We bought this crate for our 50 pound, very strong bulldog puppy. It is perfect! Having two doors is a great option, and it is so easy to put up. This is even better than I had expected, and for the price, it is better than any crate I could find in the stores.

The Crate is great . Midway is a very good company. It was easy to put together. You basicly unfold the sides it for a box... It fit nicley in my condo living room floor. It houses a boxer puppy of , now , 4 months , nicely but see that I should have maybe oppted for a size larger~ because he is out growning it quickly and predict that by the time hes 6 - 7 months I will have to get a larger one.

This crate is great i am replacing the one that got damaged in the Hurricane. I older three year old dog started peeing on the floor when we got longer hours at work so we needed to crate her again.

I bought the bowl bed and crate combo.

Do make sure of the size and color if the bed you want before you just order you have to make sure you get the right size bed. Cause the size does not match. Other then resizing the bed before ordering everything came great.

I will say the things that stick out that everyone seem to be talking about you can remove them and store them if you dont plan on moving the crate. My dog enjoys her crate and i have always enjoyed life stages crates.

The crate is of high quality materials and was easy to setup. The divider isnt the easiest thing to use, but is nice to have. The latches on the doors seem secure, but an excitable dog can easily open them. We have walked into the house only to find the dog on the couch a few times. Carabiners can be used on the doors, but may not be enough to stop all dogs.

The size is great for the price, but my package arrived heavily dented. It was hard to set-up, and some of the sides dont seem to hinge together very well. So far, my dog hasnt tested the limits of the crate, but I fear one day I will have to add zip-ties to the corners to keep it from collapsing if he ever decides to try...

This crate has worked perfectly for our Goldendoodle that had grown too big for her previous two crates. It is easy to assemble, take down, and I like the fact that it has two access doors. We purchased the 46" version of this crate for our Golden Retriever puppy. Delivery was faster than expected at ~2 days. This was great since lack of planning had us ordering the crate about 6 days before the puppy was coming home and Thanksgiving in the middle of those days.

The crate setup easily. One panel was slightly bent, ~1/4", at the bottom of one of the end panels. This prevented it from complete locking together in that corner. This hasnt proven to be an issue at all, an if becomes an issue a zip tie or 2 will fix the issue.

The divider panel has worked great for making the crate smaller for our little puppy. At first I made it too small and he was happy because he couldnt lay down and look out the end of the crate toward our Family room. Quick adjustment and he now happily goes in there, with a bride of peanut butter in a Kong. At 10 weeks old and 3 weeks of training he will go in on the word "kennel", but still expects his prize.

Definitely a recommended buy, and especially from Amazon. Even with $23 in frieght it was still $30 less expense than buying a similar unit at the local PetSmart or Petco.

The Midwest lifestages double door crate is well made, and our new puppy adapted to it right away. We havent needed the second door yet, but look forward to having the feature for traveling. The crate is sturdy, and the double slide lock system makes the closing very secure.

Ordered from Amazon on 12/11/09 recieved it on 12/15/09, that was some speedy delivery. The size I purchased was the 42Lx28Wx30H. very easy to snap together. folds down flat for easy travel and very sturdy. My dogs took to it as soon as I opened the door to the crate. Great product. Well-made. Would definitely recommend this for any medium-sized or smaller dog. I ordered the 36" crate, and it was too small for the 52-pound dog I had, even though it is rated for up o 70 pounds.

We just received this crate this week for our 5 month old lab/boxer/border collie mix. She immediately stretched out in it and was so comfortable. She had outgrown the smaller one and looked so cramped the last time she used it. I love how easy this one is to setup, instead of hooking things here and there and needing more than two hands, this one is so simple to just pull up - and conversely to fold back down. I would have never taken apart the old one to take it somewhere - this one would be a snap! I also like the two doors, makes it easier to place it in tight spots if necessary!

After much searching for a crate for my dog I decided upon getting this one. The price was excellent (Especially since Petco had a crate similar to this for over $115!) and the product is very well made. I purchased the 30" one and I was worried about the size since some websites recommend this size for dachshunds, but it is the perfect size for my 35 pound Aussie and he loves it! We got this crate for our 19" tall (at the withers) Harrier. She is about 50 pounds and it fits in there comfortably. Very easy to assemble and it comes with a divider in case you have a puppy. We have not traveled with it yet, but the way it came packed was quite promising. We recommend it.

Recently purchased since this is a back up primarily for travel and because the puppy is a laid back mini aussie (I hope - time will tell). Otherwise, the metal gage would not be strong enough. I had a 36" Titan Crate I purchased from Costco last year for another dog I fostered, and the quality was much better (sold it). I used to lay a heavy fleece pad on top of the crate and use it for storage of toys, etc., but no way on this one. The Titan is $80 (comes with nice crate pad so really about $55). That was a consideration but the number one reason I did not purchase another was because it is too heavy for me to move around by myself (twice the weight). This one is a breeze but the reviewer that said handle can break is correct - one side fits great and the other by the door is too thick so just a matter of time. Amazon does have best price for this crate in the store or online.

This dog crate was delivered in perfect condition, assembled in 5 minutes maybe less. Cheaper on Amazon than Petsmart where we first saw the crate, even with the shipping. Very durable, love the 2 door access, the standard size rectangular dog beds fit perfectly in the bed. It worked beautifully in potty training our very active puppy. Now we use it only at night and on an occasional time-out. Love the handles on the top which makes it easy to maneuver around. Like the double latch on the doors as well (just in case). Very good product.

