Quite simply the best     On: 2008-09-20

Advantage for cats is a great product and Amazon had the best price at the time I made my purchase. There were other vendors who were cheaper but they werent selling the USA product. My vet cautioned me about using the product that was produced in other countries and then imported. They may be as good as the real deal or they may not be -- I dont want to take a chance with my little girl.
advantage for cats coming from Amazon     On: 2008-08-16

what can I say? I ordered it through Amazon, it was cheaper, worked better than Frontline, and cat is still flea and tick free, and there are no problems, and I saved about $20. I only had to click one time on amazon, and it shows up, I put it on the cat. All told it couldnt have taken more than 10 minutes from ordering to flea free cat. I guess this is a review and comment about the total ease in using Amazon.com. Will certainly use again. Thank you.
Great price for this product!     On: 2008-06-19

Ive used only this flea treatment since it was first introduced. It really gets rid of fleas . . . fast! Its safe for the cats and very convenient to use. I have one indoor and one indoor/outdoor cat. I treat the indoor cat less often because fewer fleas are brought into the house by the in/out cat. I recommend this product over all the other flea products out there. Amazons price cant be beat!
Nothing but success     On: 2008-06-17

Weve used Advantage on our cats for 11 years and have had nothing but success with it. In fact we very often go much longer than the 30 days between doses and still tend to remain flea-free. We strongly recommend Advantage.
Pricey, but good!     On: 2008-02-26

This is THE stuff for fleas. Its easy, quick and long lasting. I feel it lasts longer than 30 days at certain times of the year - cooler months. It costs, but its well worth it. Amazons price is the best Ive found so far.
Life without fleas!     On: 2008-01-13

It is nice to have a cat that is not leaving flea "residue" around the house. Being able to save a few books was appreciated very much also. Weve used Advantage before and know that it works, but it can be a bit price for those on more restrictive finances. The best part is the value of the product keeping your pet flea free.
So far the only one that works     On: 2007-12-30

I have two cats and live near other people with pets. Between that and the warm climate, fleas are a major concern, and Ive suffered through multiple infestations. Ive tried almost all the anti-flea products available, and so far Advantage is the only one that gets rid of fleas within 24 hours and keeps them away for a whole month. Ive also found the application of Advantage to be less invasive than the others, since the small tube doesnt scratch the cats skin. And since its such a small amount to apply, theres less chance of the cats managing to rub it off themselves before it has a chance to work.

The only complaint I might have is that I wish it were less expensive. But even then, it compares favorably to Frontline in all respects. And its definitely better than any of the cheaper stuff, none of which seems to have any effect whatsoever. Perhaps in the future Ill find something better, but until then Ill stick with Advantage.
price is right!     On: 2007-12-11

I use advantage on my 2 cats and its expensive - so I had been using an australian online source, till I found out that might not be the same formula. SO I now order from amazon and it arrives quickly, and the price is not much more than I was paying befoe. Thanks amazon!
ADVANTAGE REMAINS THE BEST FLEA....DESTROYER!     On: 2007-12-04

Unfortunately, my Maine Coon Cat is allergic to flea bites and she has suffered SO much. I HAVE used Advantage on her before, but this time I needed to take her to the vet and they gave her a flea bath AND shaved the afflicted areas. I will continue to use Advantage Purple Box for Cats 10-15lbs EVERY MONTH without fail. Its been four months and she has not suffered at all! In my opinion, Advantage is THE flea killer. Frontline doesnt EVEN come close. IT WORKS!
flea prodcut     On: 2007-11-10

I tried Hartz flea product for cats with little success.
I used a Raid flea spray on the bedding and carpetand treated the cats with Advantage. The Advantage took a week or so to work but cats are significantly better- occasional scratching but much better.
I have never tried frontline but plan to use advantage in one month for their second dose.
It works     On: 2007-11-05

We have been using this for many years with our two cats and it seems to work well without reaction for them (female long-hair domestic). We are going to treat them again this year (30 days after first treatment) just to be sure but really the problem seems to be gone already.
Works     On: 2007-10-01

I have always used Advantage on my cats & dogs. My 2 cats have been trying to get outside all the time this year every time we open a door. So they have gotten fleas from sneaking outside. I do not see them scratching anymore & they are still sneaking outside when they can!!!
Advantage 4 PK     On: 2007-06-27

I thought i would order this online since i didnt have time to get to a pet store when i was working from 8-8, well almost 4 weeks went by and the product never came. After i called eventually the product was delivered, by that point my house was already infested with fleas. wouldnt order this online again.
Frontline Didn't Work     On: 2007-02-06

I used Frontline on my cat for several months. It simply didnt work. Switched to Advantage & have been flea free since.
It worked better for me than frontline     On: 2006-11-10

