suspect if I take the collar off, hell remain quiet. But if he starts up again, the collar will be put right back on. Excellent product! He would bark and bark non stop for hours.He was pretty bad in a lot of other ways too, but the barking was a killer. We where all pretty fed up!!!! My mom & I wanted my dad to take him back to the pound. I suggested trying this collar as a last resort. When we first put it on him, he barked like 10 times and nothing happened. Then he got shocked. I felt really bad. We left the collar on for like 10 minutes(he only got shocked once). We had to put it back on the next day when he would not stop barking. That was the last time we had to use it. He barely ever barks now. He is also a much better behaved dog. If he starts to bark or bites or grabs something from the trash all we have to do is say COLLAR and he stops barking, or whatever else he is doing bad. He is a joy to be around now. The first few barks and resulting corrections surprised her so much she now knows that if we put the collar on her that she doesnt want to bark and life is much quieter now. Even suggesting that we put her collar on now has an effect! My only concern would be that the correction could be a bit too strong for more sensitive dogs. The instructional dvd was very nice to have instead of just paper instructions. Works well, but . . . . . . . On: 2007-01-03I give it 2 stars instead of one because when it does work, it works great. It shut that dog up better than a newspaper. However, it only works for about 6 hours and the battery is dead. A replacement battery costs $5.00. I contacted the manufacturer and asked could I upgrade to the rechargeable model. For some odd reason, I was not allowed to. They said they could only replace the one I had with another just like it. I took it, thinking maybe something was wrong with the one I had. I received the other one and had the same problem. I called the manufacturer again and after considerable consultation behind the curtain, they agreed to the upgrade for another $50.00. I have had the rechargeable one and it works ok but needs recharging within a couple or three hours. Also, it seems not to pack the punch that the battery unit did. With the battery unit, all you had to do was show it to the dog and it would go quiet. Though I have looked no further, Im sure there are more efficient products out there. Ive already spent $100 so I cant afford further experimentation, unless its with a bullet. Bark Free On: 2007-01-03I have a small dog and this product seems to work very well. I wish I had found it years ago. Invest in a better product On: 2006-11-29This product claims to auto correct the dogs barking... But it does not. My dogs behavior did not change at all. In fact the collar began to shock him when he was not even barking. I was then sent a replacement product that did the exact same thing. My poor dog was terrified of the collar after being shocked repeatedly for no reason. I would not recommend this product to anyone. I LOVE IT! On: 2006-08-13The collar works flawlessly for my dogs. It takes about a week for the dog to figure out that the collar is watching them at all times. Just put it on when you know theyll bark and watch it work. Notes: If you leave the collar on while theyre outside, take any tags off the main collor. If they knock up against the housing, your poor dog will be punished when they hit the housing hard enough. Battery wears off quickly after a heavy barker uses it for awhile. This is the only reason for the 4/5 stars. As for the other review saying it doesnt work, they have 2 options. 1, knock it up against something while holding the prongs to figure out if its really working or if the LED is just going off. Im a firm believer in trying something out on myself before I use it on my dogs. If you get shocked, you understand how much it can hurt. If you dont, you know its not working. I have a feeling the 2nd option is the real issue with them... Trim the hair back on long-haired breeds and TIGHTEN the collar down. If its not connecting on both sides, its not going to work folks. I use this on a Lab/Germ Shep mix and a Jack Russel mix and as long as you tighten the collar right, it works flawlessly. Worked then Stopped Working On: 2006-04-26I purchased two of these collars in desperation, as my neighbors threatened to call the police. They seemed to be working well in the beginning and then all of a sudden within about 3 months, they appeared to stop working. Both my dogs, a collie and a sheltie-shepherd starting their barking again. I changed the batteries, cleaned the prongs and called the company. My answer from them was that maybe the dogs learned how to get around the shocks. I do not understand this. But I feel it was a waste of my money and I am now back to square one. might as well flush your 60 bucks... INNOTEK COLLARS BEWARE On: 2005-10-22I just want to let you know that I bought a collar at the pet store to help my dog from barking so much. The dog I have no more...... The collar was on him and it went off for no reason and would not stop the red light didnt even come on...... I went to try to disconnect the collar the dog was screaming in agony and guess what took a chunk out of my hand I shook my hand he went to the floor and went for my leg and gave me a good bruise where he tried to bite me. He was baby and my guardian. It scared so bad he is gone now. Had him such a baby I couldlnt walk and he was very protective of me he was really hurting that day. I just want to let you know the collar go off at any time. I called company no symphothy from them but thats ok Im not done. I called the place I bought it from they already removed them from the shelf and want to know in a week or so if Ive heard from the company I think to see what kind of people there like so heads up beware. Best of Luck Even more barking than before! On: 2005-10-04I purchased this collar out of sheer desperation. Our dog had alienated us from nearly all of our neighbors with her incessant barking and was showing no sign of stopping. I tried the citronella spray collar and it had worked for a time but my dog figured out that it would eventually run out of juice and she could bark at will. This collar did not stop her barking from day one. Within a day or two I began to notice that she would start barking, then briefly stop, then she would attack or bark at whatever was near to her. It was as if my dog thought that whatever was close to her was causing the shock rather than the collar. She also apparently made no connection between her barking and the shock. After three weeks of using the collar with no change I began to hear my dog make pained howling noises from time to time after barking. After this she would bark even more at whatever was close to her. After a month, what finally made me give up was the horrible howls my dog would make from time to time. I am not convinced that this is not unduly painful to dogs and I defintiely dont believe it worked for my dog. My dog is a German Shepherd and has a large neck with loose skin. The electrodes on the collar are about an inch long and 1/3-1/2 inch thick. If your dog does not have a sturdy neck it will probably be painful just to wear the collar. The manufacturer recommends tightening it down to the point where you can only put one finger under the collar. This drives the electrodes into the dogs neck a bit. If your dog is stubborn like mine, they may just not get it and keep on barking. After I gave up on this collar I went back to the citronella collar. I dont know if it is because of the new batteries or the time off but it works like a charm again. I recommend the citronella collar a lot more highly. Cheated On: 2005-06-04The seller charged me full price and sent a cheaper collar. I specifically wanted the rechargeable batteries and I was sent "replaceable battery", a cheaper and undesirable version. |