It is a perfect size for my golden retriever. The size can accommodate the dog bed we already have. I had a debate with my wife before buying this item whether to get a cheaper one made of plastic or this one. Lukily we got this one. With a good airflow, there is no bad smell when open up the crate. You can see your puppy from different side. It is easy to remove the tray for cleaning.

I am very happy with the two 48" Midwest Life Stages (dbl door) dog crates. The dogs love their new "homes" and the product is everything it says it is. I certainly want to recommend this product to every dog owner. The crates are very easy to unfold and set up. They are big but so are our dogs (Beaucerons). Would not be able to fit these crates in my car but that is not a problem as the dogs are used to (long) drives since they were puppies and it is not necessary to have hem in a crate. The dogs are in them every day. Its their "home" in our home. Only at night we close the doors in case they decide to chew on something fun (being under 2 yrs at times their puppy behaviour returns). Great value! Certainly a "best buy"!!

I did not think I needed two doors, but when I set it up I realized it would be best against a wall and now we use the door on the long side! Bought this for my beagle mix, and its a great crate. The size is just right for him (hes 35 - 40 pounds). It is also nice to have doors on both the end and the side of the crate, making it easier to fit in the house in numerous places.

This crate is perfect to set up in the home as well as for travel, folds down easily to slide into the trunk and is easy to reassemble as well.Removable tray bottom is easy to clean if there are any accidents. Well, this is my second crate (a replacement) and Im not pleased with the quality (AT ALL). The first crate was bent due to shippng and the new crate door hindges are not tight. The puppy scrathes at the door and the latch comes slidding across making it possible for him to get out when he is home alone. Also the crate has these latches that stick out next to the tray and are very annoying, things always get stuck on them, i.e. shoe laces, cords, tripping hazard!. They dont fold up and stay there. These are the latches to hold the crate closed when you are traveling or to fold the crate up and hide it away somewhere. The price was nice. But sometimes, you get what you pay for. I would not buy this product again. Nor would I recommend a friend to buy it either. I only kept it because it is a hassle to take this thing back to the post office to return it.

If you are trying to keep your dog from peeing or pooping in the house these are probably the best crates to buy. Its convenient, and works. We started by blocking off part of the crate for our mini schnauzer when he was a puppy and 3 monts later we have opened it up to full size. He knows when he goes in there that it is bed time, and he wont use the bathroom inside of it. It has helped us tremendously. I highly recommend this product for these reasons. Plus having two doors on the crate makes placement in your house a breeze.

the midwest crate is both sturdy and well made. it is extremely easy to assemble..but i actually had a problem with it. one of the hooks just got jammed a bit. they had a helpline to help with assembling it and once they lady explained to me which one to unhook, it took just 2 minutes. (sometimes during shipping one of the hooks can jam). the helpline picked up quickly and was helpful.

for the size of the crate, i think this is the best deal. my dog has grown too big for his old crate. he loves this new one. i keep a towel in it and a water bowl and that ll suit him just fine.

This is amazing!!! This crate fits TWO Scottish Terrier dogs! The two Scottish Terrier love this crate as their quiet time spot and like to sleep together in this crate at nights... The crate folds up together and down flat in a second. Very easy to use! Shipping was fast and right on time!

This cage is a lightweight but sturdy cage. Built right with high quality materials. The doors work great and with the addition of wheels as an option, it is very easy to move around. Watch out for smaller dog feet getting caught in the openings just below the gates. I have added a piece of solid plastic below both doors so cover up the openings in the wire so the dogs feet dont get caught when the dog is entering and leaving the cage. I would certainly buy another one the next time I am cage shopping.

We bought this from Amazon for our newly adopted 1 year old beagle mix. She is 25 pounds and its a good size for her, she can stretch out in it. The cage is well constructed, easy to set up and take down if you need to move it. Weve had it for over a month now and have had no issues with it at all. Looked at other less expensive versions of this crate locally. The 50% off sale price plus the free shipping on a Midwest brand was too much to resist. Even with the potential return hassles. I am not disappointed. It may end up being a little bigger than what we ultimately need (shepherd/retriever mix puppy isnt quite 8 wks old yet) but I dont care. Knock-offs that I looked at were very close but Midwest seems to carry the quality just that little bit further. Locking levers dont stick. The walls are stable. The divider pretty easy to adjust and solid when put in place. The 40" crate is heavy. This one will be a permanent fixture in the master bedroom and used at night. Im ordering the 30" as a daytime house training/SUV travel crate for these early puppy months.

Our Boston Terrier had outgrown his original crate and we wanted one he could stretch out in. This crate is perfect, and he loves it. We crate him when were sleeping or away from home, but leave the crate door open when were home and awake. We have a nice cushion in it, and quite often he goes in on his own just to take a nap. Hes very happy in his crate.

I have a Chihuahua and the 36" version of this crate, which seems like a mismatch at first. But its the only thing Ive found that can contain him.

