It took my dog a couple of car rides for him to adjust to the booster seat, but know he just jumps right in it when I open the car door. He wouldnt want to be seated any other place! I wish it would be available in real leather though. Perfect! On: 2010-06-20This was the perfect solution for my 5.5lb chihuahua. He loved going to do laundry with me just so he could sit on top of the full laundry basket and look out the windows.. so I knew I had to get something for him. I looked at a lot of them but most were overpriced and I wasnt going to spend a fortune just for my dog to see out a window. I just bought this one last week so I cant speak to its durability yet, but the second I put him in it, he was so happy. He didnt even try to jump out, so I doubt Ill need to hook him in. Im recommending my mom buy one for her little dachshund also. Great booster seat  On: 2010-06-14We bought this pet booster seat after seeing it in a friends car and we love it. It keeps our dog safe and comfortable and it fits nicely between our two car seats. I would recommend this for small dogs. When he is tired he curls up into the soft seat and falls asleep.Outward Hound Small Pet Lookout Car Booster Seat, Black 3.5 stars...good product but maybe a little impractical On: 2010-04-07The idea of this product is great: Keep your cute little dog clipped in to a comfy little area in the car but high enough for her to see out the window! And it keeps them in the seat next to you to keep you free of distraction to drive! So that being said, here are the pros: -easy to assemble -easy to affix in the passenger seat of your car -safety clip to clip on to your dogs collar - although in my opinion, in a car accident I think this may actually be a little more dangerous than safe because if there is enough impact, the dog could fly over the edge of the side and then be uncomfortably hanging there - not as detrimental if you have a harness, but surely a choking hazard if your dog has a regular collar! Or if your dog is REALLY small! -comfy for the small dog and seems study to hold their weight (my dog is <5 lbs...) -little dog can easily see out the window while seated -keeps you hands free of your dog so you can actually do some driving! Cons: -Would you really give your dog priority in the front seat if you had someone else in the car with you? This seat doesnt make sense to have if you regularly have someone else in the car with you. It is annoying to keep unclipping and clipping back to your car seat if you have to do this every other day. -Again, in a car accident, this may not be that safe for those smaller dogs clipped in, especially with a regular collar as opposed to a harness. -When my puppy was still her puppy self and didnt like collars or leashes, she would twist herself around and get herself caught up around the safety clip - this was frustrating because sometimes I would actually have to stop to untangle her! This problem was relieved when she was used to a dog harness and leash as she was older. So...as cute as my dog was in this seat and even though it is a great product, it is now useless to me because I do not find it convenient to keep clipping and unclipping this seat to my car because I have someone in my passenger seat every few days at the very least! Great Idea! On: 2010-03-29Having one of these is such a great idea. Our dog likes it, and we dont have to worry about him moving around in the car. He no longer tries to get in my lap or my wifes lap while were driving, which was always a problem in the past. I highly recommend this booster seat for pet owners. Its made much better than some weve looked at in the past. He loves it. he can finally see outside and he travels much safer. A Neat Seat for a Little Pup On: 2009-12-31I purchased this seat for my Yorkie-Poo pup. When she is full grown she will weigh between 10-12 lbs. It was immediately apparent that she would not fit comfortably in the seat when she is an adult especially if I want her to be able to lay down in it. So I returned it and got a larger size. If you are considering purchasing this car seat, make sure you get it big enough. Unlike other reviewers, I found the seat easy to install. I use it in the front passenger seat. When I need to use the seat for a passenger, I simply unhook the belt that wraps around the seat. I leave the belt that goes around the headrest attached and move the seat so that it faces the back. I also bought a fabric harness that I keep attached to the seat. This makes it safer for my little pup. I travel a lot and look forward to using this seat as our puppy grows up. Not bad, for the price. On: 2009-12-08I got this for my Chihuahua, Bruce, to use when I transport him to work and back (he goes twice