I had the exact problem the other reviewer described with frontline. My cat was scratching himself raw. I applied frontline (I looked in local pet suppliers, and bought the frontline when I couldnt find Advantage)but it never seemed to help. After a 2nd application, the fleas subsided for about a week and a half. That was it! Im back to Advantage now, and my kitty is much happier.
Works for about 5 days     On: 2006-07-08

Yes, Advantage will kill the fleas that are on your cat now. But it doesnt keep them flea free for 30 days like it claims it does. I tried it three times on my cats. After about 5 days, they were back to their usual biting and scratching, and I was back to picking fleas off of them. I finally tried Frontline for the time, and its been about 3 weeks and I havet seen a single flea on any of them (I have 7 cats). I havent been bitten once since I put the Frontline on them. Dont waste your money on Advantage, buy Frontline.
Does not keep them flea free for 30 days! Try one week!     On: 2006-06-06

If youre cat is an indoor cat, yes this product will work well for you. But if your cats go outside like mine, FORGET IT! Yes Advantage kills fleas that are on your pet immediately. But it does not keep them flea free for 30 days, like they advertise. Ive tried Advantage on my cats a few times. The fleas that were on my cats did die within 12 hours. But within ONE WEEK they were biting and scratching again like before. Im picking fleas off of them after only a week and a half. If the product wasnt so expensive, it might be worth the money. But dont waste your money, because it only works well for a few days.
Advantage almost killed my cat!! Dangerous product, BEWARE.     On: 2005-12-30

I used to use advantage on my two cats, and on my labrador retriver, and at first it worked very well, got rid of the flea problem quite efficiently. No wonder. This is because Advantage is a volatile poison and will kill pretty much anything - or anyone - who ingests it; pets, humans, and fleas alike.

One day I used Advantage on my big, healthy, happy manx cat and was horrified to see him stumbling around, vomitting, and almost paralysed a couple of hours later. I had noticed that my dog had a reaction to it as well, she was acting listless and wouldnt eat (this is a dog who will eat ANYTHING!) but it was barely noticeable and so I just brushed it off and continued to dose my pets with Advantage. Then when my cat started vomitting and walking sideways I finally realized this product was poisoning my cat. I brought him to my vet who advised that Advantage was not a safe product, but that it "definitely gets rid of fleas". Yeah, well, maybe it kills fleas, but it also kills animals and humans. I would very definitely never use this product around children as it causes neurological problems and may make them very ill.

Please, do yourself and your pets a favour and DONT USE ADVANTAGE ON YOUR PETS or in your home. Now I use a pyrethrin based shampoo on my animals (now consisting of two cats and a rabbit now since my dog passed away several years ago) and it works wonderfully. Also, I should mention that pyrethrin is a natural product, its derived from Crysanthemum flowers (pyrethrum species).. in fact, if you buy the right species of flower you can grow them on your windowsill and make your own homemade sprays and shampoos. Personally, I find it more convenient to buy it, but growing them yourself might be usefull for green thumbs out there.
Advantage Works Better for Us than Frontline     On: 2005-12-16

Every cat is different, but I agree with the previous reviewer that Advantage seems to work better than Frontline. We noticed our cats fur was smoother and softer within just a couple of days.

In the spring, we also get ticks, so the solution weve come up with is Frontline for March, April and May, then Advantage for the rest of the year. JMHO, I also think rotating the two products keeps it working better. If your cat is a mouser, itd be a good idea to get a wormer too to keep the tapeworms at bay. We use it twice a year (once in early summer and the other just before Thanksgiving). Our cat has gotten used to a pill shoved down her throat twice a year, but good luck to the rest of you!
Second to none     On: 2005-10-18

My cats have fleas! Or, at least, they had fleas. I have used over-the-counter, less expensive items (flea powders, flea collars, etc.) up to and including other topical products like this one, and nothing worked. The flea collars were less than worthless - they actually caused patches of fur to fall out on at least one cat. The powder was unwieldy, and the other topical applications (save one) did not work at all.

I must give credit where credit is due - I have used Frontline before for my cats, and have been very satisfied with the results from that one. However, I decided to try Advantage this time, as Id heard good things about it, and it was on sale at a discount when I needed it. I couldnt be more pleased. Unlike most other topical applications where the flea substance is put on the shoulder blades of the cats and stinks (STINKS!), this has no easily discernable smell.

This is a good thing. Also, the cats seemed to settle down from their scratching and biting at fleas within just a few minutes. Last night was the first night in weeks that the cats have all rested peacefully. There were no signs of flea-dirt left in their usual sleeping spaces last night. I am very pleased indeed.

My cats are also happy. While I still have an appreciation for Frontline, I am happy to have Advantage as a viable alternative.

The cats give this a sixteen-paw salute! (Four cats, four paws each, you know...)