First, I tried an indoor/outdoor pen -- Midwest Black E-Coat Exercise Pen with Ground Stakes, 24"W x 30"H -- that was 3 feet tall, but he climbed over the side within 15 seconds of going in. Then I tried a solid-side baby gate that was 30" tall -- Safety 1st Perfect Fit Gate -- but he could jump over that. Then I tried an extra-tall baby gate with vertical bars only, so there was no chance he could climb it -- Summer Infant Sure and Secure Extra Tall Walk-Thru Gate in White -- but he could wiggle his 5.5-pound body between the bars next to the doorframe. This was a shame because the Summer gate was my favorite of the options Id tried so far.

The dog had a small plastic crate in which he sleeps, but I hated to leave him in that all day when Im out. The large version of this crate was the best solution because I can leave him with a pillow and blanket, food and water, and his favorite toys. He has room to play but is contained, and hes never had an accident in this crate. I like the fact that the crate has doors on two sides so youve got convenient access, and the latches on the doors are secure. The wire construction prevents any doggish smell from building up like you might have with a plastic crate.

My only complaints are minor. Its heavy and awkward to move in its fully open state, so you wont move it from place to place on a whim. And although the slide-out tray on the bottom makes for easy clean-up, its easy for the dog to slip it out, too. When my dog wrestles with his blanket or toy, he works it with his paws in a digging motion. When I came home yesterday afternoon, hed worked the tray half out of the crate so that he was standing on carpet in the back. Its not hard to block the tray in, but its an extra step to remember.

I recommend this crate. It provides a good, secure play area for a small dog.

This is a great product. Our Pug Puppy "Rebel" (5 months old) loves his house. He already grew out of the first crate I bought him which was much smaller and not as sturdy.
This crate gives Rebel plenty of room and it can be sectioned off with an included wire wall, if need be. The construction is superb, and its very sturdy. It has 2 fully opening doors so cleaning is very easy.
I would say that I saved 35 to 4o% by purchasing this on Amazon.com as opposed to Petco or Petsmart, and I got free UPS ground shipping included the deal. I srongly recommend this product and Amazon.com

The crate I bought is of good quality. If you have a overly active or aggressive dog. I would recommend a little better quality crate. However, even with a hyper dog that is at least 40lbs. This product holds it own. It comes with 2 diffrent doors and folds flat for easy storage. I would recommend this product to anyone.
Double Door Dog Crate Gives Options     On: 2009-08-14

For those who crate their dogs, crate placement is always a factor in any furniture arrangement. I have 2 Standard Poodles (they are size of a typical large dog, about 65-70 pounds,) and recently purcased 2 of these crates.
The 2 door crate Im reviewing here gives more placement options because one door is on the long side and one is on the end, as they typically are.
Also, if you have 2 smaller dogs or are dog-sitting for a friend, the crate can be divided to house them.
This crate is not very robust, but strong enough considering larger diameter wire would hamper portability.
Price is fair for this size crate, but not a bargain.

This product is sensible, sturdy, inexpensive and easy to put together. The pans are easily taken out to clean for accidents and if youd like to travel the smaller ones have a handle while the larger ones may be folded up to fit in your backseat. The double doors allow the crate to be situated to fit your living space. If you have an SUV or a large backseat the doors allow easy access in and out of the crate for your dog. This product has worked for me for almost ten years and I recommend it to all pet owners. I LOVE it!

I got this for our husky mix, to house train her. It worked fine until I came back one day to find she had broken out of it. The crate is collapsible and the method of securing the walls when erected is a little weak. All our dog had to do to get out was to pull the wall towards her and the thing popped out.

That said, I fixed this with a couple of zip lock straps on each wall.

We bought the 42" crate for our black lab. He weighs about 100 lbs and had far outgrown his previous crate that was only 34". We decided to get this crate because of the price and because of the option side or front doors. It feels very durable. The pull out tray liner is really nice as well. These crates usually go for $100.oo or more so to find it for almost half that with shipping included was a steal. Im familiar with the brand and its well made, durable and dependable. If youre not familiar with this type of crate they fold almost flat for easy storage and transport. The bars are all coated with damage resistant plastic/resin to prevent rust and damage and there is a durable slide out plastic tray to contain any liquid spills inside the crate.

Pleasantly surprising little extras:
-Divider which can be inserted to shorten the crate and allow a puppy to grow into its adult size crate rather than buying a small one and then having to upgrade to a larger size when they get older.
-Sturdy carrying handles for toting the crate.

I have a less than flexible 36lb 10 year old Bagel (Beagle-Bassett mix) and he fits very comfortably with plenty of room to turn around and stretch out. Ironically, this crate is too small for a large full sized Bassett Hound and probably a touch big for a small beagle.

The cage is easy to assemble and also conveniently folds down for easy carrying. However, the cage needs modifications if you have a large, energetic dog. My dog (lab mix ~50 lbs) was able to push the door out and bend it down in order to get out. I had to zip tie the sides together so that was not possible for him to do any more. Also, the cage comes with two handles that you can put wherever you like for carrying it. One of them broke one me because I was trying to put it on one of the wires that was too thick for it. So make sure you are careful when you are putting those on.

This crate has been really great for me and my GSP. I just started showing my pups so I break this down and set it up a lot (almost every weekend, both days). The plastic handles for it broke with my abuse but I didnt really want to use them anyway. I really like this crate and want to order another soon. This fits just snug and perfect in the trunk of my 1995 Lexus SC400.