a week). Before, he would run around back and forth in the back seat, nervous and excited. Initially he hated the seat. He kept trying to jump out (successfully). I even considered sending it back. We just kept trying. After about 5 or 6 times he finally relaxed and figured out how nice it could be. Now he stays put, is able to see out the window and seems content. I would have given this product 5 stars, but the construction is kinda flimsy and I foresee the need to replace some of the hardware in the future. But for the price, its really a pretty good deal. Not nearly as flimsy as some of the other ones out there. For instance, my mom has the Pet Lookout Small Car Booster Seat, Black and it barely held her dog, it was so flimsy. Thats why I initially got this one instead. Great booster seat! On: 2009-12-06This is a great seat for a great price. The removable cover makes cleaning a breeze. Its small, so make sure you get it only if your dog is a small breed. Fits my Yorkie perfectly. Awesome booster seat for dogs On: 2009-11-30This booster seat is exactly what I needed. It was easy to put together and gives my little girl a view of the world around her when she is riding in the car. My Pom can now see!!! On: 2009-11-19The seat is perfect and my 5lb Pom fits in it perfectly. She can lie down with no problem. It was easy to assemble and I didnt even read directions. It fits my car seat just fine without the seat having to be straight up/down. Even with standing in the seat she couldnt see outside. Now she can see! I think the views are a bit scary right now because she looked around briefly during the ride but was probably overwhelmed so she laid down in the bed for a while. She would occassionally peek out. Im just happy she has an option now. Great product. Booster Seat  On: 2009-11-15I ordered the seat from Amazon.com because I love the fast service and the free shipping. If you dont like it for any reason or its not what you thought it would be, it is easy to return. Our chihuahua loves sitting in the seat because he is able to look out the window. The only thing I would change is if the padding was thicker and not able to come off easily. The dog scratches to make it soft and the fur inside comes off in clusters.I put a pillow inside, then a blanket to make it more comfortable. Its good if the dog just sits up and looks out the window, but not a lot of room to lie down and be comfortable, even for a 6 pound chihuahua. I have a larger seat that holds 2 small dogs comfortably, even to take a nap, but the standard size one was just too small for even 1 dog. Great product On: 2009-10-04Having a small dog, we were very nervous about the danger of hitting the breaks and having her go flying into something so we purchased this dog seat. I am very pleased with it. It was very easy to install into the car and our chihuahua loves it. She goes into it without any complaints and usually curls up and falls alseep. Its also nice that you can remove the lining to wash it very easily. 5 stars because my dog loves it and I don't have any problems with it On: 2009-08-11The installation is kind of confusing at first. The instruction manual is not that detailed, but it doesnt take too long to figure out how to set it up. I have a 5lb chihuahua. She was scared at first, but now she loves it. We actually put a tiny pillow inside so its more comfortable to lie down in there (It is kind of deep. I guess this is no problem if you have a bigger dog). The leash in the back that keeps your dog from jumping seems fine to me. Just buy a collar that doesnt go around the neck (buy the ones that go around the legs and neck). This will prevent your puppy from choking if s/he tries to jump out. The length is adjustable. Hope this review helps! Always put on a collar for your dog before using the booster seat! If you dont, it will defeat the purpose of buying one. Nice but small On: 2009-07-23This item is a nice product and works well for now. The description states that it holds dogs up to 12lbs which I find hard to believe. Maybe if your dog sits upright the entire time they might fit, but they def not be able to lay down. My cavalier king charles is 4 months old and 5lbs (i posted a picture of her in the seat) She always lays down and sleeps during car rides, and just fits when she lays down in her new booster seat. There is no way she would be able to lay down comfortably if she was at 10lbs or even 8. I love the fact that I can use this in the backseat which is what I was looking for. I know I will end up getting a bigger one prob in the next few months, but this suits my pup fine for now. Very easy to put together and install, took about 10 mins total. My Dog Loves It! On: 2009-07-02My 3.5 