The crate is well made and exactly what we expected. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the plastic pan tends to slide out to the side from under the cage when my dog moves around. This could be easily fixed with a tie-wrap, though, but if there was a built-in latch it would be perfect.

This is the first time were using a crate for a dog, but we just adopted a 14 month-old shelter puppy and she was gnawing and pooping her way through the house. We decided against a plastic travel crate because we want the puppy to have lots of ventilation in case the power goes out and it gets warm in the house while shes crated. This had great reviews and the price was right. It was easy to put together and the two doors gave us alot of options regarding where to place it. Shes 35 pounds and we chose the 36lx24wx27h which fits her just fine with enough room to grow but not enough to want to soil the floor. We also picked up the Midwest Stainless Steel Snapy Fit Water and Feed Bowl. We were very hesitant about crating because our other adopted dogs were older, didnt need to be crated and if felt cruel to pen her up, but were glad we listened to the experts. Were moving cross country and needed a roomier way for our two cats to travel. The kennel fits perfectly in the back of my station wagon and has enough room for their covered litter box, food and water dishes (clipped on the crate rails), blankies, toys, and room to stretch. They will be more comfortable than in their cat carriers. Naturally theyll be wearing harnesses and collars with identification. We will put them in the kennel while we are loading and unloading our belongings to ensure their safety. We were looking for a new wire kennel to replace one we had for over 15 years when we were getting our new Sheltie puppy. This kennel was perfect. Although, according to most sizing charts, we should have gotten one size smaller (we got the 36") this is a good size and the divider panel works great. We started the living area for the dog small and, as he has grown have moved the divider back as needed.

The wire used is sturdy and the spacing between the wire is fine. Although our puppy can put his nose and paws through the wires he wont get stuck doing so.

When you get the kennel out of the box save the box. You can and should cut a piece from the box and place it between the wire and the bottom panel to deaden any noise of bottom against the wire.

The only thing I miss is access from the top. The top of our old kennel could be unlatched (that is how it folded), which we could do to put things into the kennel without opening the door, even putting the puppy in. This kennel does not have any access from the top. Nevertheless, we have trained our puppy to enter the kennel with no problems and he will go in on his own to play.

I got my midwest 36" crate very fast. Its very easy to set up and take down again. The plastic pan insides edges are not flat like I thought, so if the dog makes a mess it shouldnt spill out of the crate.

When I set the crate up it was larger than I expected. The side door makes it convenient to put the crate in a corner sideways and save some space. With the divider in, the side door wont work. For how large it is, the crates not really an eyesore and I live in a small apartment.

This is the perfect crate for our puppy. We bought this crate because it has two doors (better flexibility for locating it around the house), but most importantly because of the divider panel. I had purchased this same item 2 years ago at PetSmart -and boy was it costly! I searched online and found this one at almost a quarter of the price I paid for the first one! Also, before you purchase a crate you would be well advised to read customer reviews on them -Thank goodness I did! My Lab/Retriever/Newfoundland puppy would have bent the wire on the Life Stages crates now at PetSmart! The customer reviews had complaints about that, so I kept looking for the exact one I already have. I couldnt be more pleased with the product -the divider that comes with the crate is priceless! As my puppy grows and learns that the crate is his "den" I can allow him to have more room. I use the divider in my first crate to separate my 2 dogs now -the puppy and dog get along well, but the puppy has "messed" in that crate without the divider because there was so much room. So with the divider in place, both dogs can be crated happily in one crate in the living room, and the second one is for the puppy at night in the bedroom.
Rigid Liner Tray Material Leads to Excessive Noise     On: 2009-03-04

This is my first review so please bare with me. I felt compelled to write this review because of all of the positive feedback which ultimately influenced my decision to purchase this kennel. Well, the feedback coupled with the discount price...

We have 2 dogs, one which is a bulldog puppy and the other is an adult boston terrier (very small). We wanted to get a second kennel so both dogs would be in a similar size kennel since the adult is already well trained.

Much to our dismay, this kennel seemed pale in comparison to our existing kennel which was purchased a year or two ago from a local national pet store for just a few dollars extra.

The metal wire on this kennel seemed to be far less thick which meant it was completely unsuitable for the bulldog puppy. It is about the same thickness of a wire hanger which black enamel paint on it.

Really, the worst part was the hard plastic liner tray made it unlivable for the smaller dog since it seemed to magnify even the slightest movement on it. For example, we would hear TAP TAP TAP all night long as the boston terrier moved during her sleep. It was so loud that we could hear it throughout our house.

Additionally, the liner has a rough texture to it. I assume its to prevent a puppy from sliding around since they do not tend to have rough paws. But with a small mature dog, it was absolutely impossible to listen to the scratching on the surface all day and night.

In contrast, our existing kennel had more of a rubbery plastic liner. The fact that it was more pliable meant that it absorbs most of the sound and either dog can move around in it without much noise at all. The rubbery texture also meant that it could be smooth while still providing some grip for the dog.

So you are thinking, why not just put a kennel mat inside ?? Well we did, and the noise actually comes from the tray tapping against the bottom metal wire. To solve this problem, we want and purchased a roll of some padded shelf liner. The liner costs approximately $8. So when you add the cost of the liner plus the kennel plus the shipping, we could have gotten a quality kennel locally for the same price. Not to mention the sleep we lost trying to figure out how to solve the problem.

We are very pleased with this dog crate. Though it is fairly large, so is our golden retriever. This 42" crate fits her well. She is able to sit up (her head barely touches the top) and able to stretch out when she lays down. She spends many hours during the day in this crate and it gives her room to move around and not be so confined. Having the side door is nice when we have to situate the crate in a different location and using the end door may not be convenient. The side door also allows me to access the back of the crate to retrieve toys without having to crawl in from the end door. Though the kennel is a bit bulky and a little heavy, it folds easily if you need to move it to another location. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase and would recommend it.

I bought this crate for my new mini-schnauzer puppy specifically because it came with the divider wall and has two doors. The divider wall allows me to create a smaller space for my puppy so that he learns not to poop where he sleeps. Its working just as I planned (and read about). Of course he has had a few accidents, more my fault than his, and this lead to about 30 minutes of cleaning the crate. There is just no good way to clean an item like this other than gettin it done. I would bring this crate on a vacation for my pet to sleep in but this is not an every day travel crate.

My dog has been using this crate for about 2 weeks now. The instructions were easy to read and the crate was easy to assemble. It only took about 5 minutes before it was ready to go. It is well built, and seems very sturdy.

The only reason why Im giving this a 4 instead of a 5, is because the bottom latch on the front door is not very easy to operate, I have to lift up on the door to get it to latch properly. The other 3 latches all operate with ease. That being said, that is only a minor issue, Im very happy with this product.

I saved about $20 by purchasing it from Amazon versus in the local chain pet store. Very happy with this product.

I needed a large crate that can be easily packed up for travel and this is it. I took it out of the box and had it ready to go in about 10 minutes, 5 of which were reading the instructions. I have two Shelties who are inseparable, but dont want them cramped up for crate time and this is just so roomy and nice. My only change would be to open one of the two doors from the right instead of the left because of the way I use it but that wouldnt affect most other people. Door on the side, door in front, I can actually manage the two babies separately through these. Love it.

I use this crate for my 60 lb lab (1 yr old) and have been very happy with it. Sturdy construction; easy to set up and break down. It is relatively easy to carry, but the carry handles can be gotten to from inside the crate if left attached while your dog is inside...which means I no longer have any carrying handles.

Pan slides out for easy cleanup.

Side door gives you some flexibility in where you place the crate.

MUCH, MUCH more convenient than the old wire crate I had that did not fold up--taking that apart and putting it back together was a ginormous PITA.

Our dog used to actually eat a hole in plastic kennels. So I decided to get a metal one. This crate is super. Because it has two doors, it is easier to decide where you want to put it. I have ours in the knee hole of the desk we dont use.
Also, the dog loves the crate! At bedtime we tell her to go to bed and she does just that. She is a miniature Daschund, and she has so much more room to lay out in this crate. Also, she can see what is going on around her.

We used this to keep 2 puppies full-time in from the age of 3 weeks up to 5-6 months and part-time now, when they are 8 months old.

I have no major issues with the cage. It was relatively easy to unfold, the wires are strong and the 2 doors are most convenient. They allowed us to set it up in a such a way that one door was open against a regular dog house while the other door was the exit. This way, our 2 puppies had a 2-room apartment with the crate as the dining room/living room while the dog house was the bedroom. It worked well.

The only issue I have is the bottom tray. While its convenient and allows for easy cleaning, the plastic is quite thin and, eventually it cracked. We are still using the crate and the dogs return to it to sleep at night - with the door open - but... the tray IS cracked and I expect it to completely fall apart within a month or 2. When that happens the crate will have no floor and well have to think of a solution.

This crate is wonderful!! Having 2 doors is a great idea. It is large enough for my 6 year old Basset Hound to move around and be comfortable. She goes in willingly and sleeps through the night with no problem. It is very sturdy and there is a divider that can be used if you have a puppy that will adjust the size as the pup grows. No need to buy different sizes--this one will work for puppies as they grow into adult dogs.

It is a snap to put together and folds easily for storage or travel. I would definitely recommend this crate to everyone.

You get exactly what the product description says you will get. It is a sturdy product and pretty easy to set up. Youll need to wiggle and push some bars into place for the initial set up but once everything is in, the crate is good. The handlebars up top make it easy to move around. It is a bit heavy, but if it were any lighter, the integrity of the crate would probably be compromised. I like how my dog is able to see in all directions. Being able to see his surroundings helps him to feel more calm and comfortable. At night, I drape a sheet over part of the crate to create that "cave-like" feel that helps him feel cozy and sleep well. Overall, I would recommend this product.

We purchased this crate for our Flatcoat puppy. I was attracted to this crate for the double doors and the divider panel. I also liked the fact that it folded open easily. The removal tray is fantastic and great for cleaning.

Our last crate had awful corner pins that never went in correctly and once together the crate was flimsy. The Midwest Crate has been perfect for our growing, rambunctious puppy. Its very sturdy and handles his very active jumping against the doors. The only downside is the divider panel is a bit tricky to get in and out but once in, is as sturdy and the outer sides.

Were getting a second Flatcoat puppy and Im ordering another crate for him!