lb. yorkie loves his seat! He always waits by the passenger door of the car for me to strap him in. He loves looking at all the cars and buildings as we pass by. Only thing, he likes to chew on the security strap that attaches to his collar. Ill need to find a replacement soon. Before I purchased the car seat, he sat in my lap(which was very dangerous for both of us but especially for my little "Jasper"). My friends think Im crazy for having a "doggy" car seat. I dont care, because it keeps him safe! No complaints here! On: 2009-06-20My Sheltie puppy was super restless in the car for a week from when I got her until I got this car seat. She was everywhere, crying, trying to get my attention, etc. Miserable. She usually ended up scrambling up to sit on my shoulders or else Id hold her in one arm. BAD, DISTRACTING, VERY UNSAFE for both of us. Now she rides pretty happily in this car seat, even though she constantly looks at me for reassurance. Its stable enough now, but then she only weighs 3 lbs. Dont know yet how it will be when shes heavier, and also I CANNOT see a 20-lb. dog fitting in this little basket! Youd need a shoe horn. I do think for the price its a decent product, I have no regrets. This company makes an extra-large size, when Guinevere grows too big for this one I wouldnt hesitate to try the bigger one. car booster seat for dogs On: 2009-05-30my chihuahua loves it, she can see the outside from the inside. definitely recommends it to other people when safety is an issue. Never did receive this item.  On: 2009-04-22I never did receive this item. I finally called this company one month after I was supposed to receive the item and they said that the booster seat came back after they had sent it. Then they did nothing. They did not resend it nor did they call me nor did they refund the money. Then the person stated that the item was out of stock now. After all of that I then told him to forget it and refund my account. Highly recommended! On: 2009-03-19I LOVE this seat! Im so happy I have one. I have a chihuahua/min pin and he fits perfectly in it. Only thing, he likes to chew on the security strap that gets attached to his collar. So I need to find a replacement soon. And he likes to shred the fur on the seat cover, so I put his blanket over that way he can chew on his blanket instead. Some friends think Im crazy for having a doggy car seat. I dont care, because it keeps him safe! Works great! On: 2009-02-17Its easy to get into the car. I do recommend a harness of some kind so the doggie wont "hang" itself if it tried to get out. Put plenty of treats in the basket to make it a fun place to sit. Fits in the front or the back (as long as the backseat has a headrest). Comfy and perfect for little doggies. GREAT PRODUCT! On: 2009-01-08Reading the reviews for this pet booster seat convinced me that I should make the purchase. I have a 5 1/2 pound maltepoo that goes everywhere in the car with me. This seat allows him to see out the window and keeps him safe at the same time. On long road trips, he curls up and goes to sleep in it. Everybody that sees him in it comments on how cute it is for a puppy. I also purchased the harness(sold seperately)but you can just attach the clip to your dogs collar. You will not be disappointed. Good product; recommend the "deluxe" version instead On: 2008-12-31My dog loves, LOVES these seats. I have the paw bruises to prove it - all I have to do is open the car door, and she LUNGES for her special seat. I can barely get her back out of the car sometimes! As far as user-friendliness, it isnt the absolute easiest to set up and take down - it would be better if the diagonal braces clicked or velcroed into place - but its fine once its set up. However, I cant recommend this particular model with the fuzzy fleece lining. It looks all cozy in the photo, but it really doesnt feel very nice... plus, little pieces of fuzz were always getting stuck in my dogs eyes. The quilted lining that the deluxe model comes with is much better. Great for Small Pets On: 2008-08-26This product was easy to assemble and to properly set up in my car. All straps are adjustable and seat can easily and quickly be transferred between vehicles, or stowed in the trunk when not in use. Safety strap was slightly too long to prevent my dog from hopping over the edge and getting stuck dangling there, so I tied a knot in it to shorten it further than the adjuster would allow. I would recommend using the safety strap in conjunction with a harness, rather than a standard collar, to prevent strangulation whether from the pet putting themselves in a precarious position or from vehicular accident/ roll over. All and all, very satisfied with this purchase. Great Car Seat! On: 2008-07-24I