This is the first time we ever tried to cage train one of our dogs and we chose the Midwest Life Stages crate to do just that. It is very easy to assemble and the extra wall to make the inside smaller for your puppy is a wonderful idea that really works. The odd thing that we didnt expect is that our Rocky loves to go into it to rest without us forcing him to.

It has front and side doors for easy access and is fairly lightweight. This cage is definitely a good buy considering that the price of cages in the store versus Amazon is much higher in many cases.

Not much else to say about this crate other than it is a must buy and it well worth the money.

I have 2 Yorkies (one is about 1 yr old, 4 lbs; the other is 4 mos old, 1 lb). This cage is absolutely perfect for them. I love that it has a divider, so I can make the area inside the cage as large or small as I want, to fit the size of the dog. (Right now, for the littlest puppy, I only give her about 1/4 to 1/3 of the cage... the perfect size for her because if it was any bigger she would urinate in her cage. I use the other 3/4 to 2/3 to put in the older puppy when shes been bad... and thats the perfect size for her.) There are 2 doors, which is helpful too. This cage has been extremely helpful for training purposes, especially potty training for them. I would suggest purchasing a soft pad for the bottom of the cage too, something snuggly with a little padding, to make it more comfortable for your dog.)

I selected this crate after a lot of research. I keep it in my living room for my min-pin & miniature schnauzer so I needed a crate with a side door. Even though I keep my two dogs in it, I dont use the divider panel that it came with because my dogs like to snuggle together. The size is perfect. A lot of other crates were too narrow. I also wanted one with the traditional front door as well in case I want to move it to a different location. My dogs love the crate! This crate was very easy to set up & is very well made, not flimsy at all. I also really like the black enamel finish. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because the crate has these hooks on the bottom below the side door that stick out which is kind of a pain when I vacuum. It would have been much better if the company would have designed these to snap in place out of the way when the crate is assembled.

Great product. The crate arrived earlier than expected for which I was grateful. It was very easy to assemble - no tools required! I had an old crate that I used when I first got my dog and it was one of the "hard sided" kind which did not allow for air flow. This Midwest crate is terrific. My dog can see everything going on and gets plenty of "fan breeze" from the room. It has 2 doors which will be useful when we travel and have to set up in a hotel room or at relatives. For a folding crate it is very sturdy. The only drawback I can think of is if you have an escape artist dog, he could probably figure out how to open the latch which just slides horizontally into place. My dog sleeps here each night and has never tried to get out. Shes much happier with this model.

This is an upgrade from an "Intermediate" size plastic kennel that I used for my black lab. He outgrew the old one, and I just couldnt bear the thought of having to close the door on him in it when we travelled, so I had to buy a new one. This one is very roomy, and after a few days, Ive found him going to it to lay in it on his own. Dare I say he looks even cuter curled up in this one?

This crate folds flat to about 2.5-3" thick and makes for easy transportation. Because it is metal, it is a little heavy. I had to carry it down 3 flights of stairs at a hotel last week, and it wasnt fun, but it was manageable.

A little tip: if youre upgrading from a plastic kennel like I did, the metal ones are completely rectangular which means that even if you got the same measurements, it would actually be a little bigger for the dog. I probably would have been just fine with one size smaller. Im not exchanging though -- I like that my dog has plenty of room if we need to leave him alone for a few hours some day on the road.

On a side note, the box was torn pretty badly. The FedEx driver let me look at it before signing, and the crate itself was fine. Just mentioning this so that people keep an eye out in case there is actually some damage in shipment.

Since I recently got two puppies, I wanted a way to crate them together yet give both a little private space to retreat to if desired. I assumed I could place the divider right down the middle so each puppy could share in a "duplex" situation. Well, that definitely does not work. If you place the divider in the center, you have to attach it to the door. If you attach it to one side so the door can still be opened, that closed-in side becomes useless. So, I had to go Petsmart and purchase 2 additional Midwest metal dog crates. That solution works, but their play area inside the exercise pen has been dramatically reduced in size because the 2 crates take up so much more space than just the one. Later, I learned I could have purchased a three-door crate that just might have been perfect. Oh well, you learn from your mistakes. Since the crate was well-made and would have worked for just one dog, I gave the product 4 stars.

It really did take just a few minutes to set up since its a fold and carry model. Very sturdy construction. My Schnoodle jumped right inside! During the day, I keep both doors open because he likes to pop in and out of it. He sleeps in it at night. Great way to housebreak a dog.

Some specifications--

DOOR OPENINGS:
The one on the longer side (24"), the opening is 12" wide, 15" high.
On the shorter end (18"), the opening is approx 14" x 14".
Doors swing to the left, and each door has two latches for extra security.

TWO PLASTIC HANDLES snap on and off and can be placed on the sides of the crate or on the top (depending on the weight of the dog).

PLASTIC PAN is removable, therefore can be easily cleaned if your furry friend leaves a "present".

One thing I did notice was that one of the metal pieces that connected one side of the crate to the bottom stuck out a bit. Removable/movable divider for puppy as it grows. Why do you need this feature? Because, crate training is the way to go with a dog. A dog uses it as his "den" for your sake as well as his and is great when PROPERLY applied. A dog usually will not soil his "den" area. If too large, as when a puppy, you divide it off into a smaller space for that reason and adjust its placement as the puppy grows. Otherwise, the tendency of the pup is to sleep in one end and soil the other end.

We lent our extra cage to someone .... and could not remember who. Hope this sounds familiar to someone other than us! We were in need of a 2nd cage for a new puppy so we did not have to haul our one and only back and forth to our cottage. This is the second Midwest crate we have owned. The first one we had was for a large dog. We still have it but no longer need it. Anyway, the crate sets up rather easily and is very easy to clean. There is plenty of space for a small animal (my cat) to move around. *If you are getting this for a cat, there is room for a small litter pan. And, so far, he hasnt been able to escape.

My only complaint is that somehow I was misled with the size. I thought I was getting a bigger crate that we could use for our future full-size dog, but I guess I will have to get another crate when that time comes.

I have four of these, one for each of my dogs. I have dachshunds and this gives them enormous space to stretch and play during the three hours a day they are kept in their kennels while I work. Whenever I go, I put them in and they are safe, have room for toys and sitting around off their pillows. I dont worry about them and they are comfortable. The two doors make it easy to position them. I stack them. My oldest boy gets to look out the window and when the sun is too bright, I can drape the window side and hes fine.

This is well made, immensely affordable and very easy to care for. the tray slides out of the bottom. I love them. I would never have anything else. They are made for bigger dogs but my little boys love them. one of them is so overwhelmed by the space it took a while to get used to it.

I cant believe there are so many positive reviews of this crate. There are so many things wrong with it.

First, someone else already mentioned the clips. They either stick into the cage or they lay on the floor sticking up waiting for you to step on them. What were they thinking?

And that brings us to #2. The clips are there because this is portable. What a joke. This thing is heavy. It is difficult to fold and unfold. (Or else mine is bent and/or poorly constructed, either way its a strike.)There is gonna be flexing metal when you do it too. So its not a given that you are going to escape uninjured from the process.

The handles provided only snap onto bars with certain diameters. Make sure you use THOSE bars and that the handles snap in or you could easily drop this thing. And youre pretty unlikely to escape from that uninjured. Also, because the handles only snap onto the long bars they are not very convenient for moving the crate around when it is assembled.

If you plan to take the divider panel when you transport this thing please pay attention to where it comes from when you first unfold it because youll never figure out where it goes again.

Which brings us to #3. Use the divider panel and it will be available from puppyhood through adulthood. Another joke, I think. Any puppy could fit his whole leg through the bars of this cage - all the way up to the hip or shoulder. Try to picture that with a frantic puppy and no injury.

Then theres #4. Want to get the door closed fast? Forget it. The locking bars will slide into the closed position. And you cant just slide them open and closed to lock them either. You have to lift the handle in order to be able to slide the lock open or closed. When you swing the door closed the handles swing out allowing the locks to slide closed by centrifugal force. Both locks then have to be disengaged so the door can close all the way and you can engage the locks. That means before you can engage either lock you have to lift the handle on each one and slide it to the open position. How fast does that sound? With practice you might get pretty fast, but its still a TERRIBLE design.

This product was NOT made by dog-lovers. Consumer testing was non-existent. I found all these issues in the first week of use. Keep looking. This is not the crate for you, even at Amazons prices.

I foster dachshunds for Dare in Florida so we use lots of different crates. This is my favorite brand because it is very easy to fold and open quickly and the latches work better than some of the others Ive tried. I think it is great that all the other reviewers (and their pets) have had positive experiences with this product. I, unfortunately, have not. I left my 65 lb dog in his crate for 45 minutes only to come home to the wire on the door having broken welds and the wire bent up at my dogs eye level. I understand that some dogs will be able to damage their crates, I just feel that the crate should withstand my dog trying to reach a toy that ended up outside of his crate. This damage has not only made this brand new crate unusable, my dog could have been seriously injured had he been left for a longer period.

To make it worse, I was told by MidWests customer service that the warranty will not cover anything because the damage was inflicted by the animal. I was told I should have "more thoroughly inspected the crate for any defects prior" to leaving my animal in it. So I guess I was supposed to check every single weld on every single wire on the entire crate before use. That is ridiculous. Further, no parts are replaceable (except the tray) and it is not possible to order a new door. I was told to go purchase a new crate at full price.

Be careful with this product. Apparently the warranty is void once your animal has been inside the crate. I gave it one star only because zero stars was not an option.

It is hard to feel comfortable purchasing a home for your pet that you can not see or feel. Yet, the prices compared to Petco or other retailers make you take a second look.

The reviews helped me tremendously when picking this product. When I received it, it was a simple set up. My dog was just a puppy so the divider was an essential. The quality sets it self apart from others. It was made to last. I looked at other crates that seem to have the ability to rust and break down, but not this one.

They really did a good job. I keep it inside my home and it always appears clean and aesthetically pleasing. The fold up option takes a little time, but we do not move it often.

Overall, I am very pleased with this product, and do not think I will have to buy one anytime in the near future. This Was Made To Last!

I purchased a Midwest Lifestages, single door, 36x24x27, dog crate on December 5 for our new Lab. The cage was here within a few days, but the tray was cracked in shipping; it was still usable for the puppys weight, but I was happy when the new pan arrived in perfect shape and again, within a few days. Not only did JB Wholesale send a new crate out right away, but they called me on the phone, talked to me about crate training, apologized for any inconvenience, and told me to call if I ran into any problems puppy training! What a great company to do business with! We are very happy with our crate; its working out just fine with our puppy (especially the life- stages divider) and I would definitely do business with JB Wholesale again.