had a really bad habit of letting my small dog ride in the car on my lap. I changed that after a camping trip a few weeks back where we saw a dog being scrapped off the road after the car got a flat tire. The bed of the truck... loose in the car... or riding on your lap are all super dangerous places for your dog. I dont know the crash test ratings for this seat, but it is easy to use and I feel better knowing that Im doing the best I can to protect my little buddy. The only problem Ive had with it is training my dog to sit there now that weve already established the bad habit of letting him ride in my lap. But he has plenty of room and I think he really likes being able to look out the window. It sits up high on the seat so I can have my bag or what ever I need on the passenger seat underneath. The seat straps to the passenger seat (or back seat if you have the kind that folds down) with 2 adjustable straps and there is a strap that connects to your dogs harness. PLEASE use a harness, not a collar because if you got into an accident, the collar would likely choke him. I chose this seat instead of one that uses the seat belt because I felt it would be safer. Its very sturdy and I know it was one of the best things Ive done for him. I highly recommend this seat. Just do it sooner then later or you have to deal with breaking old bad habits. My dog is a 5.5 lb toy poodle and he can sit, lay down and turn around in the seat. My BiBi loves this seat! On: 2008-07-19Not only does my Chihuahua, BiBi, love this seat, but so does her brother Yorkie, Oscar. If I take only one dog with me, that baby gets this front seat. If both Oscar & Bibi are in the car... the one who goes for the short bone (tossed on the floor) gets to ride in it. I swear that they would yell, Front seat - Shotgun!" if they could talk. Pros: Keeps dog safe and tethered. High enough so that smallest dog can loook out of car. Cozy insert for warmth in winter. Keeps dog above air bag danger. PRICE - I have paid much more for oth less pleaseing doggie car seats. Cons: When wooly insert removed for summer, I wish there were some padding on front bar. My Chi, BiBi likes to snooze with her chin on it. Could use a 2nd tether since seat is big enough for 2 small dogs. Im going to get a short Y lead. My only reasons for a 4 instead of 5. Great Product! On: 2008-07-11My dog is a 5 1/2 pound Yorkie. Prior to getting the seat, she would sit in the passenger while I was driving. The only way she would stay still was if I was petting her the entire time I was driving. She also would put her paws on the console between the passenger and driver seat so that she could look out my window. She was terrified of the car seat when I first got it, but as soon as I put her in it and began driving she loved it. It easiely fits onto both the front and back seats of my SUV. The leash can be shortened enough to where she cannot jump out (and frankly she does not even try to until I unhook her). My dog loves to be able to look out the window and I love the fact that she is able to sit safely in my car. My dog is also comfotable enough to sleep in the car seat. The lining is easily removable for cleaning. If you have a dog, though, that is over 10 pounds, I would probably get the larger version of this seat. I know that the recommendations are for dogs up to 20 pounds, but I do not think that this seat would be a large enough size for them. My Dogs Love It On: 2008-06-29I bought this booster seat because I wanted a safer way to transport my dogs. One likes to sit in my lap while I drive and this is not safe. She now sits in her booster and can see out the window and still go places with me. She would rather sit in my lap, but at least travel is safer for her. My other dog likes to sit in this booster because she can see outside and still see me. She is close enough for me to pet her and she likes the safe feel on the enclosed sides. Im glad I bought this booster - now I just need another one so both dogs can travel safely with me. Love it! I have never tried any other seat so I have nothing to compare it to. The one thing I hat most is the fact that it doesnt sit straight unless the seat is straight up and down. This makes it impossible to have a good fit in the back seat. The leash that is used to connect the dog is too long. I would never leave my animals unattended in this seat since they could try and jump out and hang themselves. If you have a very calm dog that will likely lay down and go to sleep then this seat is a good idea. Also the seat size is a little small for my 5 pound chiuahua. He can sit but not lay down. My 12 week old Min Pinscher fits very good but she is tiny and only 3 pounds. I dont think I would buy another. |