This dog crate is excellent. We have 3 pitbull grand dogs and this crate is so large, all three can fit in there. The separation piece is nice as well if we ever want to keep them apart when crated. Easy assembly and having the handles to carry it with are a great plus as well.
Not recommended for a new puppy     On: 2007-12-30

I purchased this crate and paid for Saturday delivery so that I could have it for my new 7 week old puppy. The crate is good quality and will likely serve us well as the dog grows, but I cannot use it yet. The problem is that the gaps between wires are too wide, allowing a small puppy (or small breed dog) to get his teeth and jaws through them - with the strong liklihood of injuring himself or traumatizing himself by becoming stuck that way.

I had to rush out the same day to a local store and purchase a smaller "travel crate" with smaller wire openings in the door. He will stay in that until he outgrows it.

It would be only fair of me to say that once my dog grew enough to avoid the hazards mentioned above, this is a great product. The crate is very durable and safe and has served us and our large German Shepherd very well for the first year of his life. We still use it daily.

This is the third crate I have purchased and the second one was the same company as this. They make a great crate at a very reasonable price and having the two doors, front & side, make it perfect for us. We have two big dogs in crates and being able to turn one sideways makes all the difference in being able to maximize the use of space. We love the crate, the size is perfect, and the double doors are great. However the tray arrived with a crack it it. I notified the manufacturer immediately and they promised to send me a new tray but so far it hasnt arrived. I am still waiting for it.

We purchased this crate for our new 10-lb Labrador pup (who will eventually be 80+ lbs), and I couldnt be happpier with it. I only wish I had known about it 10 years ago when we got our German Shepherd pup, as we purchased multiple crates to accomodate her growing size. There is little to no set-up needed, as it literally just pops right up when you take it out of the box. The construction is very durable, with rounded edges. I thought the pan in the bottom would be cold for my dog, but its made of some material that seems to always be warm. The adjustable divider that comes with it is very easy to move. My pup is very happy in his space!

One small issue- the tabs that lock the crate in the closed position do not clip up and out of the way when the crate is set-up, they rest on the floor, open-end up. They are not sharp but you could step on them if you arent aware that they are there. Otherwise, the crate is great!

This is a great crate for the price. The double doors are an excellent option for positioning the crate various ways. This crate is easy to fold open in a minute and close for storage. I bought this crate for my tall german pointer weighing 70lbs and this crate easily accomadates my other dog weighing 50lbs when necessary. I have this crate only larger 42inches for my border collie mix. We decided it was a little too big for her...although I am sure she doesnt mind :)Her large crate is going to our Husky for when she gets bigger, and our border collie will be getting this size crate. She absolutely loves it! It is her own bedroom. We dont crate her during the day but we do crate her while we sleep. I actually tried letting her sleep out of her crate and she kept moving around the room. Once she gets into her crate she pretty much passes out and falls asleep because she knows it means sleep time. The crate also folds down nicely and fits into our car without any problems. We just fold down the back seats and put our dogs bed on top and we are good to go! I would highly reccomend this crate to anyone. Having two different enterances is great! Our dog prefers the gate on the side. She always goes in without a problem! Also, I would highly recomend putting a bed inside during the winter and maybe a piece of carpet that covers the inside floor during the summer. This helps take away the noise of thier nails scratching on the plastic. Plus...they feel more comfortable.

I am sure that the dog crate that I bought from midwest would have been a great dog crate and would have worked wonderfully. the thing of it is that I never recieved the product.. of no fault of Midwest. They sent it FedEx, and FedEx lost it. Then said that it was delivered correctly even though I never got the dog crate. I would like to give a 5 star rating to Midwest on a great product and a quick turn around time from order to shipping, but a -10 star to FedEx for no delivery, bad customer service, and the fact that I am out 70 some odd dollars because they didnt have anyone sign for it. they said that because I ordered the crate on-line that this was my signature and they didnt need one on the other end saying that it was truely delivered. If at all possible I would like to urge whom ever is reading this to not use FedEx.

If you have a medium sized doggie and are looking for a crate because you live in an apartment, this particular model is a good choice. Crate training is amazingly simple (just dont use it for punishment--make it a happy experience when your puppy go into his crate). We have been using this for two months, and he takes to it easily.

1. Easy to put together and fold away. Solid black e-coat steel wire, conjoined with small metal plates with welded corners facing out. It comes with a slightly smaller divider that you can hook to the insides of the crate. As our puppy got bigger, we moved the divider and eventually removed it.

2. The two doors (one on the long end is off-centered) are not removable and opens only one way so its not omni-directional when you place it in tight spaces. You may want to check out some crates with three doors if so.

3. The bottom tray is made of black-composite plastic material, easy to wipe clean and slide out from under the short end of the door.

4. I like the double latch, but some people may find it a little more work to open and close day-to-day.

5. If you buy a crate cover, check out Cratewear Pet Dreams 3-Piece (which fits this model well, but only work with the door on the short end).

6. For this price, its a good crate to highly consider because your goal is to have a sanctuary for your puppy (for time out and quiet-time) and to housebreak your dog and/or temperate from negative behavior (such as chewing furniture, etc.)
